View 3 RepliesI am successfully inserted a PHP-script that communicates from the Flash-file. But the tutorial I found doing this, didnt have a guide on how to insert checkboxes in the Flash-file and how to configurate the PHP-script for more input objects.
In the first place I am interested in inserting checkboxes, would be glad if anyone had a good guide on how to further develope a email php script.

I tried to create some, such as "Drag and Drop" or "True and False." However, the instructions weren't adequate. I couldn't figure out what Adobe was telling me to do. I went online to Adobe, and tried to find tutorials.It seems, to me, that there Quiz Learning Interactions are included only in the version of Flash CS5 that comes with the e-Learning suite.

It's a simple flash movie of vectors/tweening.I want to insert it in my homepage, but when I publish it, I get quite a lot of code. I've been looking around & I see some sites that have all this javascript & some that don't.Could someone help me identify the correct way to embed my .swf file? I'm not a fan of .js since it doesn't work if it's turned off in a user's browser. I want my .swf file to play as long as the visitor has Flash 8 or higher installed. And if they don't, I want to display a .png instead.[code]

I am developing a Jeopardy-like game in Flash CS5. I am familiar with Flash CS5, but new to AS3. I don't know the language well, and to top it off my code hints don't work in Flash CS5. After researching this I've learned it is a bug that Adobe has yet to resolve. Anyway I am trying to program this game with very little knowledge about the language I am using. I've been watching tutorials and googling specific questions, but it comes down to the fact that I don't speak the language and don't have the resource (code hints) to make the language more available to me.What I am trying to do is simple:Imagine a Jeopardy game board.On the answer screen there is a button that takes you back to the gameboard. Here's the catch: the gameboard must remember which boxes have been chosen and not display those dollar values.
I understand how to program the buttons. I've been using gotoandstop for that. I am trying to figure out the best way to program this so the game remembers which boxes have already been chosen throughout the entire game.The specific question I have at the moment is how to reference an instance on another frame than the frame that has the code on it. For example: The gameboard is on frame 5. When the category A for $200 box (buttonA1) is clicked a Boolean var called 'chosen' is created and assigned the value of true. then the gotoandStop command moves the game to frame 10 which is where the question for category A for $200 lives. There is a button on frame 10 that takes you to the answer, which is on frame 11. And on frame 11, when you click on the button to take you back to the gameboard, I want it so that if chosen = true then buttonA1.visible = false. I get an error because buttonA1 doesn't exist on frame 11 - it lives on frame 5 and I have no idea how to reference it so that it will not be visible.

Several months ago I created numerous flash files that use a wingdings checkmark. Recently I had to update these files, and now every single one of them displays as the Arial equivalent (umlauted u). It shows as the umlaut in FLA and in SWF. Selecting the unlauted u, looking at properties confirms the font is set to wingdings. Copying a wingdings checkmark out of another app and pasting into Flash, it immediately overwrites to the umlaut. In fact, changing it to any font just makes it a slightly different umlaut.
The easy question is, "What changed between when it worked, and when it doesn't?" and the answer is I'm not sure. It's the same Flash installation, same machine, same OS, etc. I've tested this with co-workers. Those who open the exact same file on XP machines see the checkmark. Those who open the exact same file on other Vista machines see the umlaut. I have an XP machine to my left, and a Vista machine to my right, and I'm seeing both a checkmark and an umlaut off the same FLA.
I am trying to program a simple chat program. I have looked all over the net for an easy to use tutorial for exchanging information between Flash 5 and a MySQL database. The reason this is so hard is because I just started PHP and MySQL last week.
A. Sending 1 line of text to a table in a MySQL database via PHP.
B. Allow flash to retrieve the latest line of text from a table.

I need to simply create "swf" files from a number of videos I have finished in Premiere Pro 5.5.
These videos are 800 x 600 videos that display at "point-of-sale". The spec is swf and not flv.
(I do not need to do anything else in Flash apart from create the video file with the swf extension.)
We are designing a Flash-based language course, and I am not sure which architecture we have to choose. The content won't be uploaded to the Internet, it will be used only locally.Possible architectures:1) A single SWF with all the data stored internally - it seems a rather clumsy and inefficient way (or it's not?).2) To make a Flash-based interface, and to keep the data saved in a MySQL database. It presumably allows to organize the content better, avoiding self-repetitions. The problem is that the language teacher (who is not an IT specialist) will have to install additional software to handle MySQL.

