Flex :: Duplicate Sessions Caused Multiple Requests With Different JSESSIONIDs?
Jul 7, 2011
I think I inherited bad code, here's the deal: In my command, I create a local var for the remote object and then call a method on it. In the result, if there's no data, I start a timer. This timer broadcasts an event every 2 seconds that continually calls this command until data is returned. Then the timer is stopped.
What we're seeing is that the method returns data once, and then the next time it doesn't (dupe Flex sessions error). It basically alternates. If we click really fast, sometimes we'll get two to work in a row. At times, the Java dev is seeing these requests returned with different JSESSIONIDs. I believe this is causing the duplicate Flex sessions error. I'm using Cairngorm; here's the execute command.
public function execute(event:CairngormEvent):void
{
ruleName = (event as FetchReportEvent).ruleName;
var ro:RemoteObject = ServiceLocator.getInstance().getRemoteObject("quantRemoteObject");
if (model.guid != null)
[code]....

I am developing an AIR application with Flex Builder that requires me to make two HTTPService requests at the same time. They both use different instances of the HTTPService AS3 class. Both services are calling a RESTful API which is currently running on my localhost (XAMPP) and takes a few seconds to respond (much quicker on live server). The problem is that most of the time one of the calls fails, however occasionally they do both work. Its also random as to which call will fail. Both calls use code something like this. This code is basically repeated in two classes.

I have a couple of remote object methods that I want to respond to in different ways depending on the context, but I'd rather not set up a bunch of different RemoteObject aliases.Some background: Let's say I have an admin application that displays sales stats in different ways. The remote method looks like:
<mx:RemoteObject id="rpt" destination="AMFServer">
<mx:method name="getSalesStats" fault="getSalesStatsFault(event)"
result = "getSalesStatsSuccess(event)" />[code]........
The getSalesStats method takes an employee ID and a sales type as its arguments. You'd call it like:
rpt.getSalesStats(120, "peanuts");
public function getSalesStatsSuccess(e:ResultEvent):void {
salesdata:ArrayCollection = e.result.rows as ArrayCollection;[code]......
I'd like to pass something through the remote method to the responding function, like:
rpt.getSalesStats(120, "peanuts", "clicked button one");
but that of course throws an error because the server doesn't want that last argument.

I am using Flex and Actionscript 3, along with Webservices, rpc and a callResponder. I want to be able to, for example, say:
loadData1(); // Loads webservice data 1
loadData2(); // Loads webservice data 2
loadData3(); // Loads webservice data 3
However, Actionscript 3 works with async events, so for every call you need to wait for the ResultEvent to trigger when it is done. So, I might want to do the next request every time an event is done. However, I am afraid that threading issues might arise, and some events might not happen at all. I don't think I'm doing a good job of explaining, so I will try to show some code:
private var service:Service1;
var cp:CallResponder = new CallResponder();
public function Webservice()[code]....
I could ofcourse save the actions in an arraylist, but whose to say that the addToArrayList and the check if other calls are available do not mess eachother up, or just miss each other, thereby halting execution? Is there something like a volatile Arraylist?

Any best way to handle multiple URL requests. This is what I have:
Code:
function dropCick(evt:MouseEvent):void {
if(evt.target == dropDownM.dropBtns_mc.menFoot_btn) {
var URL_6:URLRequest = new URLRequest();
URL_6.url="[URL]";
navigateToURL(URL_6,"_self");
[Code] .....
I would think there would be a better more efficient way to do this.

How do I limit my amf sessions to flex over pyamf?
I have set up a pyamf gateway to that serves value objects that originate from a django admin panel, through sqlalchemy to my authenticated flex client. It's working great, however there is a problem. My sessions are persisting and clogging up the server, so after about 20 or so AMF sessions are authenticated, it refuses any more until I restart the server.

Since the Flash Player (or, more exactly, the URLLoader class) will not let you read HTTP response headers or cookies set by the server, and if you get hold of a session cookie through some workaround like reaching out to the browser and run JS, you can't send it to the server, because, among others, the Cookie header will be blocked. Now I'm building a Flex client against an HTTP API for my server product. I control both sides, so I can get get around the above limitations, now I'm wondering how. I see the following options:
include the session token in the HTTP payload include the token in the URL build my own HTTP client (... with blackjack, and hookers ...) in AS, using the Socket class I don't like (1), because I'm reimplementing functionality in my protocol that is already built into Struts, which I'm using to implement the server side. I then have to ensure that either both behave the same way, or turn off the usual way of session management and force other clients to use my protocol where they could just have the browser deal with it. I don't like (2), because I understand that there are security concerns with this, although I'm not too sure which
I don't like (3), because it's 2010 and tons of HTTP clients have been written by smarter people than me. So, are there other opportunities? Which of my "don't like"s do you reckon least severe? Are there ways to mitigate the problems I listed? For example, how insecure are session tokens in URLs really?

I am thinking about porting my social netowrking site code to Adobe Flex / PHP and was wondering how does one go about handling sessions in this case. I would imagine Adobe Flex doesn't really know if a PHP session has been started or not therefore, I would have to research how to accomplish this. One idea I had was to created a session token string after a successful login and pass this token to each http request the user makes for data. E.g. [URL]. Each time a request is made to this page, a MySQL query is run to check if the token I passed in the url matches against the token created for that user during login. If this is true, then data is returned.

Working with a SWf where it's worked all along, loading data from url...But, now, if you switch from Flash Player 10 to Flash Player 10.1, I get the standard security sandbox violation:[code]The crossdomain.xml is still in place and if I downgrade to FP 10 (or earlier), it works as expected.

