View 4 RepliesSeveral months ago I created numerous flash files that use a wingdings checkmark. Recently I had to update these files, and now every single one of them displays as the Arial equivalent (umlauted u). It shows as the umlaut in FLA and in SWF. Selecting the unlauted u, looking at properties confirms the font is set to wingdings. Copying a wingdings checkmark out of another app and pasting into Flash, it immediately overwrites to the umlaut. In fact, changing it to any font just makes it a slightly different umlaut.
The easy question is, "What changed between when it worked, and when it doesn't?" and the answer is I'm not sure. It's the same Flash installation, same machine, same OS, etc. I've tested this with co-workers. Those who open the exact same file on XP machines see the checkmark. Those who open the exact same file on other Vista machines see the umlaut. I have an XP machine to my left, and a Vista machine to my right, and I'm seeing both a checkmark and an umlaut off the same FLA.
produce some very simple checkboxes to insert into an elearning program.The Checkboxes he created before he left are apparently overly complex and refer to _root and/or _level0, which is a no-no for the elearning software.I've done some web searches to see what I can find but honestly I haven't felt this stumped since first year calculus.
View 3 RepliesI'm looking for a tutorial to create a timeline with interactivity similar to the links below.
[URL]
I came across this interactive timeline from HP... [URL] Does anybody know of any tutorials on how they are able to expand each content box in the timeline? When you click on each box, it expands from it's location and fills the screen. Once you close the box, it shrinks back to it's original location.
View 3 RepliesI created an interactive image pan (750 x 300). I then tried to add the 750 x 300 panning image as a movie clip as part of a larger stage (750 x 550), so that it was a band across part of the stage with static content above and below. When tested the scroll keeps going off the end of the image? How you can add the interactive scroll as an element of a page rather than just on its own without the scroll going off the end of the image?
View 11 RepliesI'm like a child who wandered into the middle of a movie and wants to know... How do I pull of something similar to a standard NYTimes interactive timeline? I'm not looking for handouts, necessarily. I know the basics of creating a timeline (um, making buttons), but like I implied, I'm very new to the world of Flash. I just have a few questions: I figured I'd go frame by frame for the points on the timeline - one point leads to a frame in which the content box is appropriately positioned. Is this efficent enough, or will this have negative consequences for some reason that I'm unaware of? Does the content box need to be be a movie clip if I plan on housing more than text? How can I ensure that my file size won't become absurdly large?
I'm sure I can reference a book I have for a little bit of explanation, but tutorial books blow, and I'd rather have a dialogue with someone, or some people, about producing a decent timeline. I guess my main concern is ensuring that the file isn't too big.
I'm loading an interactive external SWF into my main timeline. The SWF is a game and when it's completed successfully it plays an animation on the _root timeline. I'm aware that the external SWF _root action is now referring to the the main timeline, but I'm not sure how to make it refer to it's own.
View 1 RepliesI have no experience with Adobe Flash because others have done this out of house in the past. (time has come for me to learn - quickly)
I need to simply create "swf" files from a number of videos I have finished in Premiere Pro 5.5.
These videos are 800 x 600 videos that display at "point-of-sale". The spec is swf and not flv.
(I do not need to do anything else in Flash apart from create the video file with the swf extension.)
I'm trying to create a simple interactive animation for a website that consists of three rollover areas on a page. When you mouse over an area, a bit of explanatory text is revealed by animating a mask over some text. The text is left displayed until a mouseover of a different area occurs.Let's call the three mouseover targets A, B, and C.A MOUSE_OVER event listener is registered for all three targets. In the event handler for each, I'm following a pattern like this:
Code:
A.transform.colorTransform = highlighted;
B.transform.colorTransform = notHighlighted;
[code].....
How do I link a button thats embedded in frame 2 (music page timeline) to a frame in the main timeline ( frame 3= biography page)? Both pages are on the same scene with link buttons embedded in each page independent timeline.
View 1 Repliesi want to create a map that can read data that come from access or excel (as data source) and reflect on the map the data source include jobs being done on different places on that area and highlight what and where are the current jobs being done.and all . basically , data source actions converted on the map ?
View 2 RepliesHi,
I am building a cryptex( the dial device from Da Vinci Code)(See attached image) I built a 3D version and I want the user to be able to turn the dials and when they release, it triggers an action. There are two ways I am considering, but not sure which is easier considering I am a beginner to actionscript:
1.) I can render out small movies of each dial turning 360 degrees, but would it be possible for the user to drag the dial and cycle through the keyframes of the clip? I saw an example of using a slider to cycle through keyframes but don't know if this is possible.
2.) The dials were built and animated in flash. (Though I am unsure if this can be done without some 3D Flash plugin, which I don't have)
Any thought or tutorials that relate to this would be greatly appreciated. I looked for slot machine tutorials, since it has similar dials but had no luck.
