Aug 21, 2011When I test some of my as3 movies a new window opens and I can test the file. Yet when I test other movies I get an (error opening url 'file message.) What causes that? It seems to me that if a movie plays it should also test in a new window.

Jun 11, 2010I would like to point out that I am not an employee of either Comedy Central, The Daily Show or the website. The labels 'Production Assistant' and 'Intern' are just the sites rankings descriptions.There is an assumption by iPad owners, that all Flash websites must be converted to be compatible with the iPad, rather than the iPad should be compatible with existing websites.Is it worth continuing to defend against this assumption? Should we just give in to these people or try to engage them in a discussion, get them to demand Flash support from Apple?

Jan 29, 2011Searching for "8kHz" yielded two results but doesn't show the search result titles or the links to get to the post, though it does show links to the forum itself and the user who posted the result. Same results no matter what I searched for, though if I initiate the search initially from the top level Forum, the search results work as expected.

Aug 14, 2011My CS5 flash crashed when I changed the name of the root folder while it was open. Swf is working fine, but .fla file wont open, I get a "Failed to open document" message. This is a disaser because I've lost two days of work. Is there anything that could be done to fix this problem?

Jun 4, 2010it seems that I have installed wrong or corrupted component files, because every time i open Flash and try to use any component, there come error messages like "Unexpected file format" and Flash closes inmediatly after that... Professional :: Can't Seem To Attach The Flv And The Files?
Dec 22, 2010This file has been supposedly changed from As2 to As3. It seems as if it used to stop when I first got it. But the links didn't work. When I followed troubleshooting protocols, it started looping non-stop.
Please help. I can't seem to attach the flv and the action script files. All I get from the output window is "Fonts should be embedded for any text that may be edited at runtime, other than text with the "Use Device Fonts" setting. Use the Text > Font Embedding command to embed fonts."

I clicked the button, SaveAs dialog displayed, I chose to say the file in the Documents folder.Went to open the file, and got a message saying it was in use with another process. Restarted my computer, was now able to open the file. However the file is empty. It should have some text that I put in there - how can text vanish from a file? By simple downloading it.

I tried making a new user on my computer but get the same error message with that user as well.
I am using Mac OS 10.6.3. Master Collection CS5.

May 31, 2011I am using CS5 Flash and have developed a very large system with several thousand lines of code, a main timeline, and some dozen classes. Sometimes when I test it, I get get the error message below.Error creating SWF fileBe sure the destination file is not read-only or opened by another applcation. Also check that the file name is not too long.It appears to happen at random. Many times it doesn't appear at all and the FLA simply complies. Other times it may appear several times before the FLA complies. If there are errors in the FLA file, normal error messages are displayed. If there are no errors in the FLA, I get this random error message.

When mcA is visible it will attach mc4 in library then it is invisible again. Jan 1, 2011I really don't understand this forum. I'm trying to search for "Flashthusiast.com" in the Flash section, but all I get is a bunch of icons in the left column with a second column that says: "in Flash". No subject line, nothing. Is this a bug? Or, am I seeing something different than others?
Anyhow, when reading about creating in Flash in the user manual, I'm referred to Flashthusiast.com for sample AS3 code for button behaviors, but Norton Internet Explorer classify that site as dangerous. Has anyone visited it recently?? Why would Abode refer me to that site if it is dangerous?

May 4, 2011I have two Scenes created as a test, as there will be many Scenes created eventually for a project.
the Scenes are names Intro and Wrong
In the Intro Scene is a Movieclip (called Yellow1) that contains all of the functionality and timelines for that Scene.
In theYellow1 Movieclip, I have a button that when clicked it goes to a specific frame in the timeline. That works fine.
Along the timeline there is a frame with Actionscript that is set to automatically go to the Scene called Wrong when entered.
The code in the frame is:

function goToWrong(event:Event):void{ gotoAndPlay(1, "Wrong"); }
When I test the Scene Intro, everything plays fine until it enters the Frame with the above code.
I get an error of:
at flash.display::MovieClip/gotoAndPlay() at FinalProject_Yellow1_fla::yellowOne_1/goToWrong()ArgumentError: Error #2108: Scene Wrong was not found.
so it cannot find the Scene called wrong.
I know it has to be something to do with the Scene Wrong being at a different level ?
Professional :: Display A Message When Flash Is Not Found On The IPad?
Aug 25, 2011Apple is obviously rejecting Flash to protect it's 'App' revenue. I've been on Android phones that run Flash and display all my content perfectly smooth. It can be quite frustrating how they are trying to bury it when I still have yet to see HTML5 replicate the type of interactive content Flash is capable of producing. Is there any way to display a message on the iPad when the Flash player is not found? I'd like it to says something along the lines of: "Unfortunately the Apple iPad does not support the Flash player because their business interests do not want it taking away from their App revenue. Did you know that the Dell Streak, HTC Flyer, Blackberry Playbook, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Toshiba Thrive, and HP Touchpad all support the Flash player?"
