Actionscript 3 :: Capture And Alter All Outgoing Requests From A Flex Application?
Feb 22, 2012
Currently in my flex application, I've got all of the app's assets being served from my local server, but I want to be able to serve all of the assets from a CDN (URL...)
the application has quite a bit of components so rather than going to each component and changing the source of the asset, is there a way to capture all of the outgoing request from my flex application and run some logic where I can change the request from [URL]...

I've written a little video game in Flex that runs in a browser. The player moves by pushing the arrow buttons on the keyboard, so I need to capture those keystrokes. In fact, the game action starts when the player presses one of those keys.In order to capture the keystrokes, the Flash/Flex application, not just the browser, needs to have the focus.How can I ensure that the application has the focus? I've implemented a bit of a hack: A "Begin" button you must click to start the game. The only point of this button is to ensure that the app has the focus.

I have a Flex/AIR desktop application that connects a local camera and microphone to a NetStream for delivery to a Flash media server.However, I would also like to archive a copy of the outgoing stream locally on the filesystem. Is there any access to the actual bytestream of a NetStream object (even in the dreaded mx.internal namespace) that I could turn around and feed to a FileStream for the local archive?

By far the weirdest thing I've ever seen. On some machines (!) IE (!!) attempts to load an SWF file via HEAD request instead of GET. This happens only when the page is running in Facebook IFRAME application - when running solo works fine. Naturally, on FF and Chrome everything works just fine. The SWF is embedded using jSWFObject. There's no visible common feature to the machines which experience this problem - laptops, desktops, XP, Vista, 7.

I am trying to capture enter key in my application. I can get the event firing, but when i try to access a variable outside the function it says it is undefined. Flash Player v8. Actionscript 2.
Here is main part of the code:
class Library.ClientListTS extends mx.core.UIComponent
{
//Declare variables for controls to be used
public var dgClientataGrid;
[Code]....
The Alert.show pops up a box with the contents specified. So when i run this code and press the "enter" key, i get the alert popup box , which shows that the event is triggering ok. But the variable "listLength" shows as undefined. I wanted it to show the value 4. The main essence of my questiion is how can I access a variable outside the listener event function.
I have tried various combinations of public and private settings as well as prefixing the variable with _parent.

how to capture the mouse in an air application. I know its possible because the flex scrollbar captures the mouse. I want to replicate the scrollbar's mouse capture.
Try this in a flex/air application window:
<s:Scroller height="500" width="300">
<s:VGroup>
<s:Rect width="100%" height="2000">
<s:fill>
[Code]...
If you press and hold the scrollbar handle and drag outside, even outside the window, the scrollbar still works. It wont lose focus. So it is capturing the mouse.
what I want:
Mouse and touch capture. (Even outside the window while still pressing down the button or touch point)

I have few queries on Flash Media Server:
My Requirements 1. First requirement is to broadcast a live event through a website. So I need to develop an application to capture the event using a cam (I don't want to use Media Encoder) and I need to create a player for the web site.2. Second requirement is, in a webpage need to display the same live streaming event, also need to display another 8 live videos (which capture the webcam of 8 different users). Basically can I do multiple streaming how can I handle
Questions:a. Can I use Flash Media Server to meet the above requirements?b. I have a dedicated server for FMS and I have webhost for hosting the website. Since FMS and the web hosting are different server, will FMS communicate with the hosting server?c. What is the minimum config for the hosting server? Is it better to go for some Unmetered Servers?

I am developing an AIR application with Flex Builder that requires me to make two HTTPService requests at the same time. They both use different instances of the HTTPService AS3 class. Both services are calling a RESTful API which is currently running on my localhost (XAMPP) and takes a few seconds to respond (much quicker on live server). The problem is that most of the time one of the calls fails, however occasionally they do both work. Its also random as to which call will fail. Both calls use code something like this. This code is basically repeated in two classes.

I have a Flex client that loads data from a server to display a chart. This data may change, so the client regularly repeats the request. Since the result may require some work to retrieve, I'm going to have the server detect if the result has changed, and issue a 304 status if it hasn't.I haven't seen any headers in the Flash Player's requests which would indicate that it's already handling conditional GETs. Also, the HTTPService API doesn't seem to provide anything, either. Does that mean, Flash can't do this, or how can I implement this myself?
With regards to cookies, which aren't supported in Flash, I have heard the suggestion to build my own HTTP client on top of the Socket class. This might solve this issue, too, but frankly, I'm really not keen on doing that.As an alternative, I could just cache the result page and send it again, but so far, the API tries to utilize semantics that are already built into HTTP, and I'd like to keep it that way.

Is it possible to make some kind of relay, to rebroadcast received stream to another host?
For example, if i have code like this
nsOut = new NetStream( outgoingNetConnection );
nsOut.client = {};
nsOut.addEventListener( NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, onNetStatus );
nsIn = new NetStream( incomingNetConnection );
nsIn.client = {};
nsIn.addEventListener( NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, onNetStatus );
How to connect this two streams to make direct transfer from nsIn to nsOut ?