Thanks
Also, I have Flash Professional CS5
I am in the learning process. Working with FlashCS5 and AS3. if the issue appears to be too simple for you. Placed a movieclip(mcassessJohn) on the main timeline and moved to the frame labelled "johnFeedback" in the movieclip timeline using the following actionscript code.
[Code]...
in the "Interactive 3D Video Flip" tutorial i take the cod and applied to my stuff I noticed that when the page was rotated the Flash player consume 40-50% from my CPU , how it's possible? the animation it's finish but the CPU it's 40-50% used . tested in mozilla and IE and from Flash ( when i test the movie) Pentium 4 and athlon 64 X2 tested!!!.. windows 7 last version of flash player 10.045.

if it is possible to create your own interactive email signature using flash or dreamweaver and if so is there a place where I can find some information on how to do this. I am new at the webside of design and I am looking to create this for the company I work for. I have seen websites where you can pay for this service but was looking to find out how to do it myself. Not sure if I need to purchase an add on software or not to be able to do this
View 2 RepliesI have made a panorama in PS CS5. Is it possible to export it to Flash in order to make an interactive Flash panorama, where I can pan around?
View 1 RepliesWe would like to create a training module for our client that shows them how to use a device like a cell phone. We'd like to be able to use a 3d model (preferably created in 3ds Max, since we own that) and bring it into Flash, where they could click on various buttons and get feedback.I found something similar to what we're looking for on Newegg's site:
http:[url]...Just click on the "3d View" down below in the Overview section.What should we get to achieve this?
I've to develop an interactive presentation for a customer and was thinking of flash.But I would like to have anyone opinion.Before this project, a dvd player was playing in loop a simple dvd video.Now, we would like to play an interactive video on a touchable device (http:url]....).The main menu will only present 4 button to play each video, any click on a playing video will return to the main menu.
First of all, will I be able to play a fullscreen video in high quality ? 1366 x 768 ? Which video format do I need ? FLV seem to be pretty poor quality ?
For a project I am thinking about making an interactive map of the cemetery on my college campus. I would like the map to function like this map here: [URL]. I'll start by making the map in Illustrator but from there I'm not really sure where to go because I am new to Flash. I would like the name of the item the mouse is over to be displayed and then when clicked on a box comes up with additional information. If the item the mouse is over can change color that would be nice too. Panning and zooming would also be great if they are not incredibly hard.
View 5 RepliesI'm currently having an issue creating a set of buttons that are supposed to turn individual layers on and off. The layers I have are: fishing spots, facilities, trails, map elements, an aerial photo, and parking lots. It is giving error #s 1119 and 1120. Could anyone explain possible reasons I'm getting these errors.It might be worth mentioning that I used a tutorial made with Flash CS4, but I'm writing the code in CS5. Here is the exact code I'm using:
spots._visible = false;
facilities._visible = false;
parking._visible = false;
elements._visible = true;

I want to make an interactive gizmo to explore 20%. so I want a little slider and a red (20%) and a green (80%) bar so that when I slide the slider to different numbers - lets say between 1 and 100 I get a graphical representation of 20% of the number selected as well as the actual numbers? so at 50 red column is 10 green is 40. at 100 red is 20 and green is 80?
I could just have a MC with different frames and select a few numbers to highlight and fake it.
I would like to create my page links so when I roll over the text(link) enlarges and then once pressed a swf animation plays.When it stops it automatically directs to the desired page.
View 5 RepliesI have a site where all the pages have a common SWF embedded at the top (Nav and banner), but the rest of the page is HTML.Everything is working fine, but I'm finding the 'independence' between the HTML and Flash is making for some sloppy transitions from page to page.I was expecting the SWF to be delayed, at least for the first page visit(and I have a preload routine inside the swf to make it's delay and appearance a bit more visually pleasant), but was surprised to sometimes find the SWF appearing and playing while the HTML content was delayed (resulting in a SWF floating in black).What I'm wondering is if there's a way I can do some sort of preload on my index page.BUT, not the standard one that I'm sure everyone would suggest (like the javascript image 'preload', or the newer 'css visibility' preload trick). The problem with the standard one is that it doesn't check to see if everything is loaded.What I'm after is a routine on my index page that invisibly loads some of the elements from my inner pages (common swf, maybe some of the images) and WAITS until it's done before moving to the inner pages (displaying the company logo and/or a load status in the meantime).Many people would suggest a preloader inside the common SWF on my inner pages (which I have), but the problem with that on its own is that it doesn't stop the HTML from displaying.
