View 2 Repliesis there a way to forcibly close the browse dialog box that is opened by my_filereference.browse() ?
filereference.cancel() does not close the box.
how to load an image to flash using browse dialog box .
[Code].....
I am using the following simple code:[code]A big flash button triggers this code, which works perfectly fine. Unfortunately, I don't enforce that the button cannot be clicked while the dialog box to browse file is opened, so I get "Error: Error #2041: Only one file browsing session may be performed at a time." if I click on the button while the pop up dialog box is up.A solution that I really like is the one that Google Docs has. It does not let you click on their button, above "Select files to upload" while the pop up dialog box is showed. Actually, this dialog box has a sort of priority: You can't click ANYWHERE on the page before you select files or cancel on this dialog box.I would like to have the same behavior, not let the users click anywhere in my web page until this dialog box is done, just like Google Docs does it, but I can't seem to find how.
View 1 RepliesHow can I open a browse dialog for user to select a file ;after selecting file, the address to be passed into a variable for later use?I mean I want btn1 to open a browse dialog and var1 to get the address of the selected file on my local drive.
View 6 RepliesI know very little about Flash so I apologize in advance for asking what is possibly a dumb question, although I did a fair bit of research before posting. Our current Flash app, written in AS3.0, is able to display a standard OS browse dialog for the purpose of allowing a user to select files. We are using [URL] to display this dialog.
The documentation for FileReferenceList states that only files could be selected. The new requirement is to allow the user to select directories as well as files. Afterward it would be very nice, but not required, to be able to get a recursive list of all the files in the selected directory. Is it possible to implement this in Flash running inside a browser? The closest I've seen so far is [URL] which does what I want but it only seems to work inside Adobe AIR and is not exposed to the browser.
We have noticed a possible bug in the Flash Player within Mac's latest OS version Snow Leopard.
When a Browse for file dialog is initiated, upon returning to the browser. It's as if there is a layer above the flash app which stops interaction with the mouse. MouseOver events no longer take place and a click is require to remove this layer. If you move your mouse at all after the click this invisible layer returns limiting interaction.
We have tested this with 2 macs running snow leopard and the latest Flash Player. And also verified it is not an issue on Mac OSX previous to Snow Leopard.
It seems to effect only FF and Safari. Opera functions correctly.. Here is a video we created documenting the problem: [URL]
We have not had any customers complain about this yet. But if it's infact a bug, it's just a matter of time.
I'm using the Flex3 File.browseForOpen() method. Is there a way to specify a initial path that the file browser starts in?
View 1 RepliesI manage to get fileRef.browse working locally to load some picture but it only works for pictures in same folder/directory as the .swf.

View 2 RepliesI am creating a Adobe Air Application. I have a menu and and I need to create a toolbar which has icons to represent some actions.
View 2 Repliesi am working with Flex for quite sometime. but i hadn't get any chance to even look at Adobe AIR platform. I am planning to do some personal softwares using AIR.
Provided the background that am an absolute zero in AIR, what all should I have in my system apart from Flex builder? And how fast i can learn AIR if I am pretty comfortable in Flex?
if I can create a SWF in Flex WITHOUT using Flash Builder ?
View 4 RepliesI'm having trouble creating an XML file from Air. It always seems to have some extra character in front of the first block in the xml file like this "¥". This application can read back out of the document, but if i open it with a text editor to make a change and save it, it will no longer open in my application. When I create this XML file, the whole reason I want to use an XML is so that I can possibly edit it on another computer, or in a text editor, and send it back.
Right now I'm creating the XML like this:
var myXML:XML = <motor>
<type>{motor.type}</type>
<shopLocation>{motor.shopLocation}</shopLocation>
<customer>{motor.customer}</customer>
<tech>{motor.tech}</tech>

I'm working on a project in Actionscript 3.0 in Flash Pro. I want to create a confirmation box. If I were using the Flex SDK I could do this using the Alert class in the mx.controls package. However it seems that no similar control exists in the standard Flash library, and any amount of googling just leads me to Flex references.

View 4 RepliesIs it possible to create create a video capture / screencast using Adobe Flex?
I would like to record any part of the users desktop (the web browser, the OS desktop, etc.) at a reasonable frame rate, record from the microphone, and then create a video file.
I would prefer doing this via Flex rather than using Java (Ex: Screencast-o-matic) or using a Windows App (Ex: Camtasia Recorder)
I need to create and read a user preferences XML file with Adobe Air. It will contain around 30 nodes.

Currently, all I have found is an option to choose the location of the application shortcut from within the start menu (in the application descriptor file, using the programMenuFolder option)
I am trying to develop an android extension for air, but I have a problem with resources.According to this : Official adobe doc - FREContext and this Extending AIR by Oliver Goldman We simply have to add the resources we need in the res file of the Native part, then they are added inside the .ane file and passed to the final apk. In order to access them though we have to use getResourceId( "drawable.background_image" ) instead of R.drawable.background_image
But when I generate my extension, the res file is actually not even included anywhere inside the .ane file and also not inside the final apk. And I have found not a single extension on the net using resources (not even in the adobe samples)For this test I simply use the basic Hello world Vibrate test, but I added a new png in the drawable folder. As you can see while unziping the .ane file, then going to META-INF/ANE/Android-ARM the res file is absent. As a result, the program crashes when I try to access my resource FREContext.getResourceId("drawable.ppy_accessory_manage.png")
PS, here is my batch to compile the ANE :
set adt_directory=C:Program FilesAdobeAdobe Flash Builder 4.6sdks4.6.0in
set root_directory=C:UsershugoAdobe Flash Builder 4.6
set library_directory=%root_directory%HelloANELibrary

I have seen a few blog entries on this and have had a discussion or two with my team mates but I would like to see what the stack overflow community thinks.
So why does the Adobe Alchemy Tool create so much faster running flash byte code than the flex compiler?
Also, when will the flex compiler be able to make similar performance gains? Will it require programmer specific use of special Array's or something of that nature to get the same performance?
I have a requirement to select a file from fileReference.browse(), but I want to browse a file to specific location say D:Dirfile instead of the OS specific (The dialog box is native to the user's operating system).
