i inherited a slideshow type of movie at work and there is one part of the movie that takes up 37 slides (all duplicates). i need to edit the text on them all. can i do this easily or do i have to go through and change them all manually?
View 1 RepliesI am having problems dupliating a movie clip. I can make a duplicate from an original but when I edit the duplicate it also modifies what is in the original. (I am just changing the text, thats the only difference between the 2) How come it effects both clips when I only change one?
View 6 RepliesI'm doing some masking with the brush tool. Each keyframe I'm drawing a bit more of the mask. My problem is if I go back to the first keyframe and paint something it doesn't appear on the other keyframes.I thought I found the solution with Edit Multiple Frames, but it doesn't seem to work with the brush tool.
View 1 RepliesWhen creating an animation with a classic tween sometimes I'd have to adjust all frames based on changing stage size and what have you. I'd usually park animations in mc's but even then I'd have to on occasion move the whole animation as whole, using the Edit Multiple Frames button on the Timeline. This is also needed when repurposing Flash ads for different sizes. Sometimes I have to adjust a few layers and leave some layers alone, again for Flash ads and alike.
When using a Motion or 3D tween I wanted to know if this was possible, not because I have a particular scenario but I wanted to see if I could do this in the event of needing to do so one day. I tried this feature and I was unable to move the whole animation as I would with a Classic Tween. The only thing I could do to achieve this was to park the Motion/3D tween into it's own mc and then drop that mc on the stage and move the mc as a whole. Is there any way to select all frames of the Motion Tween and move it as a whole without resorting to putting it in a mc (even though I get that it should always exist in a mc)?
Im working on a project which includes a text editor in Flash which works perfectly but im trying to alter the code so the editor works over several input boxes rather than just one. Using Flash CS4 btw. Here is the actionscript im working with. If someone could give me some pointers as to how to allow the code to edit text in multiple boxes i would be eternally grateful.

View 4 RepliesI'm trying to edit a .fla file. It's actually a flash game, a dating sim game to be specific. Now, the game has dialogues where you have to press a "next button" so that the next dialogue will appear, but I've noticed that all the dialogues are gone, they're not appearing at all. It's just a blank space. At the same time, the game has dynamic texts like money, energy and name of the player but likewise it's just an empty space. I've noticed that when I exported the game as swf. The text appears but it's distorted. For example the dialogue "Where am I" would appear as "a aa ii". I've also noticed that when I opened the .fla, it says that there are fonts missing.. I dont know if that has something to do with this..
View 3 RepliesI'm using an open-source Flash mp3 player. In comes in two swf versions. One plays a list of songs and displays the album cover(s). The other version just plays one song. The problem is that the single-song version loads some default text that I want to change (I was able to do this in the other version via the external playlist file). I'm a Flash newbie, and when I open the fla file the player's author provides, I can't find where this default text is located. (The playlist version works fine; its default text relates to what the user will get when they click on the file titles.)

I'm building a site that was bought from a template house that has a flash piece in the header. I have Win CS4 and have been able to swap out the images and replace the text but I am having a hard time finding where I can edit where/how the text aligns/ends up. Originally there was text of varying lengths that slides in below each image aligning right to the play/stop button. I tried to get them to give me text of a similar length but they just want the phone number. So now the phone number slides in but because the original text was longer (except for the one that had a ph#) they stop at different locations where the original 1st character came allowing to align right.
So my question is how/where do I edit this action? Would this be [in] the ActionScript? I am a complete noob and have only gotten to where I am through trial and error. I was able to find and replace the text in Essentials workspace and I was able to swap images (update) by right clicking them in the library view and I see a text export in there too that I have a high suspicion is what I need to edit but don't know how to access it.
i'm trying to edit the text of a Flash project/website. The flash project structure is as follows:
- Main.fla
-- Section1.fla
-- Section2.fla
-- Section3.fla
-- Section4.fla
The Section3.fla file contains the text I need to edit. I notice that the text is visible inside the library:
"/Sprites/sprite 11" file
and
"/Text/text" 10 file
But when I try to edit the text 10 file I get the message: "This symbol is imported from a Shared Library. If you edit this symbol, it will no longer be imported. Do you want to continue?".
If I click Yes and edit the text and replace the Section3.swf with the new one, the website still shows the old text.
I'm edit a flash file that uses about 11 different fonts. When I toss it into the editor and publish it some characters are missing from the product, such as W's and M's. I've installed the fonts that were included with the flash file into windows7.
View 4 RepliesI have a 15 frame composition, a new image on every frame. Each image is the same H x W size as the stage. I can click "Edit multiple frames", and I get the selector/slider thing above my timeline which sets which frames are to be included in the editing operation. I widen it to encompass all frames and then select all frames. But, when I attempt to center up all frames on my stage (Modify-->Align to stage) or set the x y to "0", "0", only one frame cooperates- the one on which the timeline marker is on. The other ones don't comply, even though they are all selected.
View 1 RepliesI created a rectangle and converted it to a button symbol. I double clicked it to get to the button timeline and added text and varied the rectangle colors for the different hit states. I ran the file and it's doing what I expected.
Now I want to duplicate that button several times where each one has different text on it. But when I change the text in one iof the duplicates, they all change, including the original.
What do I need to do to allow me to change the text? I can change other propertites without althering the other buttons but not the text.
I have 2 movie clips, one names mc_frame01 and another mc_frame02. I've tried to set variables and arguments to make it easier when theres more mc_frameXX's. All I want the animation to do is first MC slides in from the right, pauses, then slides off to the left. Then repeat for each MC. With the code below, both MC's seem to slide in from the right at the same time and that's it.