I'm trying to figure out a way to do a preloader (like those in a SWF, which loops until everything is loaded) that controls both the SWF AND the HTML.Recently, I found that you can use one swf to preload another, which would be a potential solution, as I could make an SWF on the index page whose sole purpose is to load (invisibly) the common SWF, displaying the load status and then loading an inner html page once it's done.Problem is, I have bee having trouble finding the coding for that, as most searches for preloaders end up being about standard preloaders, where it's monitoring the same SWF that the code is on, as opposed to controlling a second, external SWF.Can someone point me to or provide me with the proper coding/procedure for a preloader that controlls a second external swf or give me a better solution?
one?
I have a project for a site that sells fishing lures.I want to have an animated index page before moving on to the home page. My idea is to have a boat sitting on a pond fishing lines in the water, when a fish jumps out of the water, the water ripples, the next time you see the fish it's got a hook in it mouth and jumping out of the water.how do I go about it? How to I create the water rippling? I think with the fish I can do easily enough with it jumping on and off stage. Would I do the water with shape tweens?
View 1 RepliesI am pretty new to flash but I am kind of getting the hang of things. I am trying to create a interactive slideshow in flash that will not end up on the web. These are three quick questions I currently have. Thanks for any help you can provide
1. Let's say I have an icon of a person in my flash file, how can I make it so that when my moves rolls over the person a thinking bubble appears and when it rolls off the bubble disappears?
2. If I have a small image of a page version of a .pdf file in my flash file, how can I make it so that when the little .pdf page icon is click the .pdf file is launched?
3. I understand how to create a square button over text and mess with its up/down/over/click settings, but I am wondering how I can do something like change the color of the text when it is clicked or when the mouse is over it? Right now I only know how to change the color of the square button.
i am completely new to the whole aspect of flash and dreamweaver etc. and have recently been given a project of editing an interactive CD rom which was produced for a client by an outside company.
I have managed to grab the basics of changing the text and the images and stuff, but when i export it as a .swf flash movie, when i view the cd, all of the slides come on in very quick succession,it is supposed to be the first slide and then you click on a "next" button for each other slide,i know i've messed with the interactive elements somehow but i don't know how, or how to fix them as i haven't got a clue about the interactive aspects to flash.
I am looking to design and add an interactive flash part to our company's website. Since we do a lot of business planning and consulting, we have come up with a great idea, but unfortunately, none of us really know how to create it. Basically from what I have researched, I will need to incorporate animated buttons in a flash movie. I have attached a quick sketch of what the website will look like. The part I need to work with is the middle section with the boxes.
What I need to do is this:
The 5 gray boxes need to be buttons that link to their related pages. When the page loads, I want the animation to draw the first box, create the line, draw the second box, draw the next line, etc. until all the boxes and lines are drawn. This is a process map and since we do a lot of these for our work, we thought it would be nice for us to incorporate this into our website. Furthermore, it would be ideal if these boxes were links to different pages on the site as well.
So my question is this:
-What do I need to create in order to have this animation work
-Where is a good place to start looking in regards to creating something like this
-Is this even possible
my latest project is to create an interactive version of the map for the game, GTA: San Andreas. Here are some of the features I would like to add:(Images have been made as a quick demonstration - the real thing will use the map)URL...Zoomed out, selectable pieces of the map (like jigsaw pieces).The different "jigsaw" pieces of the map are based on the borderlines of where each town/village starts/ends.URL...When a region on the map is chosen, it zooms into the region, allowing the user to select a town/village within that region. This screen will have a "back" button on it to allow the user to go back to the whole map.URL...After choosing a town/village, the last screen appears, providing an image (screenshot from in-game) of the destination with information to the left or right of the image. This screen will also have a "back" button on it to allow the user to go back to the chosen region. The detail on the map will also show basic places that the player of the game would like to know, such as hospital locations, ammu-nation locations (gun shops) and safehouses.Once I have the basic version done, I plan on updating it by adding locations of other items, such as vehicles, collectables and weapons.
1) Is it possible to make oddly-shaped hotspots, which are interactable (clickable and what not)? I know you can make rectangular hotspots, but the borderlines of the towns and villages in the game aren't straight lines, and most require more than 4 lines to make the shape.
2) Is there any way I can learn the code that Flash uses? Just so I understand it a bit more, since I am using it for a two-year school project too, which goes towards my GCSEs next year. I would just like to get more familiar with Flash, and maybe the other programs, Illustrator and Fireworks. The only ones I know well are Photoshop and Dreamweaver.
I would like to create an interactive diagram and somebody said I should use Flash to do it.
The idea is to create an organisational chart (like the ones you can produce in MS Word 2010). Each position will have its own box or button. When a user clicks on that box or button, a Word document or internet link will be activated and take the user to this other resource.
The reason why I am choosing Flash is because I would like to make alot of these diagrams and they have to go into Moodle. Apparently Flash is the only program I should use to import the diagram into Moodle.