I need to make a simple Flash-based sound player for a website for a newly-released novel (http://www.bearriverbooks.com/index.html). I want the user to click on what appears to be an icon (or image), which kicks open a simple controller and starts playing a sound file (a radio interview, which I will probably export using Flash's voice compression). Nothing fancy. Just want the visitor to hear the sound and be able to apply simple controls (stop/start/rewind/volume).
I can learn ActionScript, I suppose, since I used to dream in Lingo, but my life would be a lot simpler if I could just publish a controller without having to roll my own. I'd like to think there's a magic button somewhere that can do this, but I haven't found it yet.

View 2 RepliesI've created a class based eLearning app that's based around flash engine which draws in XML and generates all the non tracked and tracked pages dynamically from the external content (it's multilingual and class template driven)I now have to make it 'Scorm compliant'
That is where i'm coming unstuck. I've only ever seen scorm apps as a physical file per tracked 'page / SCO'Where as I have literally a single swf and external xml, images, videos etc that are being drawn in at runtime.Is there a way of setting up the manifest so that it can target the one active/engine swf file but I can send complete/score/inprogress etc data back for each 'page' that has been completed. I'm tracking all the completion, time and score data etc internally to the flash app but haven't the first clue how to pass it out to Scorm so that data is recorded for each tracked page in each tracked module.

I've only had several Flash and AS classes so my knowledge on them is pretty limited.The eLearning I created in Adobe Captivate 5 is launched by my employer's LMS in Internet Explorer. As I'm sure you're aware, IE maintanes focus on certain keystrokes. The eLearning covers our proprietary software where a user must use certain combos such as Ctrl + L, Ctrl + E and the like.I've been searching for a solution that would allow the user to perform the actual keystroke. One of our IT guys found some code and inserted it into the htm and js files that Captivate generates and it worked in Firefox but not IE and IE is the only browser my employer supports.I am already employing a workaround but it's just not the same as being able to have the user perform the actual keystroke.

embed into timeline, added a logo
I published it, but I need a .flv, not a .swf.
I made a little movieclip animation, it can be seen on [URL]. I have written the code for it but then have realised that I need to insert a link to the images, each image is supposed to have its own link. When I go to insert a button flash somehow decides to ignore part of the code I wrote and not function properly therefore I cannot have a link and a working animation going on at the same time. The worst thing is that I need to put two separate links in the same movie clip. Is there any way of doing it so it wont disturb the code? or maybe is there a way to insert a link to the images?
View 6 RepliesWhen I wanted to insert a SWF into a PowerPoint 2007 presentation, I would use the More Controls dialog in PowerPoint's Developer tab to insert a Shockwave/Flash object. But in PowerPoint 2010, that control is missing from the dialog. Where did it go? When I click the Register Custom DLL, there's no obvious file to choose, either.
Has anyone else run into this? I'm not looking for a way to convert a SWF into a video that can be embedded or using a 3rd-party plug-in or anything like that. I know how to do those things. I'm specifically looking to insert a SWF using only what's built into PowerPoint and Flash
I've remarked on the web that many clips are precede by an advert. Does this advert is added in the code? Or, there is a way to tell the player to play first, the advert, and secondly the movie?
View 5 RepliesI animate flourish using adobe flash then export it as swf to use it again in another flash movie when i import it i use these steps:
1- I make a symbol(movie clip)
2- I import the swf to the stage
3-then I back to Scene1 to control its size and position in my movie
BUT when I finish all these steps and play my movie the flurish too slow and not soft as original its cracks!!

I have converted some PowerPoints into swf files. I want to insert/link the files into the main FLA file. But when I do it the way i normally do it, it puts the PowerPoints swf at full size 1024 x 768. Is there a way of fixing the visual size (800x 600) of the swf within the FLA.
View 3 Repliesi'm a newbie using Flash CS4 and AS3. A retired social worker, I need to create a basic Flash drawing tool for an eLearning project to teach students how to draw their family tree.
The drawing tool would allow the students to add multiple circles and squares to symbolize their family members, plus text labels for names, ages, and they would need to be able to draw connecting lines between the circle and square symbols. Finally, in order to continue work on the drawing, over time, they would need to be able to save their drawings to be re-opened and edited (add new symbols, erase incorrect ones, etc.). Once the drawing is completed, they would need to be able to print a copy.
Being a newbie (but I have done some related scripting: JavaScripting-ECMA-262, HTML, CSS), I am not sure if this can be done in AS3, Flash CS4. But, if it is possible, I would like to learn how to create this.
