Jul 14, 2010in my projects i often use some xml files to load external text that i can format in css and it worked fine till now..i have a site that i am prograaming in italian and german and in both languages there is much text that contains special characters as "à " "ò" "è" "ù" "ä" "ü" and so on .. the problem is that when i write some text with this special characters in xml when the text is loaded in the flash this special characters are not recognised and instead of them a small square is displayed ..
i tryed to load the text from a html file instead of a xml file (because in HTML i know how to write theese special characters and let them display right in my html pages .. for example à = à but no way .. the flash now loades the text à instead of à ..

Scrolling Text Not Visible When Rotated?
Oct 31, 2009I have created a simple text scroll ( on (release) {object.scroll += 1} and it works fine.
Now the image in the background is slightly tilted so I have to rotate the text box a bit and I do this the text disappeares.
Any Idea how to get that rotated text box visible when rotated?

Is there a way to pass the textfield A text to a dynamic text input (flash) as I'd like to use the font embedding flash offers. I can make it work when loading a value from a txt file but I'm not sure how to access the value identified above as KitGroupID_16_TextOption_38 and make it appear in a dynamic input box. Eventually I might want to have 3 font choices for the user but I'd like to just see if I can get this working properly first.

Sep 9, 2010Using textfields. I need vertical text, rotated so that you could read it from bottom up. I can do it with static textfields, but I need to change the content of the textfield, so I cant use static textfield class. What other options are there? I've heard something about embedding fonts does the trick. The thing with embedding the font....I read that if it works, it increases the swf size quite significantly. Atm I am using a very narrow text field with multiline so that one letter is on a separate line, but it doesnt look good and I need to change it.

Apr 8, 2009I am using a dynamic text field to show html formatted text from .txt files. I have set the html property both in the properties panel and in AS, and it mostly works. All html formatting show up just fine, except for when "&" is used. Flash CS3 documentation indicates that & is supported, so.? All text after the & does not appear: the only text loaded is that that comes before it. I am using CS3, AS2, publishing in Flash Player 9. Sorry if this problem has been addressed elsewhere, but I've had no luck with my searches.

Jan 12, 2005i have a main movie and i load some external swf....the swf have their intro and their outro...i followed the tutorial from this site trasitions b/n external swf but when i put my files instead of the files of the tutorials does not work.
1.the 1st swf load normally but the scrollbar doesnt scrolls the text down
2.when i press the second button the 2nd swf loads but when i press again the 1st button or the 3rd button nothing loads. i'll really aprocciate if you help me with this because my head's spinning around i will attach the files to see what i mean..the file is saved in flash mx

Oct 18, 2009i've created a basic flash form which uses the following script for the send button:[code]it works well when i test it locally in the flash IDE.. it also works when i upload the SWF and the corresponding HTML file that holds it to url...but when i upload it to a subdomain (ex. url..), it doesnt work anymore.. after pressing the "send" button, my "sending input" animation shows up as expected, but then it gets stuck there and never proceeds to the "input sent" animation.. the message never gets sent to my email..

Nov 29, 2009I have a class that loads data from a text file and puts it into an array called tdv.importedTxtArray (public var).In a separate class i have written [code]The infoArray does not then contain the imported text however because tdv.importedTxtArray is not given its popper contents until about 1/2 a second after the tdvLoader class executes (i.e: when Event.COMPLETE is run and the array is populated with strings from the external text file). Subsequently in the code above infoArray is set to a blank array.How can i get the code in my separate class to ''wait' until tdv.importedTxtArray is properly populated before accessing it.
