View 3 RepliesSince Apple loosened their terms again, is it posible to develop a game in FLash CS5 and publish it on the Apple App Store? Are there actually any real apps / games on the App Store that were build on Flash?
View 1 RepliesI am going to develop a very simple game for android and for iphone/ipad I have the option to develop it in cocos2d or in adobe flash air (i am not a developer, but i have 2 developers who are offering me the service)I have a developer that states that cocos2d is better and other one that states that adobe flash air.I want it in cross platform.the cost offered by both developers is the same..i have heard that adobe air has the flaw that it is very slow, is this real? if you had the 2 options which will you use to develop your game and why?
View 1 RepliesI'm interested in developing for the iPad and iPhone, but I'd prefer not to learn Apple's whole development stack (and good golly, I sure don't want to go back to manual memory management). Oh, sure, I could learn it, but I don't have that level of commitment to the environment at this point. I've got professional experience with Flex already, so I'm intrigued by Adobe's move to make Flash/Flex compile to the iPhone and iPad. My question is: how promising of a development path will Adobe's Slider be? Are we likely to see Slider publicly available in a reasonable timeframe (Adobe: "An early mobile branch of the Flex framework is expected to be available in 2010")? Are we likely to see reasonable performance? Are there development hurdles that haven't become clear yet? Heck, is it all just vaporware? There's pretty limited information available so far, as far as I've seen, but I'm interested in people's predictions, even if they're speculative.
View 6 RepliesIf I build a Android and Blackberry app with Flash/AIR, do i get access to the file system and database for both platforms?
My app will need to save downloaded images.
So for the splash screen at the beginning of an iPhone app, usually a Default.png is created and added to resources folder to add it. In Flash CS5 IOS development there is no resources folder so I was wondering if anyone had any experience how to get this to work.
View 1 RepliesI was reading that certain API's are not available when making iPhone apps with flash, such as accessing the camera. Is it possible to still get information from the web and display it in the app using the flash method? The overall plan is to have it pull data from an SQL database using XML, and I was just wondering if that was possible still with flash.
View 1 RepliesI have built a multi-touch application which is based on a Java EE backend and combined with BlazeDS to a Adobe Flex frontend. The application runs on a DIY-Multi-Touch which I built. Now I want to use another solution. The Adobe Flex frontend (with a multitouch library) and the BlazeDS adapter should be replaced by a solution which covers iPhone/iPad, Android and commercial Multi-Touch displays.
The problem is the iPad/iPhone, there is no Flash Player runtime (not the jail-breaked ones), but the application should be runnable also on those devices. So Adobe Flex and a Java frontend (no JVM on the iPhone/iPad) is not possible anymore. At first, starting the developing of the application it was not neccessary, to run it on Apples mobile devices, but this changed So, what can I do, using HTML5? So I can use it for Android and iPhone/iPad. But I also want to make it possible to use it on a commercial multi-touch-display and normal display with a mouse (I only have gestures for one finger, the 2-finger gestures are not neccessary). Are there any frameworks that allow this? Because I do not want to create several frontends (App for iPhone/iPad on Objective-C and a Adobe Flex for all other devices), it would be great if I can build a frontend for all devices.
I am porting my flash games on android. I have ported 3 successfully. But the problem with all of them is they are giving very low frame rate near about 7-8. And I have observed 1 thing that frame rate always varies. Sometimes it goes upto 45 and again in next frame it comes to 3-4 and again goes to 15-16.
I am quite confused. Please let me know if anyone is having any idea about this.
I would like to do some iPhone development from my Windows box using the Adobe iPhone packager. I get how to do pretty much everything except creating / obtaining the certificates and provisioning files needed to complete the packaging process. What is the easiest and quickest way to get up and running?
View 2 RepliesI am just wondering if there is any commerical game-engine middle-ware or library for ActionScript 3 (I am big fan of "don't reinvent the box unless necessary"). I have checked out some Open Source ones such as PushButton and my google-fu is too weak to turn up anyone that is commerical (is that even allowed by Adobe in the first place?)
View 4 RepliesThe only thing I get is a swf file.I don't really know why Flash CS 5.5 refuses to generate my project's apk file since I've never encountered a problem like this before. Is it a bug or am I doing something wrong? My player is set to AIR for Android,I have my certificate,I don't get any errors, and debugging on my device via USB works flawlessly.
View 3 Repliescan someone please provide an example of WebSocket implementation in Android, iOS(iPhone/iPad) and Flash (not flex!).I found some libraries but none of that work :). My browser WebSocket implementation is working great using Socket.IO, now I would like to dig also into Android, iPhone and Flash. I tried to implement a Android webview pointing to a website where sockets are implemented, but it doesn't work. I would be great to have some native library for that.
View 5 RepliesIt's about the "Game Character Dialogues", It is used to instruct the user what to do, like what you see in BookWorm or Diner DAsh.I used dynamic text fields to generate these dialogues, but as I continued doing it. I found myself stuck.I have no idea on how to change the words when the "next" button is clicked. there will be no previous button. but the dialogue will replay when the character is clicked.
View 3 RepliesMy OS is Win 7 and I have the windows test versionof Flash Builder Burrito. There I can only develop for Android devices.I've heard it's only possible to develop forthe iPhone/iPad with a Macintosh computer.Or is there a trick to develop for iPhone/iPad on Windows PC with Adobe software(because I don't want to pay a second time for Adobe software for MAC)and only copy the result to a Macintosh?
