Flash :: Script In Movie - Caused By LoadVars Or SetInterval?
Oct 24, 2010
I have a Flash-file that loads external SWFs. There I use LoadVars to get external data from a server. When the data has arrived, I'm using setInterval to call a function that fades-in the content. But when I switch menus (a.k.a. unload one movie to load another) before all the data has arrived, Flash hangs for like 15 seconds and then shows me the infamous message script in this movie is slowing down Flash - would you like to abort it?(roughly translated). I attached an onUnload-function to the SWF that causes the major problems, where I use clearInterval to get rid of the interval and re-instantiate the LoadVars-Variable.
Working with a SWf where it's worked all along, loading data from url...But, now, if you switch from Flash Player 10 to Flash Player 10.1, I get the standard security sandbox violation:[code]The crossdomain.xml is still in place and if I downgrade to FP 10 (or earlier), it works as expected.
I am having a problem with the anti-alias that is applied to my text.I am using a sans-serif narrow font and this problem appears based on the color that I set to the text.From 000000 to c8c8c8, the font is displayed properly. From c9c9c9 to ffffff, the font is displayed with what I think is a lot of anti-alias, so much that it looks like it is bold.I have tested a different font and this is not happening with other fonts.
One of the moderators, could you've a look at this tutorial: [URL] it doesn't works with me, maybe because I've 2004 so if you change loadVars() into LoadVars() it should work
I followed the tutorial about multi-dimensional arrays and attachmovie. I would like to create a similar one but I want to add setInterval so that the attached movies appear in an order with some time delay. Instead of the loop used in the tutorial I used setInterval and clearinterval. However, all the attached movie clips' _x and_y positions are the same and I can't send the information in the array to the attached movie clips. When I trace() the text boxes it returns undefined.
Ok, I have a simple duplicate movie clip for loop, but I want the duplication of the movie clip to be delayed by a setInterval. This is what I have so far:
Ok, I have a simple duplicate movie clip for loop, but I want the duplication of the movie clip to be delayed by a setInterval. This is what I have so far:[AS]myNumber = 10;
for (count=0; count<myNumber; count++) { myClip.duplicateMovieClip("myClip"+count, count); this["myClip"+count].clipText.text = count;
I think I inherited bad code, here's the deal: In my command, I create a local var for the remote object and then call a method on it. In the result, if there's no data, I start a timer. This timer broadcasts an event every 2 seconds that continually calls this command until data is returned. Then the timer is stopped.
What we're seeing is that the method returns data once, and then the next time it doesn't (dupe Flex sessions error). It basically alternates. If we click really fast, sometimes we'll get two to work in a row. At times, the Java dev is seeing these requests returned with different JSESSIONIDs. I believe this is causing the duplicate Flex sessions error. I'm using Cairngorm; here's the execute command.
public function execute(event:CairngormEvent):void { ruleName = (event as FetchReportEvent).ruleName; var ro:RemoteObject = ServiceLocator.getInstance().getRemoteObject("quantRemoteObject"); if (model.guid != null)
Could anyone please tell me how I can change the number of milliseconds at which a setInterval function repeats, whilst the movie is running? I am using setInterval to call a function which duplicates a movieclip and I need the duplication to happen over decreasing amounts of time. The problem seems to be that the setInterval function only needs to be set once, so declaring it again with a new interval value isn't an option.
This fades all my objects so on and so forth. I have a movie that is loaded into the _root, inside that is an mc called photos, jpgs are loaded into here and faded in. This photos being loaded in thing is based off some other code written by ... I can't remember I was looking to save time Anyway, thats like so.
I'm currently trying to implement an automated bug reporter for a Flex application, and would like to return error messages to a server along with the function/line number that caused the error. Essentially, I'm trying to get the getStackTrace() information without going into debug mode, because most users of the app aren't likely to have the debug version of flash player.My current method is using the UncaughtErrorEvent handler to catch errors that occur within the app, but the error message only returns the type of error that has occurred, and not the location (which means it's useless). I have tried implementing getStackTrace() myself using a function name-grabber such as [code]
but that will only work because of arguments.callee, and so won't go through multiple levels of function calls (it would never get above my error event listener).Anyone have any ideas on how to get informative error messages through the global error event handler? There seems to be some misunderstanding. I'm explicitly avoiding getStackTrace() because it returns 'null' when not in debug mode.
is there any way to know which method caused a certain event to be fired? For example, in NetConnection API, you can have: connection.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, netStatusHandler); netStatusHandler is called everytime a Flash Remoting call fails for some reason: how to know which one failed?
Novice in actionscript and have a problem loading an html file combined with a css stylesheet into a dynamic text field. I have 2 pages... 1st page always loads correctly but second page all you see the text fields is "undefined". When I view local machine all is well until I load onto server and for the first page of my site all is well but for the second page I receive "undefined" in the dynamic text field... This only happens the first time. When I click through the different pages('undefined', 'undefined', 'undefined'..) and return to the previous ones the text suddenly is displayed correctly! I have read elsewhere that I need to wait for the LoadVars onload command to finnish but I am at a loss to fix this...
