Professional :: Doesnt Go Huge When Viewed On Larger Monitors?

Jul 14, 2010

Is there a way of setting a swf so that it doesnt go huge when viewed on larger monitors? I want my site to scale in size, but when i viewed it on a  27" monitor it just looked way too big really (text looks silly big), even scaling it down can then be too small on regular monitors, is there a happy medium ?

My first time making anything in flash, so go easy on me. I made a set of navigation buttons for a website I'm building for a friend of mine.

When I make it in Flash, everything looks perfect. When I save it as a movie and run on my computer (in Flash Player 6), it still looks perfect. But when I put it on my website, the "M" in "HOME" gets distorted (on all browsers). See here: [URL]

Using Flash MX, can't afford the upgrade to CS right now!

Professional :: Timing Is Different In Preview / Flash Video And Viewed Offline

Mar 30, 2011

I'm having timing problems with a music video I am working on. The framerate it 24fps which for a 22 second animation should give me 528 frames. However, In the preview of the slides the 22 second mark on the sound is reached by about 310 frames. What's more, the 22 second point in the sound is reached at a later time in an exported swf movie, but still not 528 or 310. Why is the timing different in all viewing modes, which one should I use to time my video or how can I set them to all display the video at the correct timing?

How can it be removed?Here's the movie.One solution suggests replacing some code, but the code they suggest replacing doesn't even exist in my html file.I have found questions similar to mine being asked all over different forums, but their solutions either don't work, or like the above, don't really apply. For such a common problem, finding the solution is getting a little frustrating.

ActionScript 1/2 :: Track Scenes Viewed And Display Image A Or Image B Based On Scenes Viewed

Feb 26, 2011

I have an interactive story divided into scenes. At the end of each scene a button appears. This occurs on a frame on the timeline.

There are two different buttons that might appear based on whether a prior scene has been viewed or not.

For example, there are Scene_1 and Scene_2. At the end of Scene_2 one of two buttons will appear. The buttons will be either "Go see Scene_1" or "Return to Main Menu".

If the user has already seen Scene_1, Flash will know that and automatically go to the frame in Scene_2 that contains the button "Return to Main Menu".

Conversely, if the user has not seen Scene_1, Flash will know and automatically go to the frame in Scene_2 that contains the button "Go see Scene_1".

I imagine there would be an action frame at the end of Scene_2 that will contain the as2 code to enable this action.

Perhaps something like, but probably not at all like the following:

if ("Scene_1", last frame == true){gotoAndPlay("frame#");}else{gotoAndPlay("frame#");}

Professional :: Why Is Stage Larger Than .fla Dimensions

May 12, 2010

The more I work with this program, the more weird stuff I encounter.  I set up my .fla file as 700 x 400.  I've been putting stuff on the stage and adding tweens, then when I test the movie, part of the stage image is cut off.  I turned on the ruler, and found that the top of my stage is aligned at X 0.00 and Y -44.50.  I drew a box the size of the entire stage, and its position is X 0.00 and Y -44.50, and the dimensions are 700 x 469.  Can anyone tell me why my stage is larger than 700 x 400, and how to get the top left corner of the stage to be aligned at X 0.00 and Y 0.00?

Professional :: Encoding For FLV Results In 10x Larger File CS5 Vs CS4

Oct 1, 2010

I've recently upgraded to CS5 and the Media Encoder creates incredibly HUGE files compared to the CS4 media encoder.

For example, I can convert a 15MB mpg file to a 12 MB flv file in CS4 using the preset  "FLV same as source"

I do not find a matching preset in CS5, but tried "FLV - match source atributes (medium quality)"  Encoding the same file in CS5 with this preset results in 170MB file.

I've tried adjusting the settings, comparing the options in both versions, and I still can't get a reasonably sized file out of the CS5 media encoder.

This seems really broken to me.  A 170 MB file is not useful in any way.  Do I have bad presets?

Adobe Media Encoder version is 5.0.1.0  (32-bit)

Professional :: Encoding Video At A Larger Size?

Feb 11, 2011

Given:I encode video at 600kbpsI set the video to display by default at 448x336 (4:3)Users can set the video to display at full screen (let's say full screen = 1280x960)I can only provide one video resolution to cover all scenarios .Is there any logic to encoding the video for the larger size of 1280x960? Am I wrong in thinking:

Video encoded at 1280x960 and displayed at this size will look better than video encoded at 448x336 and enlarged to 1280x960; andThere will be minimal difference between video encoded at 1280x960 (and shrunk to 448x336) and video encoded at 448x336.

Professional :: Keep Image Size Slightly Larger For A Better Quality?

Feb 10, 2012

I set my images at 60% quality JPG files out of photoshop which seems to give a very nice representation. I set up a site to take a full screen, so I expect it to be larger on a bigger screen then what I see on mine. I figured to keep every image actual size at about 25% bigger when the finlal needed size in the layout, so if the site is ever on the bigger screen then images have some stored resolution to be enlarged and accomodate an increase in size. So all of mine images are scaled at about 75%.

Is it a good practise or things don't work this way in Flash? Perhaps it is better to keep the images to 100% (rather than importing intentially enlarges images) but make the maximum quality? Or both ways kind of work out?

C++ :: Play Hd Videos In Multiple Monitors?

Nov 5, 2011

I'm looking for a solution to play HD videos on a multimonitor OSX environment for a projector/desktop application. It could be one huge video, or a video split in parts.So far I've been using Flash StageVideo successfully to play 1080p and 720p on single monitors. This works great with flash projectors. The problem with flash projectors is you can't span multiple monitors, or multiple windows. I still haven't tried opening multiple projectors, because I wouldn't know how to position each projector in a different monitor consistently.

In Adobe AIR you can have multiple windows and control their position, but AFAIK you can't use StageVideo to decode videos with the GPU... and using the classic Video class is really out of the question.

With C++ there are multiple frameworks (cinder/openFrameworks) but AFAIK opening multiple windows, or spaning multiple monitors is not such a good idea because of bad performance. I stil haven't figured out if it's possible or even a good idea to open one app per monitor and control it's position.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Scaling Stage To Fit Different Monitors?

Feb 23, 2009

I have a flash project that I published to an .exe so it can run on the desktop. I also used the code:

Quote:

fscommand("fullscreen", true);

This is to make it launch in fullscreen. However the stage dimensions are 1100 * 800px and when you lunch this on certain computers with lower res monitors, some of the stage area is cut off. I found that you can always right click and select the "show all" option and it will scale down to fit the monitors screen. How can I make this do that automatically without having to right click and selecting the "show all" button.

Full Screen Flash Content On Two Monitors?

Apr 22, 2011

I thought there was a simple way to make Flash content display full-screen on two monitors at once, but I can't seem to recall how to do it.

Searching on the topic is tough because so many people are talking about the ability to keep a full-screen video playing while working on another screen, which is not what I want. I need an app I'm developing at 2880 x 900 to be viewable full-screen across two monitors horizontally.

I've tried

stage.displayState = "fullScreen";

activate from a user click, but it fills only one screen.

I've tried it from within a projector and from a browser with allowFullscreen set to true, and using version 10.2 of the player.

it's only using the primary monitor so it's all out of whack if they're watching on the extended monitor.