I'm currently trying to implement an automated bug reporter for a Flex application, and would like to return error messages to a server along with the function/line number that caused the error. Essentially, I'm trying to get the getStackTrace() information without going into debug mode, because most users of the app aren't likely to have the debug version of flash player.My current method is using the UncaughtErrorEvent handler to catch errors that occur within the app, but the error message only returns the type of error that has occurred, and not the location (which means it's useless). I have tried implementing getStackTrace() myself using a function name-grabber such as [code]
but that will only work because of arguments.callee, and so won't go through multiple levels of function calls (it would never get above my error event listener).Anyone have any ideas on how to get informative error messages through the global error event handler? There seems to be some misunderstanding. I'm explicitly avoiding getStackTrace() because it returns 'null' when not in debug mode.

As the title indicates the question is in regards to the service layer of a flex application. Specifically in a test case class. To call the services the user must first authenticate through an html/CF based page. Once that's done and the authentication has occurred the user is directed to the html page with the flex application embedded in. Once authenticated the server side CF code writes a cookie to the users computer. This cookie is then read by the flex app and is required for the flex app to make calls to the CF services.
The question is: how should this be handled in a test case class for the service class in the flex app? The following steps need to basically take place: use some account data to hit the server and authenticate, the cookie then needs to be written (which it will already), then the test case needs to pick up the session id from the cookie and pass it to the service call within the test case. That just all seems like too much for a test case class.
So, how is this type of thing usually handled. From what I gather it's typical for web service calls to require a session id like this.

I have a Flex client that loads data from a server to display a chart. This data may change, so the client regularly repeats the request. Since the result may require some work to retrieve, I'm going to have the server detect if the result has changed, and issue a 304 status if it hasn't.I haven't seen any headers in the Flash Player's requests which would indicate that it's already handling conditional GETs. Also, the HTTPService API doesn't seem to provide anything, either. Does that mean, Flash can't do this, or how can I implement this myself?
With regards to cookies, which aren't supported in Flash, I have heard the suggestion to build my own HTTP client on top of the Socket class. This might solve this issue, too, but frankly, I'm really not keen on doing that.As an alternative, I could just cache the result page and send it again, but so far, the API tries to utilize semantics that are already built into HTTP, and I'd like to keep it that way.

I'm using Mate's RemoteObjectInvoker to call methods in my FluorineFX based API. However, all requests seem to be sent to the server sequentiality. That is, if I dispatch a group of messages at the same time, the 2nd one isn't sent until the first returns. Is there anyway to change this behavior?

Currently in my flex application, I've got all of the app's assets being served from my local server, but I want to be able to serve all of the assets from a CDN (URL...)
the application has quite a bit of components so rather than going to each component and changing the source of the asset, is there a way to capture all of the outgoing request from my flex application and run some logic where I can change the request from [URL]...

Here is an issue i'm struggling to solve for quit some time now.I have a python + GAE backend with a flex client that communicates via JSON. I'm using flex's HttpService bound to a Responder with result and fault callbacks. When python raises an exception, I don't seem to get it in flex. I did some research and found out that the problem probably lies in the fact that the flash runtime cannot handle http responses with status code other than 200.

I have a Flash-file that loads external SWFs. There I use LoadVars to get external data from a server. When the data has arrived, I'm using setInterval to call a function that fades-in the content. But when I switch menus (a.k.a. unload one movie to load another) before all the data has arrived, Flash hangs for like 15 seconds and then shows me the infamous message script in this movie is slowing down Flash - would you like to abort it?(roughly translated). I attached an onUnload-function to the SWF that causes the major problems, where I use clearInterval to get rid of the interval and re-instantiate the LoadVars-Variable.

I am trying to make a frame arround an uploaded picture by repeating 1 image over and over again. The user will have to enter the real dimentions of the picture and the image will be scaled acordingly so that the frame will look as big as it should. The problem is that when I get a bigger pickture and I scale the images something goes wrong and there is some smearing in the movie clip. When I move it to X:0 and Y:0 all is well. When I move it to the center of the screen the smearing is there. Here's the code I use:

I want to add some common functionality to a number of display object classes: Sprite, MovieClip, TextField, TLFTextField, Bitmap, Loader, SimpleButton, and possibly more.I can easily extend any one of those and add my code, but I would need to duplicate the same code across a bunch of classes, ie SuperSprite, SuperMovieClip, SuperTextField, etc.
So the options I've thought of: 1. Use includes, so each class extends whatever and simply includes the class code. I haven't tried this so I'm not sure you can even use includes like that, and I'm not sure how it might affect (break) code hinting.
2. Create a new class that takes a target reference and essentially wraps functionality on to any eligible target instance. I'm not crazy about this because it means the instance I'm dealing with isn't the actual display object (ie its some wrapper that references the display object.)
3. Create a core class that takes a target display object and encapsulates all the functionality, then create separate classes each that extend the various display objects and contain an instance of that core class with itself as the target. I think I like this idea but am sure I would come back later and be confused with the structure.

I have a full page calendar that uses a duplicate movieclip to add the day squares (actionscript adds the day number)
I want to add a target to that "day" movieclip. (I can do this)
Now the part i don't know how to code:
I want to add a star at the top that can be dragged to the target "day". BUT... On any of the days and multiple days.
So i guess the star needs to duplicate movieclip and be able to drag and drop to any of the targets. The target is on a duplicate movieclip itself so the instance name will need to be the same on all days (or i could have it append 1,2.3 ect to the end of the instance name like: target_mc1, target_mc2...)
