I am very new to this as I have said in other posts and I would like to have an application which updates infomation news posts etc;So im not sure how to go about this but I have heard I need a web service. If you need a web service couls someone tell me how to make one or if you dont need a web service.

View 3 RepliesAfter updating to the latest version of Flash (10.2.152.26), our web application began crashing. The application is written using Flex.I'm using Windows 7 (32-bit), but it has crashed on Windows Vista (32-bit) as well. It crashes on IE8, Firefox 3.6, and Chrome 9.However, it does not crash when using the debug version of the Flash Player.I've tried enabling and disabling the hardware acceleration. I've also updated my video drivers to the latest version.The Event Viewer shows the following when IE crashes:

Is updating a Flex Mobile Application done in the same way an Air application is updated? Can't seem to find information specifically for mobile on this. Apparently, if I trace out Updater.isSupported, it gives back false. From the Adobe documentation: The AIR update framework is only supported in the desktop profile. It is not supported for extended desktop applications (applications installed with a native installer), and it is not supported on the mobile profile (iPhone applications written with ActionScript 3.0). Check the Updater.isSupported property at runtime to see if the update framework is supported. So how do you implement updates for Mobile Apps created with Flex (Android + iOs)?
View 1 Repliese an application which is talking with Flash clients through sockets. The messages are in XML and not too long, up to 1000 chars. After the update the messages aren't received correctly at the client side - one byte is missing at the end. The first message is correct, the byte is missing from the end of the second message and the Flash stops because of the parse error.

I have a flex application that when i update on the server i can see the changes in both firefox and and chrome but I.E continues to show the application before the change... Its as if I.E had the application Cashed somewhere. I dont understand where it could be holding it. I have tried clearing my cookies and i still get the same view before my changes. I am deploying Updates via SCUP and SCCM to hundreds of Computers. Fortunately Adobe provides an SCCM Update Catalog for both Adobe Flash ActiveX and Adobe Flash Plugin. But now my Problem: After publishing the Update via SCCM, the client is not supposed to be interfered with the Update Progress (which is working) I figured the Updater works like this: First SCCM checks if a Update needs to be deployed, if this is the case, The Flash Updater begins. First the old Flash Version is beeing uninstalled. But now: if the Client has a Browser Window (IE, or Firefox) open, the Updater is not able to install the new Flash Version and quits with an Error. This leaves the Client PC without any Flash (because its being uninstalled before) How can I prevent Flash being uninstalled due to the Update progress not working while a Browser window is open?

We have an application that works no problems on our server with FMS in test mode. As soon as we enter our FMS license key we get this error: "application is not a valid signed application loading access denied".We removed the license key and it works again, but with user limits obviously, so this is not an acceptable fix.

In the simple example of Skype, the OS returns control to the Flex app when Skype exits. But what about native applications which have their own event model and wants to communicate with the Flex event model. For example, a Face detection system which shows "Hello" on a Flex app when the camera detects a face. Can this be done in the current Flex framework?

View 1 RepliesI have an AIR app that gets bundled with XML files that the app needs. These get put into the APP Storage Directory, of course. Works great. But when I install a new version ( which includes new XML files) , the new files don't get added or overwrite the ones from the previous version. It seems that if that directory is there from a previous install, the installer will ignore the part where it moves included files.

I have a native (Obj-C, standard Xcode project) application and I'd like to integrate a partners iOS application (or specifically, it's functionality) into it as just another view in my application. The problem is that their application is a Flex/Air app. I really don't understand the Adobe compilation process on how it gets from a bunch of flex code down to an IPA. I don't see intermediate projects, shared objects, etc on the disk to produce that IPA. It looks like it doesn't rely on the Apple tool chain... as I understand it, you can produce the IPA on Windows as well. Is there any way to build that Flex app in such a way that I can import it into Xcode so I can link against it and use it as a library from within my application? While I specifically used iOS as an example since that is the most important platform, we'll want to apply this solution to our respective Android and Blackberry 6 apps as well.
