View 2 RepliesI am learning flash and recently bought a flash template so I could see how it was structured etc. The vertical menu on the flash template plays fine when ran locally but when I upload it to the web the text on the vertical menu doesnt all show (i.e. the text is half cut off).

View 2 RepliesI do animation as a hobby on youtube (using a combination of Adobe Photoshop, Sony Vegas, and a few other programs for specifics such as morphing and mouth movements), and I was recently contacted by someone who wanted me to do some work for their website by making animation. The catch is, however, that they want my videos to be in flash format with the option to start playing (and repeat) when a person rolls over the scenes with their mouse.
Now, I was able to figure out how to convert my videos into Flash F4V format (yea!), but I can't figure out for the life of me what to do next. All of the tutorials I've read talk about inserting buttons and changing instances and setting things to over and... it doesn't make a lick of sense to me.
I'm not a dummy... but I've never used this program before, and a lot of the videos out there seem to assume a familiarity with the product.
It "sounds" like it should be something easy and simple enough to do, but I must be missing something obvious here.
We have imported our video into flash cs4 (we are using presentation mode to mimic a powerpoint presentation), we have gone into the component inspector and altered it so it doesn't autoplay. When it is on autoplay, it plays the audio throughout the entire presentation. We want the video to start on click (hit the spacebar or return or anything).

The actual .flv videos have been uploaded to my website so the player skin is the only thing on each page and each skin is linked to the url of the video location. Hope its making sense so far. My problem is that the first video works fine but the other 3 videos do not play...the video player skin does not even turn up. I have also uploaded the "ClearOverPlaySeekMute.swf" video skin file onto my website but still does not work..Heres the flash website (its my own portfolio). When i play the external swfs on their own they play perfectly put when imported into the main.fla they don't work properly,some of the functionality doesnt work properly..As an example I have made a jigsaw game using drag n drop and targets, where the code

appears I have problems because the code _root.dragger1.gotoAndStop("5"); doesnt work when imported as an external swf.I've tried using this._parent but no success.So I think the problem is to do with using _root which I was hoping would be sorted with this._lockroot = true;
I'm porting in an .flv to Flash for the first time. I created the .flv from an .MP4 using Media Encoder CS5, and then opened a new Actionscript 3 .fla in Flash Professional CS5, clicked File > Import > Import Video. Then selected 'Load external video with playback component'. Everything seems to have imported fine, but when I publish the SWF and import it via Dreamweaver CS5 and preview the page, the video is there, but the controls are not. There's just a white box where the controls should be. Also, the video is out of sync with the audio, which I believe is a problem with Media Encoder, not Flash.

I developed something in flex. It works great on FF and Safari. But on IE the "swf area" remains blank until mouse moves over it. I am embedding it like that:

i installed a few components (gaia framework, flash eff 2 demo and a rain drop water effect) to use in Flash.
in the Adobe Extension Manager they are all enabled , however, i dont see anything in Window -> Other Panels neither in the Components panel.
I would be nearly done with this project if it wasnt for this teetheing problem.The preloader animation is a spinning 3D logo which must be seen at least up to the first rotation otherwise the logo get all uggly and that's unacettable for a company logo.How do I tell the 3Dlogo_mc to play till the end even if the percentage has reached 100% and only than go to frame 5?[code]

I want only show a segment for that video, for example I want to start from minute 15 until minute 16, Only shows a minute for that video, but, I want to see that video as a complete short video of 1 minute duration.
I inserted a video into my movie clip. It freezes sometimes if internet connection is not fast enough but freezes at any frame. I want a loading icon displayed once it stops and disappear when it continues.
View 3 RepliesI have Background layer, Bkg_Image layer & Video layer. I have embeded the flv movie on Video layer. Though on stage it shows all the layers, but when I test the movie it shows only Background layer & Video layer. I can't see the Bkg_Image layer.
The Actions layer has external swf loading AS3 which is working fine. Only the problem with Bkg_Image layer which is imprortant for me.

