Redirected MP3 Stream Do Not Load In Webkit Browsers - Flash 9
Jan 14, 2012
I'm busy creating a mp3 player (for a music store). Everything works perfectly. Some of the files will be redirected to the original source (located on other server) when Flash wants to load the stream. In all major browsers this works perfectly except Webkit browsers such as Chrome and Safari. I have tried to send a "Moved Permanently" 301 header as well as a normal redirect but does not work. Also when i try to download it from the address bar nothing happen (in other browsers i get a popup to download the stream).

I use a flex app (A) to load another flex app (B) using SWFLoader (both built using Flex Builder 3 sometime ago).Everything works fine as expected across all (IE, FF, Chrome, Safari) desktop browsers.However, if I use a TabNavigator within the flex app (B) then when you click on any of the tabs it unloads the flex app (B) and re-starts flex app (A). This behaviour appears to be limited to Webkit based browsers (Chrome & Safari) the rest of the browsers (IE, FF) work fine.

I am currently building a custom jPlayer instance for a streaming media file. Having modified a supplied demo, I am able to get the player working in all major browsers except IE.
I have checked the swf path many times, which is loading without fault. I think I am unable to get the trigger to load the file in IE, resulting in "Attempt to issue media playback commands, while no mediaurl is set. Use mediaurl() to set. Context play()".
I am using an event trigger CSC class to play the media "track" in my source code (not mediaurl directly).
Below I will demo the current code, however I feel it would be more beneficial if someone could construct some pseudo code for me outlining the exact requirements to get this to work, and also an explanation of the GUI button CSS handles, so that I can get these working properly too (I may need to modify the JS, which is currently the standard).
I am using IE8 32 w/ Flash 8 and jPlayer 2.1.0
I only need the following functions:
Play button (jp_play?) - this should trigger the stream and then enable multiple other classes (jp_volume, jp_playline, jp_stop etc)
Stop button (to replace play button) - should stop (not pause) the stream and disable previously enabled classes.
If it helps jp_pause gives me all the required functionality with regard to hiding elements, except the mediaurl is paused, I need it stopping.
Current code snippets:
// Instance jPlayer
my_jPlayer.jPlayer({
ready: function () {
...

I inherited a flash website about a year ago.. not sure what version it was originally done in. I've made changes on the model last year using CS3 Flash Action script 2, but don't remember the flash version when published. The audio in question is the music that plays in the background when you get on the website:

When I changed the image of the model this last week using CS4, I published it as Flash8 actionscript 2... now, the music plays on Mac Safari and Mac Firefox, but not on the Windows versions of IE or Firefox..
this is the code called sound control
onClipEvent(load)
{
_root.soundstatus="on";
_root.mySound = new Sound(_level0);
....
then there's the stop() that's used when the music is toggled off..
I've tried updating the flash player in Windows to the latest release, and I even tried republishing as flash 10, just not sure where to troubleshoot this..

My flex application has a very bad load time (approx 5 to 8 wasted seconds) but only for FF and IE, Chrome appears fine.I've determined there is some kind of useless idle time before the application's initalization event fires. This is not just my development box, it happens everywhere. It is consistent across Flash version, OS and browser versions too. I've tried multiple. Chrome consistenly works very fast, IE and FF have this strange lag.However locally, whether via localhost or remote IP, it doesn't have this issue. I'm sure you'll think it is the download time, but my SWF is very small (400K) and I've purposely made external images that are very small. I also prefetch the images via JavaScript, and firebug reports the the cache is used later. The download size can't really justify the wait time. Not to mention, why is it so much faster in chrome? Is chrome really that fast downloading images and SWF files?
Also, minimal JavaScript is called from Flex, and I've more or less ruled out that is the issue.So it isn't Chrome's super fast handling of JavaScript.I don't see any large load times with Firebug.I see JavaScript excute in the browser inline during a page load, but then the appliation init within the SWF doesn't fire for about 5 to 8 seconds later.I don't see why flash on Chrome is so much faster, nor what could be taking so long for Flash to kick in.Tried the Flex Profiler, but memory usage spikes AFTER the bad load time.Otherwise, I don't know enough or see enough to recognize a problem with it.

I am totally new to Flash and SWF file.I am using Flash professional 8. I have this swf file which plays a flv from URL-xyz.com. This server redirects to the rtmp server and streams the flv from there. I would like to capture this rtmp url in my action script.The _url parameter gives me URL-xyz.com and not the redirected url.Is there any way to capture this redirected url ?

You can build apps in HTML using Adobe AIR which parses it using Webkit, can this be done in Flash?For example you have a string that contains <html><body><b>hello world</b></body></html> and then call a function that runs the WebKit parser over it and then outputs 'hello world' in bold to the stage?

I'm using adobe's example.swf to provide inline flash upgrades for users. However, if the example.swf is embedded in an iframe, and the user gets redirected, adobe will redirect them back to the inner iframe page, causing breakage.
Is there any way for this redirect to bring the user back to the outer frame?

I have a developed a browser-like Mac Desktop app which uses WebKit to render web content. My app links against the standard system WebKit framework (it does not bundle a private WebKit framework).
However, I would like to bundle a private Flash plugin in my app bundle. When my app runs, I would like WebKit to prefer the private Flash plugin in my bundle over any other Flash plugin on the system.
How can I alter WebKit's plugin search path such that my app will load my private Flash plugin bundled with my app?

nav item consists of a ball that "follows" the cursor in relation to where it is on the page. JS is used to gather the X/Y info from off the Flash stage and create vars to be used by the Flash movie to move the "orb" in relation to the cursor position. For some reason, FF and Chrome on PC fall short here.I've tried everything from setting the Flash movie to "opaque" and positioning a transparent DIV over it, all to no avail.Any thoughts on this? Has anyone encountered something like this?

We've been trying every trick to fix a problem with long lag time in video startup in some environments. In particular, there's a long time gap between the time the custom .swf skin appears and the video starts to play. Only some combinations of OS for the FMS server and client browser shows the problem, but for those combinations it is consistent and appears to be a constant of approximately 59 seconds, regardless of the length of .mp4 or number of times played in our custom .swf. (Our .swf accepts a supplied file location for the .mp4 to stream.)
On our main server (Win2008R2), we run a virtual machine that has Win2008R2 installed. If you click on the video URL from a Mac Safari browser on MacBookPro, the load is FAST (a few seconds). On the other hand if you click from IE on any Windows machine (VM or native, Win7 or WinX), the load is SLOW (one minute). If you try locally on the server virtual machine with the FMS and web server (IIS) installed, the load is also SLOW. The reference flash video (i.e. NOT through our .swf) loads FAST.
...

We have a Flex client and a server that is using the Spring/Blazeds project. After the user logs in and is authenticated, the spring security layer sends a redirect to a new URL which is where our main application is located. However, within the flex client, I'm currently using HTTPService for the initial request and I get the redirected page sent back to me in its entirety. How can I just get the URL so that I can use navigatetourl to get where the app to go where it needs to?

I created this very simple MP3-player. Which works good for most part I think, but there's one problem. If I click on the play-button and skip quickly through to the next track, while the first track wasn't even playing yet, I get to hear both songs mixed through eachother when they both finished loading. Apparently the first track was still loading. So I'm kinda wondering if there's a way to stop the load of the first MP3 stream when I skip to the next one?Here's the link to my MP3-player with 5 one minute clips of songs: http:.....

I noticed this bug recently on youtube and facebook while I was trying to watch some videos the video was not playing I had to restart my computer again to fix the issue. This is a temporary problem which could be resorted by giving a restart.But I thought of bringing this bug to notice. I was wondering, because of my recent liking of AS3 and active flash content:
Just how compatible are flash files in web browsers?
Will they run in every browser? (obviously not, but which ones don't they run in / which ones do they have trouble running in?)
Why, in Internet Explorer does it always give me a hard time about running active content with its security warnings? (is there a way to get around this / allow the content to play normally without hassle? e.g When I got to Sony.com Internet Explorer does not complain about running that active content.)
Is there anything else you know about the compatibility that you would like to share?

Not sure if there's a fix for this or not. I've had this happen to me on the last two sites I've built. I embed the flash movie into my site in Dreamweaver, and everything works perfectly in Safari. When I view the site in Firefox however, the flash movie loads a few pixels off (see pics). Anyone have a fix for this?I've tried setting the vertical align of the movie to "bottom," and I've also tried dragging all of the cells tight in the site. I've even tried rebuilding the site all together. As soon as I bring in the flash, the cells get off in FirefoxSite in Safari:

I've been working on a couple of media viewers/players which use XML playlists to dynamically generate their content.
One is this mp3 player:
The other is this image viewer: http://tav.ind.in/stuff/comicexperiment/comic.html[/URL
Both work fine in Firefox and Safari, but in Internet Explorer, neither one loads the information, and all text fields read as undefined.