Is it possible in the MAC version of Flash Builder Burrito to develop for iPhone/iPad (and also for Android)?Or have I to use a different IDE for iPhone/iPad apps becauseApple wants native apps and Flash builder burritois only for AIR/Flash app development?
I am new to Adobe Air and Iphone App Development. I wanted some suggestions regarding a Voting App that I am going to start developing using Adobe AIR. Using the App, users can visit different Events from different categories and can vote the event. I just wanted to know, if I can use PHP and mySQL (online database) to work on this project? I am familiar with Flash and PHP integration. Now I think, I will have to call the php pages from some online servers using http: and not from local.
View 1 RepliesI'm able to create the basic structure but I'd like to add some transitions between frames when a player makes a choice. I want to make it look like one frame slides to the left followed by the next frame sliding into view.
View 1 RepliesThere's clearly a bunch of new stuff in Flash 10, I'm seeing a bunch in the Graphics class so far. Struggling a bit to reconcile it with what I know already but it looks useful - render lists and 3D transforms, etc - however I wondered if there are good arguments for targeting Flash 9 since I can definitely manage without all the new stuff I don't know. Like support on non-Windows devices, wide adoption of Flash 9 Vs 10, etc.
View 1 RepliesI've recently tried FlashPunk for game development and it seems to be easy enough to comprehend, however, when me and a friend tested simple apps coded in it on the iPhone, it seems to be acquiring an unnecessarily large amount of memory plus dropping framerates.
Are there any other choices for game development with ActionScript 3 with frameworks that are optimized for mobile gaming?
The game will be on a school VLE (virtual learning environment) like 'Moodle'. Can you export to email? Spreasheet? Or can it only be done with php? Do not want to be spending weeks on it!
View 1 RepliesI've been working for a month on a flash game, which should be manageable to play in a browser (light computation). This being said, I've noticed that in some browsers the game runs at what looks like 15 fps (the game should run in 80fps). This has been known to happen in IE9, and the quick fix was to add this line to the top of the html: <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" value="IE=9"> This was a quick-fix that forces IE into compatibility mode and greatly improved the fps (to about... 60, let's say). Still, I believe that the game is running slower than it should in every browser, which is evident when the html version is compared to the swf.
[Code]...
I am kind of new to Flash and only really know really basic stuff. (Scenario) I have made a local game in Flash CS3 Professional for my Advanced Higher Computing project for school which is almost completely glitch free. But my teacher says it needs a file handling feature, such as a high score feature in it to make it AH standard. I want to make a simple high score feature where it takes the final score, asks the user to input their name, and add it to a .txt file. Since the computers at my school are very limited, I cannot use programs like Adobe AIR or PHP or anything like that so I need it to be simple. (Question) So I really need a full tutorial (where to put the coding, layout and everything) to:
Check if there is an existing .txt file called (for example) "High Score.txt" If there is, load it. If not, create a .txt file called (for example) "High Score.txt" to the desktop. Take the users input and place it with their final score after it. (Optional but not required) Arrange the scores in order of highest to lowest or display the top 5.
I'm working on an iPhone game, and the artists are supplying the animations in flash format. I need to be able to extract the images, image positions, and image rotations in a comma delimited format as input to my iPhone OpenGL Rendering Engine. Are there any tools that let you do this? Perhaps this is a really basic question,
View 1 RepliesMay I ask whether iphone can support .swf file or not? This is because I have developed a mini game using Adobe Flash Lite by using action script 2.0 and save as .fla file and export as .swf file. If can, can give me some guidances on how to import .swf to iphone.
View 2 RepliesI've a pc (windows 7) and I'd like to use flex 4.5 sdk for developing android and ios app (future), but I like to do it with free tools.
I'm a bit confused about best enviroment and for difference between paid version of flex and no paid version, There's also good library like as3isolib is compatible with open sdk of flex?
Can also give me some tools like good ide, and which and where can download the right sdk from adobe site?
And the difference of speed for a app made in flex or in java in a 1ghz hi res (800x480) phone like nexus one?
I would like to create a multiplayer online game (tic-tac-toe/chess) and i am not sure which language to use. I am familiar with JS/PHP and heard about comet Does comet stand a chance against Flash, if yes whats the limitations except the lack of smooth animations like flash allows? What are the differences regarding resources and memory needed? SECURITY: Is it possible to create Flash-games without any chance to modify (flash-)cookies etc... for cheating? i know lot of questions, i do hope for your recommendations into the reight direction.
View 1 RepliesI made a flash game some time ago (ActionScript 2), and I was wondering what steps would I have to take to make it into an app?
View 3 RepliesI have a list of 700 words that I would like to convert to symbols in Flash for a flash card game. I'm trying to make a game where a random symbol from a slice of the array of symbols will come into game play until the user performs an action.Basically, I'm wondering how I can create an arrayed/indexed library of symbols from a dictionary, for a downloadable Flash game. Does anyone know how I could start to script this? Also, if I want to pair a 'word symbol' with its translation, do I need to use a database? Obviously, because it's a flash-card type game I'm working on, the translated symbol is just as valuable as the original-language symbol.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying develop small iphone game with flash cs5, the first step i'm trying to do is scrolling big background with my finger .. the iphone application document size is width 320 x height 480 px, on the stage there is a big image 1280x800 px i want start scroll this big image with touching iphone screen in any direction to make the hidden parts appears ..
View 2 RepliesJust as the title says, can flash be used in an android game to show animation? Like say an animated Lightning bolt appearing on the screen when a user touches a spot on the touch screen?
If this is not possible, what are alternatives to this?