I tested the video.swf both - both the html doc and the swf file and the skin is in each.I uploaded to my web server the following:1. video.swf,2. skin.swf3 video.html. and4. the AC_RunActiveContent.jsAll are in the same folder.When I goto the url the the video.html is located I do not see the skin ... on line.

There is a textfield using "Impact" as font inside a movieclip. I exported the movieclip as an swc so that I would be able to use it's graphics in my Flashdevelop project. When I add the swc to the screen, everything is fine but the text. It doesn't appear.

View 2 RepliesI am having an issue trying to get an SWF that features an imported video to play on our web server from its URL. About six months ago, I didn't have this issue. The only thing that has changed since then is that I have gone from Mac (Snow Leopard) to PC (Windows 7). I am using CS 5. I've attempted to perform that same action on the Mac in CS 4 without success.
I do as I usually do: import the video (in this case an MP4 or F4V) into a Flash file and add a skin using Flash's "Import Video" function. I publish the file as an SWF and can get it to play on my hard drive. Once I place it on the web server, I can get the file to play by browsing to the server's contents in Windows Explorer and clicking on the SWF file. However, when I attempt to access the movie via its URL, the file will not play. The skin I chose shows up, but the status bar in between the "play" and "stop" buttons just looks like it's loading continuously.
I've tried importing the video in several different formats, always with the same result. At first, I thought it was the MP4 file, but then I used Adobe Media Encoder to encode it into an F4V file with the same results. Everything plays fine locally (even from the web server). But when I attempt to access the video by its URL, it simply won't play.
I have an application that is showing an imported mp4 with the playback component. The video is to be displayed at a fixed size on the interface. When I launch the app it works perfect. However this is a projector file that I need to launch in fullscreen mode.
For fullscreen I am using

The app opens up in fullscreen however the video is taking up the entire screen now.. I need it to hold its place on the interface in fullscreen mode.
I imported multiple flvplayback videos on my file via the Video Wizard Import. After that I removed all videos except one. But it's still trying to load those old video and the skin of their player when I preload the file. I am sure there's no player on the stage except the one I need. And when I need to play the file, it's working well, the only problem is the extra loading for 6 skins that I don't use anymore and the time to look for 6 videos that are not there. So here're my questions;
1-When you import a video via Wizard, it there a script hidden somewhere that can be found? 2-When you import a flv to the stage, there's a loading bar saying getting metadata. Is there a place to edit or erase this metadata ?
3-Any other ideas of where I could look to find this hidden data or trace or ghost that needs to be remove from the file ?

i want to import a .wmv file in flash. when a play button is pressed, that video file should be played. but i want the video to be paused when (preferrably) the same play button is pressed again.
so:
-how to pause an imported video file?
-how to control both play and pause of the video with the same button?
Is there anyway to use the playback components to play a video imported into the library? (The .swf I'm creating has to be stand alone so I need the video to be imported). Also can the component video skins be imported also?

I tried altering a skin, but that always comes out wonky due to whatever coding they use. So I'm altering single video components and putting them in the mc what I want them. It looks great, but the problem is that when video goes to full screen, all of the controls dissappear and I can't figure out how to make them show up. How do I get a movie clip to display on top of the video when it goes to full screen in flash AS3?

In my flash movie, I've imported a very small video file. When the video is done playing, I wanted the user to be able to click a button and the video would play in reverse. I've gotten this to work with the _currentframe and _nextframe properties, but when I play the movie in reverse it's not as smooth. Here's an example of what happens: [URL] Once the movie is done playing, click on it. When it's playing in reverse, you can see it gets a little choppy when the guy gets towards the top of the rail. Has anyone found a way to play the movies backwards without having the speed affected? Maybe I shouldn't use the _currentframe property??
View 4 Repliesmy initiall 30 day trial of flash cs4 loaded but would not uninstall after the 30 days. eventually i just erased the folder in fruo worstration.later downloaded cs4 web premium package but setup.exe wouldnt work on it. redownloaded flash cs4 bout setup.exe didnt work. i get the swriling icon for a few seconds then it disappears and nothing happens. i notice it stilll running in the task manager hours later, but doesnt do anything.
