Actionscript 3 :: Create A Touchscreen Restaurant Ordering System?
Oct 15, 2011
What I need to create a touchscreen restaurant ordering system?
I've got the touch UI understood and implemented 100%.
What I can't figure out is how to implement the "Send order to kitchen" and "Call waiter" functions.
Each table will have a "client" computer running an air app. Calling the "Send order to kitchen" and "Call waiter" functions from the "client" computer should make the "client" communicate with a different "kitchen" computer over wifi.
I am trying to change the name shown in flash on this website, but it is in bitmap form. It came with a psd file that I was able to edit, but it makes no changes to the site when uploaded. the site can be viewed at [URL]It came with four folders: flash, fonts, psd, html, the psd contains a single psd file that i can edit. But when uploading that file, it does not effect the site at all. [URL]How can I edit the name grill house restaurant?
I implemented a bitmap overlay (just what I call it) using this code:
stage.align = StageAlign.TOP_LEFT; stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE; var bmpd:BitmapData = new BitmapData(2, 2, true, 0); bmpd.setPixel32(0, 1, 0xff000000); bmpd.setPixel32(1, 0, 0xff000000);
[code]....
This, as you can see if you place it in a keyframe and test a movie, produces a pixel effect that spans the stage width and height. I have an image underneath this (in a movieclip) which is fine. But I also have a piece of text (also in a movieclip), which is hard to read with the overlay over it. I need a way to order the movieclip with the text placed in it over the top of the bitmap overlay shown above via AS3 I should imagine.
If I have added Event.ENTER_FRAME listeners to different components, how can I set or know the ordering of when these events will be fired on each enterFrame?Instead of adding enterFrame listeners to individual elements, is it better practice to have one element which listens for enterFrame events, and has an array of elements needing updating on enterFrames, thereby making it easy to organize and change the firing order of these events?
I have a flash app generating xml and it seems to just put the attributes for tags in a fairly random order. The problem is that I need them to be in a specific order because of circumstances outside my control. Is there a way to do this while still using the XML object and/or E4X? Or even XMLNode or XMLDocument? I'd really rather not have to resort to working with Strings.
I have developed a restaurant menu app for samsung galaxy tab 8.9 .I want to send all ordered details to micros pos eg item name,table name qty ordered , item price to pos .I have deeveloped this application using flash builder 4.6 ie used flex 4.6 and actionscript as technologies .So how do i integrate my application with micros pos to send all data ordered to it with micros pos??
I'm looking for a software package that implements a drag and drop plan of a restaurant's floor plan. Any technology silverlight/html5/flash is acceptable.
Perhaps there is even a tutorial on how to develop a simple example of this.
Essentially I need different shaped tables which can be selected from a shapes panel that can then be dragged onto the canvas and moved around to match the current floor plan of a restaurant.
I often populate my datagrids with a recordset, an array of record objects, by passing the recordset in the dataprovider constructor. However, this results in unpredictable column ordering i.e. it doesn't correspond to the order of the fields in the record object. I know you can define the columns and then use add item to add the records to resolve this, but I'm curious why the datagrid doesn't order the columns according to the record object field order in the first place and why the order can actually change between renderings of the datagrid?
I was wondering if it could be possible to create a databinding system in pure actionscript without using mx.binding.utils At least I would like to know what is the overhead of the databinding code and how exactly the ChangeWatcher knows when a property has been changed.
I need to create a rather detailed menu system that will load thumbnails of movie clips that I can then double-click on and it will load them into the display list of another movie clip.
I think I can code the loading part but I've never dealt with creating flash menus before and don't have any help in the 5 as3 books I own.
Is there a way I can make the menu generate the thumbs from an external file that I can just update when I need to instead of editing the flash file?
I am creating this website using good old AS2... although i am planning to move to AS3 quite soon...i JUST CANT come to an idea on how to Logoff or Logout the user from the site if he or she closes the browser or is inactive for 15 min.
i am trying to create a particle system for a game i am creating in class, though it seems that the particles are not being added to the stage. my instructor and i have checked all the obvious things and now were stumped?
particle class:
Code: package { import flash.display.MovieClip; public class Particle extends MovieClip { var xspeed:Number;
[code]....
the particle movie clip is simply a 5x5 rectangle, with the class name redParticle and the base class is Particle. [URL]
it worked as I wished - by placing the swf under all other elements on the timeline via the addChildAt being 0. I now need to add another external .swf (over the top of the one I just brought in) and was expecting by using:
[Code]...
it would place it above the other .swf but in fact, it places it under one element of it. should this be the case of is there a different way to do what I wish to?
I need to create an image gallery that the clients can log in and click on photos to add them to favorites. I was wondering how to create this favorite system or if there are any galleries with it?
I'd like to know if someone of you guys has any experience in using Flash (and AS 3.0) to create user interface for Crestron system. I'm experiencing few problems with the management of feedback join
I am trying to create a standard production of visual basic system, on Flash CS5. It's an interactive system made in Flash, but the house style is as of Visual Basic. I have almost completed the project however I am finding it difficult to:-
a) If the user types into textboxes in one stage on flash, it should appear down on another screen on another textbox, simultaneously.
b) How to validate textboxes in flash so that the user can only type in certain characters, for example the user would fill in the textboxes when asked about coding in visual basic. At the end of the screen by clicking next it would check the textboxes and if the characters are incorrect it would display an error message, and if correct proceed to the next screen.