Code:
var myVars:LoadVars = new LoadVars(); var styles = new TextField.StyleSheet(); var txt_url = "booking.htm";
I'm using loadVars to load a PHP URL with lots of sensitive information required for the Flash application.Only problem is that URL can be accessed via a web browser which raises security issues if someone gets a hold of this URL. Is it possible to have the PHP page only accessible via my Flash application?
I want to load headlines that are linked to URL(s) into my flash movie where the dynamic txt box(tickertxt) is here:_root.scroll.scrollbox. tickertxt.I am working along with my programmer and he built php page that says:num=1&url1=ticker.php%3Fid%3D1&headline1=Test.[code]
I looked at the tutorial section to see how to get loadVars to load in data from PHP.
PHP code: //do league queries $query_mteam = "SELECT name FROM test ORDER BY name ASC";[code]......
Now I added the extra line in bold as I need to be able to use the variable I have grabbed from my PHP file using the above code (the var is called rows) and I need to be able to use this figuree to do some simple math.. but I can't seem to get it to do anything apart from appear in text fields....I want to be able to do:
row=row+5;
for example. In fact, I want to use the value of row to generate a certain number of buttons dynamically. This eventually will be a menu based on values from a database (mySQL and PHP) but I am stumbling at the first hurdle.
I'm working on a project built in Flash AS2.One of the things I need to do is load JSON data. In the past, I've had no problem with this - LoadVars works just fine.However, on this project, the JSON service that I'm calling requires the http request to include an ACCEPT header with "application/json".
LoadVars has an addRequestHeader method that allows me to add or change HTTP request headers, but according to the documentation, those headers are only sent with POST actions.Of course, in my case, the JSON service only allows GET requests.I tried using addRequestHeader anyway, but the header is not sent.(Of course, I could rebuild the application using AS3, which allows me to use URLLoader and URLRequest, but the application has WAY to much legacy AS2 code...)
It loads external swfs in ONLY WHEN a HTML button, sitting outside my main.swf but ON index.html is clicked - posting it's variable/value to my swf?
So what I am saying is - Flash will not be functioned to do it's loadVars magic, I want Flash to be ready & waiting for a new variable to arrive at any given time - THEN action a function depending on the value of the variable.
I'm just not sure on the limitations of Flash - the program where I thought absolutely ANYTHING is possible.
I'm having an issue with some AS3 Loadvars. This works fine when running as preview (^+Ent), however after publishing this doesn't work. I'm very new (this is my first 'dip' into the flash world!).
How can I use setInterval in movieClip.prototype? This code increase num value just one time... MovieClip.prototype.testFunc = function(num) { var num = isNaN(num) ? 0 : num; trace(num); clearInterval(this.slideDelay); num++; this.slideDelay = setInterval(this.testFunc, 4000,num); }; var testMc = _root.createEmptyMovieClip("testMc", 1); testMc.testFunc(0);
I have a flash 9 app that calls a php script that in turn pulls in some variables from txt files. The function within the flash file that calls the php script operates via a setInterval() function. For some reason, this works fine in Firefox and Safari, but in IE the swf fails to update the fugures unless i clear the cache and reload the page..rather than the setInterval() function doing so every 60sec...
The problem is that it executes #Second before #First, which means that the object is not fullly loaded but the code continues nonetheless. Is there a way handle this? I have tried using a while loop, but this is ugly and makes flash crash. Is there any decent way to handle this, does it have to do with better code structure/program flow or is there a technical way to make it wait? Also note: This code is executed on the server side, which means there are no frames involved.
UPDATE:When projects get bigger, this gets very ugly, especially when you are retrieving mulitple things from a server, you have to use very deep nesting, you have to keep repeating the same code, example for buying a serial:
While setInterval is handy, it's kind of limiting. Every time I want to add a Tween I have to add a new method. I do not want to alter the structure of my code just to add in some delays. Isn't there any way to say this without making methods for A and B?
// do A // wait N seconds // do B
I don't want to use a while loop with Dates because I think it will be blocking.
For the life of me, I've tried everything: I've researched LoadVars on Adobe forum, used David Powers' books, googled 'flash to php', LoadVars, etc. and tried sendAndLoad, send, and using $_POST, $_GET, $_REQUEST. $HTTP_POSTVARS but I keep getting this same error.
I have a Unix server running Apache/PHP 4 - LoadVars worked to load name-value pairs into an array -see thread)
My goal with this simple app is to prototype being able to pass a variable from flash to a variable in php.
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_VARIABLE in flash_to_SQL.php on line 5
Actionscript 2.0 code:
var c :LoadVars = new LoadVars(); c.testing = "123FOUR"; c.send ("
I have a flash movie that I need to read in a value from a PHP script in order to set which frame it starts from, I am using the following code:
[Code]...
The problem is this is not working - it won't get into the load event. If I run the PHP manually I get "&pageID=29". If I debug this locally I get "Who: undefined" in the trace output window. From all the example I have read, I seem to be doing this correctly but it just doesn't seem to be working. Flash: CS5 using Actionscript 2.0