I have a couple of remote object methods that I want to respond to in different ways depending on the context, but I'd rather not set up a bunch of different RemoteObject aliases.Some background: Let's say I have an admin application that displays sales stats in different ways. The remote method looks like:
<mx:RemoteObject id="rpt" destination="AMFServer">
<mx:method name="getSalesStats" fault="getSalesStatsFault(event)"
result = "getSalesStatsSuccess(event)" />[code]........
The getSalesStats method takes an employee ID and a sales type as its arguments. You'd call it like:
rpt.getSalesStats(120, "peanuts");
public function getSalesStatsSuccess(e:ResultEvent):void {
salesdata:ArrayCollection = e.result.rows as ArrayCollection;[code]......
I'd like to pass something through the remote method to the responding function, like:
rpt.getSalesStats(120, "peanuts", "clicked button one");
but that of course throws an error because the server doesn't want that last argument.

I'm using Mate's RemoteObjectInvoker to call methods in my FluorineFX based API. However, all requests seem to be sent to the server sequentiality. That is, if I dispatch a group of messages at the same time, the 2nd one isn't sent until the first returns. Is there anyway to change this behavior?

I am using Flex and Actionscript 3, along with Webservices, rpc and a callResponder. I want to be able to, for example, say:
loadData1(); // Loads webservice data 1
loadData2(); // Loads webservice data 2
loadData3(); // Loads webservice data 3
However, Actionscript 3 works with async events, so for every call you need to wait for the ResultEvent to trigger when it is done. So, I might want to do the next request every time an event is done. However, I am afraid that threading issues might arise, and some events might not happen at all. I don't think I'm doing a good job of explaining, so I will try to show some code:
private var service:Service1;
var cp:CallResponder = new CallResponder();
public function Webservice()[code]....
I could ofcourse save the actions in an arraylist, but whose to say that the addToArrayList and the check if other calls are available do not mess eachother up, or just miss each other, thereby halting execution? Is there something like a volatile Arraylist?

I think I inherited bad code, here's the deal: In my command, I create a local var for the remote object and then call a method on it. In the result, if there's no data, I start a timer. This timer broadcasts an event every 2 seconds that continually calls this command until data is returned. Then the timer is stopped.
What we're seeing is that the method returns data once, and then the next time it doesn't (dupe Flex sessions error). It basically alternates. If we click really fast, sometimes we'll get two to work in a row. At times, the Java dev is seeing these requests returned with different JSESSIONIDs. I believe this is causing the duplicate Flex sessions error. I'm using Cairngorm; here's the execute command.
public function execute(event:CairngormEvent):void
{
ruleName = (event as FetchReportEvent).ruleName;
var ro:RemoteObject = ServiceLocator.getInstance().getRemoteObject("quantRemoteObject");
if (model.guid != null)
[code]....

Here is an issue i'm struggling to solve for quit some time now.I have a python + GAE backend with a flex client that communicates via JSON. I'm using flex's HttpService bound to a Responder with result and fault callbacks. When python raises an exception, I don't seem to get it in flex. I did some research and found out that the problem probably lies in the fact that the flash runtime cannot handle http responses with status code other than 200.

I am using Flex and with the AS3 libraries.I can make calls etc but when i get values returned in the event,they are in RawResult. I am not sure how to turn that into an arraycollection etc so i can make use of it in flex, or if there is a better way of accessing the data, generally speaking.
var friendsDoc : XMLDocument = new XMLDocument(e.data.rawResult);
var decoder:SimpleXMLDecoder = new SimpleXMLDecoder(true);[code]....

In Flash/Flex, is it possible to capture the result of 'trace' in code?
So, for example, if one part of the code calls trace("foo"), I'd like to automatically capture the string "foo" and pass it to some other function.
Edit: I'm not interested in trying to use trace instead of a proper logging framework... I want to write a plugin for FlexUnit, so when a test fails it can say something like: "Test blah failed. Here is the output:
Edit 2: I only want to capture the results of trace. Or, in other words, even though my code uses a proper logging framework, I want to handle gracefully code that's still using trace for logging.

I receive my parameters as 1's or 0's to fill a datagrid full of checkboxes. The funny bit here is that the checkbox control recognizes them as booleans! But then my checkbox control has a change property in which these numbers are converted to "true" or "false".How can I convert this changes to ones and zeroes again to send them back to database?I believed the ByteArray function "writeAsBoolean" would work, but I forgot the rest of the values inside the datagrid are kept as numbers. So that function will not recognize them and my webservice will ignore them, failing to write the data.

I'm trying to develop a simple mxml Flex application to start Skype from the AIR/Flashplayer runtime. Is it possible to get back events from a native Windows application? In the simple example of Skype, the OS returns control to the Flex app when Skype exits. But what about native applications which have their own event model and wants to communicate with the Flex event model. For example, a Face detection system which shows "Hello" on a Flex app when the camera detects a face. Can this be done in the current Flex framework?
