I am trying to figure out how to create a flash slideshow including buttons that interact with the slides. A perfect example of what I am trying to create is the flash slideshow on the Frito Lay's website[url]....I am sure there is some action code for the button that can do this, but being to to Flash code.

first off, i'm pretty new with actionscript so the answer to this question may be obvious. however, i cannot for the life of me figure out what i'm doing wrong or how to fix it. so, i went through the tutorial for the auto slideshow with xml [URL] everything is working great for the auto slideshow; however, my issue is with the "previous" and "next" buttons. the "previous" seems to work in that it will back up to the previous slide, no problem, but if my slides are times for 3 seconds each and i hit previous at 2.5 seconds into the current slide, i only have .5 seconds to view the previous slide and not the full 3 seconds.
OK next issue is with the "next" button -- i have 4 slides/photos it works fine from slide 1 to slide 2, but if i hit next to go from 2 to 3 the slideshow starts an endless loop from 1 to 3 to 1 to 3 to 1 and it never jumps out of that loop. the same thing happens from 3 to 4 -- the loop is 2 to 4 to 2 to 4 to 2. again, it doesn't break the loop and go back into the regular sequence. here's the actionscript as it appears in my flash file:

So for instance I will have slide 1 (graphic) - slide 2 (video clip) - slide 3 (text). I have used CS4 before for one of my classes but that was a little while ago, and I feel like I'm starting over again. View 5 RepliesI'm new to Flash and I need to learn how to do a slideshow with exactly the same features as can be found in this link: [URL]. Just like at the link above, it needs to play through the slides automatically once the page is loaded, each slide needs to link to a specific URL, and I need controls similar to the boxes at the bottom so the viewer can click on any specific slide they wish to view (I'd like to have numbers in the boxes though). The transitions don't have to slide across like this. If a fade is easier, that would be fine.
Actually, I thought I'd be able to do this fairly easily with Flash Catalyst, so I updated to Adobe CS5 Design Premium. I found that Flash Catalyst can be used to create a slide show like this, but unfortunately it won't play automatically when the page loads and the viewer has to manually click through the slides, which is not what I need. I could be wrong, but from what I've read, I need Flash Builder to add code so the slide show will play automatically if I create it in Flash Catalyst.

1. Let's say I have an icon of a person in my flash file, how can I make it so that when my moves rolls over the person a thinking bubble appears and when it rolls off the bubble disappears?
2. If I have a small image of a page version of a .pdf file in my flash file, how can I make it so that when the little .pdf page icon is click the .pdf file is launched?
3. I understand how to create a square button over text and mess with its up/down/over/click settings, but I am wondering how I can do something like change the color of the text when it is clicked or when the mouse is over it? Right now I only know how to change the color of the square button.
I am trying to create a slide show using actionscript that changes the images automatically. I have the script for a slide show that has buttons to let the user change the slides. It gets the images from a specified folder (which I want it to do- they are all named 1.jpeg, 2.jpeg...etc which makes it easy to update them) and loads it into an image holder named (imageHolder). There is a function called nextImage which loads the next picture, but at the moment is controlled by the buttons. I'm not sure how to get it to change images automatically using actionscript.

By pushing I mean having an image come in from the left (or right) and place itself on top of the other (or pushing the other out of view). Like a slide show of three images scrolling along but one stops for a brief period before the other image comes into view.

I want to include the image files within the .fla but I'm trying to find a way to make it scroll through 3 images included in the file with a fade in/fade out effect. But I don't want to make it so I have to tween the images (alpha) to fade them in and out. & I want it to loop.
View 3 RepliesThis doesn't happen very often but if you go to [URL] and click through the slides you'll notice on occasion, a slide will stick on screen and not slide out. And then the other slides slide under the stuck slide. Obviously, this is not acceptable at all. I tried to upload the .fla but FK keeps giving me a Upload failed error. So I'll just have to include the code below. Hopefully, someone can explain to me why this is happening. Is it possible it's because people are clicking too fast and it's a Flash tweening bug?

I'm making a presentation and want to make the text of the slides appear on command.This is what I wrote on the actions layer.
1.) First frame

On the actions layer there's a stop "stop();" before each new layer starts. But it doesn't work. I tried to paste the code in any order but still nothing. I works on a sample fla file I got.
the 3 externally loaded SWFs rotate with fade in/outf effect on their own as well as per button click. What I would like to add to it is having the the buttons change appearance (Tint or anything) - just to show which slide the user is currently seeing. here's my code:

I currently have a slideshow working with prev and next buttons, but would like to add numbered buttons for each slide at bottom of images, with a static number for the active slide that has a colored circle around that number.
I can create static number with colored circle in Photoshop and add that to a layer, but it's labor intensive to do that for all numbers.
Is there a better way to create the highlighted numbers for active slide?
For numbered buttons that link to non-active slides, I can create numbers in Photoshop and import images into Flash, then convert to symbols and assign actions for them, But that too is labor intensive to do for all the numbers.

I'd also like to have a hover function on the numbered buttons, that changes from plain image of number to number with colored circle like I want to use for active slide.

I have just recently returned to flash after a very looooooooong time! I moved out of the flash world a few years ago and have been working in design for print. A friend has asked me to help create a flash slideshow for them. I know how to do this using older versions of flash but there seems to be a quicker way in CS3.I have selected from the opening menu, Flash Slide Presentation.I have created my slideshow and added transitions.Everything looks great however I can only progress the slideshow using the arrow keys.My question is...Using this slideshow setting can I set my slideshow to loop through the slides automatically instead of progress with the arrow keys?

I'm having trouble how to add PDF files into a slides: I want insert a whole pdf file as separate slide, without splitting pdf file into separate elements: pictures, text, etc. I tried import pdf file into Flash, wheen import there is shown prompt how program should process this pdf file(add in stage, library, as keyframes, etc) , not clear which option is correct for my task. What I got is pdf file splitted into multiple images, text, - which is not what I want. I have 2 movie clips, one names mc_frame01 and another mc_frame02. I've tried to set variables and arguments to make it easier when theres more mc_frameXX's. All I want the animation to do is first MC slides in from the right, pauses, then slides off to the left. Then repeat for each MC. With the code below, both MC's seem to slide in from the right at the same time and that's it.

I'm currently having a little trouble in a project where I have the following occuring:

preloader.swf --- loads 2x --- homepage.swf --- can load --- products.swf
When the products.swf is loaded, the starting animation occurs as expected and is displayed on the screen without an issue. However, I can't interact with any of the buttons contained in the products.swf. The products page works like an overlay over the top, and the homepage.swf contains an background which can be clicked on to close the overlay. If you click on the products.swf it reacts as if the background was clicked, which it shouldnt as the products.swf is located on top of the background.
I have already checked the obvious parts, and am ensuring that products.swf is located at numChildren-1, so nothing is getting in the way. The catch is that everything was working fine when the code was internal to the fla, and now as soon as I moved the code to an external .as file nothing works. I am using the same way of loading the products.swf as I am loading the homepage.swf, which looks like:
