Oct 28, 2009Recently I installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 32 bit on my HP laptop, and installed all the CS4 applications of Design Premium. The installation went fine, and almost all the updates (Photoshop 11.0.1, InDesign 6.0.4, etc..) installed with no problems. The only one It doesn't allow me to install is the Flash 10.0.2 update. It gives an error that "the installer detected a problem and cannot continue" and then shows some options to ignore the update.

For Flash Player ActiveX you have to save SWF file to a temporary location to load it and play, isn't it? You'll have to create a corresponding link that you can pass to the Flash Player ActiveX and then delete SWF file after it is played. Of course, high security level can't be guaranteed, but I think it's good, if at least no temporary files are created (can be intercepted LOCALLY). So the question is how to make Flash Player ActiveX be able to load SWF file directly from any source without usage of temp files?

In the simple example of Skype, the OS returns control to the Flex app when Skype exits. But what about native applications which have their own event model and wants to communicate with the Flex event model. For example, a Face detection system which shows "Hello" on a Flex app when the camera detects a face. Can this be done in the current Flex framework?

Aug 29, 2011I have a native (Obj-C, standard Xcode project) application and I'd like to integrate a partners iOS application (or specifically, it's functionality) into it as just another view in my application. The problem is that their application is a Flex/Air app. I really don't understand the Adobe compilation process on how it gets from a bunch of flex code down to an IPA. I don't see intermediate projects, shared objects, etc on the disk to produce that IPA. It looks like it doesn't rely on the Apple tool chain... as I understand it, you can produce the IPA on Windows as well. Is there any way to build that Flex app in such a way that I can import it into Xcode so I can link against it and use it as a library from within my application? While I specifically used iOS as an example since that is the most important platform, we'll want to apply this solution to our respective Android and Blackberry 6 apps as well.

Jun 22, 2011I have at least one user that has received an "Adobe Security Updates" e-mail from Adobe stating, "A critical vulnerability has been identiied in Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Reader". I say at least one user because only one user has forwarded this message to my CIO.Now I know that my user is not running the latest version of these two applications.I can fix that.What I want to know is, why is he getting this e-mail?Anyone know who at Adobe I should contact to find out why?Is this because Adobe somehow knows that he's not running the most current version?Or is it just something that Adobe sent out because it seemed like a good idea at the time.
I push Adobe Flash Player, Adobe Shockware Player, and Adobe Reader when I install Windows 7, and autoupdates are disabled as part of the installation process.I'd rather handle the patching myself so I have a better feel for what is going on across my network.This user was upgraded from Adobe Acrobat 9.x to 10.x.That upgrade was performed manually be someone else.I wonder if THAT is why my uses is receiving this email?

Feb 9, 2011After updating to the latest version of Flash (10.2.152.26), our web application began crashing. The application is written using Flex.I'm using Windows 7 (32-bit), but it has crashed on Windows Vista (32-bit) as well. It crashes on IE8, Firefox 3.6, and Chrome 9.However, it does not crash when using the debug version of the Flash Player.I've tried enabling and disabling the hardware acceleration. I've also updated my video drivers to the latest version.The Event Viewer shows the following when IE crashes:

Sep 1, 2011Is updating a Flex Mobile Application done in the same way an Air application is updated? Can't seem to find information specifically for mobile on this. Apparently, if I trace out Updater.isSupported, it gives back false. From the Adobe documentation: The AIR update framework is only supported in the desktop profile. It is not supported for extended desktop applications (applications installed with a native installer), and it is not supported on the mobile profile (iPhone applications written with ActionScript 3.0). Check the Updater.isSupported property at runtime to see if the update framework is supported. So how do you implement updates for Mobile Apps created with Flex (Android + iOs)?

After the update the messages aren't received correctly at the client side - one byte is missing at the end. The first message is correct, the byte is missing from the end of the second message and the Flash stops because of the parse error.

Flex :: Internet Explorer 9 Does Not Update With Changes On Server From Application
Jan 6, 2012I have a flex application that when i update on the server i can see the changes in both firefox and and chrome but I.E continues to show the application before the change... Its as if I.E had the application Cashed somewhere. I dont understand where it could be holding it. I have tried clearing my cookies and i still get the same view before my changes. Has anyone else had this problem before with Internet Explorer?
