I need to be able to extract the images, image positions, and image rotations in a comma delimited format as input to my iPhone OpenGL Rendering Engine. Are there any tools that let you do this? I'm interested in developing for the iPad and iPhone, but I'd prefer not to learn Apple's whole development stack (and good golly, I sure don't want to go back to manual memory management). Oh, sure, I could learn it, but I don't have that level of commitment to the environment at this point. I've got professional experience with Flex already, so I'm intrigued by Adobe's move to make Flash/Flex compile to the iPhone and iPad. My question is: how promising of a development path will Adobe's Slider be? Are we likely to see Slider publicly available in a reasonable timeframe (Adobe: "An early mobile branch of the Flex framework is expected to be available in 2010")? Are we likely to see reasonable performance? Are there development hurdles that haven't become clear yet? Heck, is it all just vaporware? There's pretty limited information available so far, as far as I've seen, but I'm interested in people's predictions, even if they're speculative.

I am new to Adobe Air and Iphone App Development. I wanted some suggestions regarding a Voting App that I am going to start developing using Adobe AIR. Using the App, users can visit different Events from different categories and can vote the event. I just wanted to know, if I can use PHP and mySQL (online database) to work on this project? View 3 Repliesif I set up the facility for people to embed video content on their site via their CMS (using TinyMCE editor), is there any reliable cross platform video format that should be used? From what I can find online, the only reliable way to embed and stream video is using FLV. Other formats seem to have caveats, e.g codecs required or quicktime updates required. Ideally I'd like to avoid this type of situation. If it is the case that FLV is the preferred option, then that involves asking people to encode their video content to FLV before uploading, so there is an extra step required here (unless I can set up the encoding in the back end, but this might take a while to process depending on the size of the video).

Does anybody use bare .SWF files as webpages? I know it's possible; it seems to work fine for me. Why would I embed a SWF inside an HTML page if it's just going to be full screen (I mean the size of the browser's normal viewable page area, not COMPLETELY fullscreen)?
Is there a lack of browser support? Or is this functionality determined by the browser's Flash plugin?

The rest will be queued.If I have a flash movie on the page which is continually making image requests, how does this affect the maximum number of downloading files in the browser?

For some background, I do have a flash movie that is continually loading files so there is a queue of Loaders waiting to make requests.My idea was that if there was a different request that I needed to be executed straight away I could make it jump the queue by making a javascript call and allowing the browser to make the request instead.
I have a load of FLA files with large libraries of vector graphics. Is there a way of forcing Flash to create an export(jpg or swf)of all the graphics in a library without having to manually drag them onto the stage or into a scene before publishing or exporting them? I'm thinking there might be an SDK or utility or something that can read fla files and export everything programmatically.

I don't want Flash to store the video and image files it pulls in when I test publish the swf. Somewhere it's keeping those files in cache, making it impossible to test a realistic download situation ( such as loading indicators, buffering bars, etc ) because the 'loading' file is immediately available in its entirety due to being stored in cache.

The problem comes from the fact that I could have quite a lot of information hanging around in the form of a multi dimensional array structure where the XML data will be placed after parsing.Ideally I would like the ability to create a delimited Multi-dimensional array, which can dynamically update it's size, without me having to declare an array of 32000 cells each time, which could waste system resources to a stupid proportion.I have tried:-

View 1 RepliesI've been given a Flash tutorial to post to the corporate website that is an .exe file with an embedded Flash player. Users will be on IE, so I guess they would get the run/save prompt. I don't like this and I know it generally isn't done, but I need to know if it is OK to just do it. When I try to explain the security issues with executable files, eyes glaze. Is it possible that the users' system admins would be able to block the run prompt and make the user save the file? Could they block that too? The user community is hopeless, so having the embedded Flash player could be a good thing.
View 1 RepliesI'm loading an external XML file when in the Flash development environment. ActionScript 3.0 (CS3) accesses the XML file using URLLoader. Everything is fine until I have to make changes to the XML file. When testing the Flash application while in the development environment, it does not see the changes I made to the XML file, because the URLLoader is somehow caching the results. Thus, the XML file looks exactly the same. This is very frustrating. Is there any way I can blow out this cache so that URLLoader is forced to load the XML file? Currently, I either have to re-start the Flash environment or change the name of the XML file.
