Professional :: Downsaving A Flash CS5 .fla To A CS3 Format?
May 25, 2010Is there a way to do this in CS5? Saving to a CS3 format was pretty simple in CS4 but CS5 doesn't seem to have the option as far as I can tell.

View 3 RepliesI'm suddenly getting an "Unexpected file format" error on virtually every Flash CS4 file that I try to open. These are files that I created and I'm trying to open tham on the same computer on which they were created. The only thing that I can think of that has changed is that I installed some new fonts, so I deleted those, but that hasn't helped.I've tried retrieving files that I had backed up to a server, and those give me the same error. The only files that I AM able to open are 1) a test file that I created in CS4, saved, closed and reopened, and 2) files that had been created in CS3.

View 3 RepliesToday I was working on a project in Flash, I restarted my computer because when I was pasting sth. It was pasting "Hello!". After the restart, I opened Flash, It said that the "Essentials xml" couldn't be opened. So it said to go to Window>Essentials reset. I did and I was able to edit again. But before doing that, I tried to open that project, and it Said that it couldn't be found. I opened it manually but still the same. Then I closed Flash and opened it again. And when I opened the project I got : "Unexpected file format".

View 1 RepliesFlash newbie here, using CS5 on a Mac. I've created several Flash animation files, all about 25 seconds long. The animations are fairly simple, about 6 layers each, but all contain a lot of movement. I need to turn the animations into videos that can be played on computers that don't have any Adobe programs, i.e. Quicktime. This is where my issue comes in. The published .swf files work wonderfully, but when I export the files to Quicktime video (.mov) the motion seems to leave a "trail" of images behind it. The static remnants go away after a few seconds but are replaced by new remnants of the current movement. I've played around with the quality and size of the videos, but nothing seems to have helped. I've tried used Xilisoft video converter to convert the .swf files into .avi or .mp4, but the files couldn't be uploaded. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what steps I could take to export my .fla or .swf files into high-quality video files?
View 3 RepliesWe recently upgraded to Windows 7 64Bit from Windows XP here at work, and since the upgrade i've discovered a very scary issue with Flash.When going to save one of my large projects, often Adobe simply crashes outright, freezing up and displaying a standard error message."Adobe Flash CS5 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." - with an option for "Close program"I hit close program, and Flash disappears. If I try and open that same FLA file again, I get the error messageUnfortunately it seems since Flash is crashing in the middle of saving, it is corrupting my FLA file. This is extremely worrying, since it corrupts my entire source file.Here's the details of my computer:OS: Windows 7 - Recently upgraded from 32bit Windows XPThe Flash CS5 version is 11.0.0.485The FLA in question is 10MB, and contains some large map files (gifs), lots of small JPG's as well as a fair chunk of code as well as importing of external classes. I've tried replicating the issue on smaller files, and haven't been able to do so.

View 4 RepliesI have been working on a project for a week and suddenly it crashed during save (nothing strange had been imported or anything i just saved after moving content around) and now i cant open my file again. I contacted adobe support who claim that since the problem is related to the file this is not their problem, what a load of HORSE ****, who should i contact about this dell if its an FLA FILE!? I have already renamed the file to flash.zip then opened with WinRar and repaired as a new zip file to a different folder (which removes the corrupt content which is document something.xml) then i tried renaming this folder back to flash.fla however the file still does not open.
View 4 RepliesI have created a small application which takes it's information from an xml file and displayes it in a news ticker which is a flash Flash AS2 application. tell me the correct way to format the link tag in the xml if there is a standard when wanting to state a target for the link? The xml file currently looks like:
<newsTicker>
<item>
<header>Test Message 1</header>[code]....
So what I want to do is to be able to open the link in a taget=_blank window however adding that to the end of the url does not currently work.I have added a comma and also tried using a space, space and encompassing in quotes but none are working.

View 1 RepliesSo Ive been working with Flash Pro CS5 and it seems I cant get the converting right with image formats into shape symbols. A couple days ago I did convert it correctly but now I cant remember how exactly I did it lol.
What Im trying to do is convert an image into a shape symbol then into a .gls format. When I import the working shape symbol in my SoThink Flash it would show up in the scene but now I cant recreate a working one as it would show up as a blank image.
Ive watched and read through some tutorials but Im confused on which order I should do the steps into converting an image into a symbol.
Btw.. if theres an easier way to convert an image into a .gls format I like to hear it as well
I was recently working on a project in Flash CS5.5 for school, last thing i did was save the project and close the program. Next time I try to open it I get an error saying "Unexpected File Format", and the application closes itself out. I can open Flash by itself and work on anything else, but when I try to open my class project it repeats the same thing "Unexpected File Format" and closes. The file was originally started IN Flash CS5.5, and has not moved to any other program since then.
View 11 RepliesSomething is corrupt with my Flash Professional CS5 Actionscript Auto format: Comments within a block, such as ' // ' or block comments ' /* ... */ ' are tripping up the Auto Formattor, which returns this error: ' Error with autoformat near line: }'. Comments before package block don't cause an error. When I remove comments within package block, Auto format works correctly.

View 1 RepliesI was wondering whether MP3s or WAVs would be better to avoid syncing issues. Also, what audio stream settings would be best?
I was also wondering if you can manually play the audio track by moving the play head over it. I've tried multiple times with multiple settings to no avail.
On the 10 FEB, you installed Flash 10,2,152,26 and IE8 says Shockwave flash object is enabled, internet security is set to default and video plays OK. But the format buttons that add HTML code to text to post on Guardian threads no longer work. Their Help is not aware of a problem but has details. Uninstalling the latest IE8 update, KB2482017, did not help.
Norton Internet Security (2011?) is Version 18.5.0.125.Windows (Vista HP) Update has installed several other updates, 10 FEB. Could it have set a kill bit? I am not keen to edit the Registry but a System Restore to a Windows Update Restore point is the next but one option.Java(TM) 6 updated to 23 on 10 FEB. It set the most recent Restore point!

I'm working on an iPhone game, and the artists are supplying the animations in flash format. I need to be able to extract the images, image positions, and image rotations in a comma delimited format as input to my iPhone OpenGL Rendering Engine. Are there any tools that let you do this? Perhaps this is a really basic question,

View 3 RepliesI'm going to create a iOS app in flash and convert. I'm thinking I may want to load graphic assets at runtime. I'd like these assets to be vector graphics so they can be resized easily with no quality degradation. I usually use SWF files ofr this purpose. Unless I'm wrong, a converted iOS app probably does not load SWF files. So I'm wondering what kind of vector graphics file format can iOS load at runtime?

Is there any library in Action Script that be able to convert any video format to .FLV?
I've been looking for it with no success. I thought that as3 had functions for that purposes but not found.
I want to give the possibility that in my site, users can upload any video, so I need to convert it to a standard and compress it to a fixed resolution.
I cannot Check Syntax of AS3 (error sound, not the happy 'ding' syntax checked sound), nor does the IDE Auto Format anything, even valid code. trace("x"); does nothing (except throw the 'error in your syntax' message). There is nothing displayed in the Compiler Errors pane or in the Output pane. Document Classes fail to work and fail to fail, when they are purposely mis-coded. Class files also cannot Check Syntax or Auto Format or output anything with trace("x"). AS2 files behave normally, with all the above items working.
I had the trial version of CS5 running fine. It expired. I bought the Full Version Upgrade which worked fine. Yesterday, the as3 script environment fails to check syntax, fails to auto format and does not send any trace statements to the output window. I have removed the application & re-installed and updated, but nothing has fixed this yet. AS3 code envorinment is seriously messed up. I will update everything tonight.