This coding is the closes't i got to solving my problem about validation, I have also read a number of ActionScript books but no luck there. I have also searched the net but could not find what i am looking for, all i got was validating using passwords from parameters.
I'm trying to load an AS2 swf into an AS3 and pass it a flashVar, here is my code:
ActionScript Code: var myLoader:Loader = new Loader() var _request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("loader.swf"); var context:LoaderContext = new LoaderContext();
[Code].....
But I get the error which is the title of the thread. I found two different pages from adobe on the LoaderContext class, one lists paramaters as a public property and one does not, I can't for the life of me tho figure out what's the difference or how I can use the class which allows me to use paramaters.
The function would duplicate the mcClipToShadow MovieClip to use as the base shadow, apply a 100% black tint, set the alpha to nAlpha, and apply a blur filter with Blur X = Blur Y = nBlur. Then a transformation Matrix would be applied that would skew the shadow sprite so that it was cast in the nAngle direction with length nDistance.
The only part that I'm having trouble with is solving the math for the Matrix. I've played a lot with the swf's in your tutorial to better understand how the matrix manipulates things, but I'm still having troubles doing the math properly. My goal is to simply plugin the variables from the constructor into the Matrix constructor and the proper shadow will result.
We have created an interactive Touchscreen using flash CS4 - [URL]
The Touchscreen is already in the showroom. Every morning it is restarted. By midday the whole application slows down to the point were it becomes very slow. I presume this is a caching problem. In order to resolve this we close down IE and restart it (playing the SWF file through Internet Explore on full screen mode). Once it has restarted it plays at the correct speed.
I have thought about setting up windows 7 to reboot IE and have the flash file restart every few hours however a client may be navigating through the display when it reboots it self. I would prefer to avoid this if possible.
I'm in the process of learning OOP and have run into a small problem. I'm trying to create a basic menu system where you can rollover and rollout of all links. When you select a link, it stays highlighted until you click another link.I've given the 5 links instance names like (link0, link1, link2, link3, link4) and given them each an ID of (0,1,2,3,4) - respectively. I used to be able to do something like this:
I looking into developing an AIR application for carPC's.These pc's all have touchscreens, but usually not multitouch. Also Windows 7 will reconize them as a mouse, not as a touchscreen. Now I know AS 3 supports gestures
I need to know all methods to exit from a fullscreen mode of a flash application on a touchscreen (because i want that people exit with my custom button).
I know that with a traditional desktop, ESC of the keyboard and double click with left button of the mouse allow to exit from fullscreen (like youtube).
There is a known problem with swf's with nested mc's embedded in a director projector when used on a touchscreen (with dragmode enabled). Basically, the problem is that flash requires a mouseRollOver event to give the focus to the mc, before it registers an onPress. With a touchscreen, where the cursor is disabled, the first click and release on the swf (or nested mc's) reads as an onRollOver event, and the user must click again to register an onPress and onRelease. This leads to very confusing behaviours in my application where I have dots (embedded mc's) being created when an image is touched, then the dots can be clicked and dragged, or double tapped to be removed.
All works fine when the mouse and cursor is used, but I can't get it to work using a single tap on the touchscreen. In some cases I can get away with using onRollOver but when used with startDrag I can't think of a way of stopping the drag when the user lifts their finger. (which doesn't register as an event). What I need is an AS2 script that forces a click event (onPress) when the user taps the button once. Unfortunately I only know AS2 so can't use mouseEvents from AS3.
i have created a program in flash to run on several touchscreen kiosks here in my city. its a simple flash presentation and uses basic actionscript 2.0 for navigation etc. and its all working fine. now, the organizers want me to create a hit counter that can track how many people are using the kisosk services. so basically, each time someone hits the home button, a "hit" should be generated.
now i know of some scripts that use flash and PHP that can do that, but unfortunately i dont know how i can use it. The program that runs on the kisosks is just a flash file rendered as an exe and installed on the machines. i know basic PHP but as far as i am aware of, u need to run PHP through some HTML pages to be able to use it. besides, you would also need a php server to be able to get the hit counter working.
so my question is, is there a way to have the hits generated and stored in some kind of file (text, or xml or anything)? it has to be generated from within the swf file and stored to the (text, XML?) file.
I am working on a touch screen project right now. There is a chance that the touchscreen will never be turned off, so I have to be very aware of the memory issue with the pc. I don't want the memory to keep building up and eventually it just freezes up the pc. Basically, I have separated each section into a separate swf. The idea is to load only the swf that is needed in order to optimize memory usage. I tested the app on a pc, when looking at the "processes" in the window task manager, it seems the memory used will just keep increasing as I navigate through the application, it seems to me it just keeps piling up external swfs in the application, but sometimes the memory will just suddenly decrease. And when the touchscreen application is idle, the memory will drop too.
The following code is what I used to load and unload the external swf. Did I do it right? Is there anything that may have left unnoticed that is still staying in the memory? Is there any other way to optimize the memory usage too? ActionScript Code: var prevLevel:* = this.parent; var currentPage:MovieClip; var oldPage:MovieClip; var bgID:String; [Code] .....
I got a textfile who i am reading on a serverside script and passing it as a script to my client side as3 code. The problem is that i am using characters like ä,ö,ü,ß and this isn't well displayed. I tried System.useCodePage but the compiler complains about : 1120: Access of undefined property 'System'. It doesnt matter if I tried this on the first line of the 'Action' in the first scene or in the first line of the first .as file i am loading. (btw i am only working with .as file and not in the timeline). When i am importing flash.System.* the compiler complains he dont know useCodePage.