I'm having a problem with "Edit multiple frames", it happened when I mark the layers and click "Edit multiple frames" then (CS5) freeze!! I've tried it on both of my computers( XP and 7) same results!
View 2 RepliesWhile I'm just a beginner right now it/I'm an experienced computer user and I have really enjoyed/but when I'm looking at it now I'm trying to use flash to edit a website template, for example monster templates. I bought a template from the site and nine trying to edit it now and well it just seems like it's a very very long process to do something kind of where I just want to look at the page and I want to edit the text and only I go to bed doesn't seem to be the case. So I'll show you what I mean.
When I'm using the program and I'm in Adobe flash I'm looking now at the screen inside the program and there's no text I see the graphics images and there's no text and also is that some type of way where it's easy to navigate link to link where I can just edit the text what supposed to be in there rather than search for the funeral push page up and down until I come across just a white background with tax and then have to edited which is pretty confusing because I don't know where that's located but I the general idea that if you change it but surely there must be an easier way.
So basically I'm including a screenshot that shows you exactly what I'm talking about. Basically once again I'm in fashion items Sandy text so it's kinda hard to see what was going on or whatever so you can see the snow text located in the thing but however when I publish the file yeah you can see the text and everything I'm kinda looking for some type of you well be able to see this and just edited really. I know there are other programs out there like SWF edited her or quick note to some like that. But I really wanted to use flash, unexperienced Photoshop user and I really love all Adobe products and I really think that this is the master program to use however I'm really don't want it as of right now it's been about 40 days and nine still a bit lost navigating through the program will I'm just really just China entities tax bills and just go through the site. Now I realize I should have the respect for beautiful program like this and it's not been a be set up to the way that I'm hoping it Siskind be a point-and-click editor I understand that. I'm just wondering if anybody has any type suggestions or perhaps of I'm missing something which is fantastic.
When I click on a field to edit, the | symbol that allows you to type new text (for example, a timeline folder's name) disappears as quickly as it appears, therefore no way to edit anything.

I'm having trouble how to add PDF files into a slides: I want insert a whole pdf file as separate slide, without splitting pdf file into separate elements: pictures, text, etc. I tried import pdf file into Flash, wheen import there is shown prompt how program should process this pdf file(add in stage, library, as keyframes, etc) , not clear which option is correct for my task. What I got is pdf file splitted into multiple images, text, - which is not what I want. I want keep PDF files without changes, preserve original design and formatting, just convert this pdf into flash, so presentation will consist of PDFs organized in correct order, then add navigation buttons and some effects. How to solve this task?

View 2 RepliesI used to have a little text panel (that sat with the color, swatches, and align panels) that I was able to open up and edit text size, color, underline, etc with. It had a much better text editing ability then the properties panel, seeing as the properties panel does not even bother to allow me to underline text or to highlight and edit a single word in a whole text box. Now I don't have it, I can't find the damn thing anywhere, and I want it back. How can I get it?

On the actions layer there's a stop "stop();" before each new layer starts. But it doesn't work. I tried to paste the code in any order but still nothing. I works on a sample fla file I got.
I am making a small banner that is populated with text, and slides across the stage. There are 3 attributes in the xml:
One for the message to be displayed
One for the link and one for the target (window).
All works very well...except for one thing. In AS2 I was able to replace a link if I needed,
with a asFunction in order to trigger a function in the main timeline. This bit isn't working. So asFunction was replaced with a text event, tho this won't work for me here, I think...

I have some dynamic text I want to change the attributes of. For instance, I would like the first few words of each paragraph to be BOLD and to be a different color. But when I select those words and change it to bold it makes ALL the text in the text box change to BOLD.
View 5 RepliesI'm using CS4, and I'm attempting to align animations in flash. To make it easy, lets say I have two animations which start in a standing position, facing east. One of these animations (in a movie clip) is on fame 2 and the other is frame 11. The only way I can find to do it - without flicking between frame 2 and 11 constantly - is onion skin. The problem is that when i turn it on, it shows every frame - I can change the start to frame two, but the end will not go back past whichever frame I have selected - 11 in this case, and so it it too messy by far to see what I'm doing. Is there a way to allow me to see only frame 2 in that ghost style, while I edit frame 11? Even if its not onion skin, it doesn't matter.
Second to this - I cannot seem to work out how to edit multiple frames. By that, I mean that frame 11 through to 19 need to be aligned by the same amount, and yet even when I select all those frames, only one is affected.
I have 30-40 movie clips that I want to reshape. They are all identical except for color and name. Is there a batch way to duplicate the entire library but change the shape without going into each one?
