I use a Flash movie to store a Local Shared Object (because for some reason I need LSO's instead or regular PHP cookies). Now, when I load up a PHP file I want to somehow retrieve the data from the LSO at runtime, assign it to some variables, and use the variables through the rest of the script.
I'm basically interacting with a third party API flash file to send HTTP POST requests to my server. know I'm on somewhat the right path because it requires a crossdomain.xml file, and before I added that part nothing in the POST variables was showing up, however since I added that file there are 4 variables that are set, these POST variables are sent by the application to give me basic information about the file.. but I actually need to read the RAW POST data to actually save the image being sent by the Flash.I'm aware there are 3 ways...$GLOBALS['HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA'] $HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA which is probably the same as the firstfile_get_contents('php://input')For whatever reason, neither of these "work". By "work" I mean they're not being set, when I var dump them I get nothing.
Could it be that there's a setting in php.ini that I need to set, or perhaps the Flash application is truly not sending the actual image? I think it's doing the right thing, because it's a semi popular API and it's used by a couple other sites so I'm pretty sure it's right on their end.
I want to post data to a URL on my server from a Flex app. I am using the following

The problem I am having however is that if I enter a business with an ampersand ("A&b.com") then the name does not send. Does Flex have anything out of the box to do the encoding from & to %26?
I'm trying to write a flash program that will import JPEG's and embed them into an XML string for storage. However, i'm having some trouble with casting them back into Bitmap objects, after encoding and decoding the strings in Base64.
I've used the external Base64 encoding class created by Steve Webster, which seems to work great in encoding and decoding the files, but i'm clearly doing something wrong in my code. I'm not sure how exactly I should be converting the decoded bytecode back into an image object, and get flash to display it. Should it be a bitmapData? do I have to code it via setting the pixels manually? Or can I simply just cast it as a Bitmap object?
here's a snippet of my code to show what I mean - At the moment this will return an error. Other things i've tried seem to return the object as a memory reference, rather than it's actual data.

I'm trying to reproduce a POST request that was captured from WireShark using PHP. This POST request was sent by a Flash (.swf) object, so it's a little bit complicated in configuring the header.It does not print out anything in the end, so there must be something wrong with PHP code that I could not see.Here is what WireShark captured:

I'm working on a Flash AS2 application that needs to post JSON data to a web service.In previous projects, I've used LoadVars.send() or LoadVars.sendAndLoad() successfully to manage this:

In somepage.php, I can grab that JSON data using $_POST['data'].However, on this project, the developer of the web service requires the JSON content to be the BODY of the request (i.e., not a name/value pair). Is this possible with LoadVars?
I'm loading a Flex 4.5 module (it's a SWF file) using a PHP code like this:

This works great on the development box, but when I put it on the production server.. nothing.
Do you think this is a server configuration issue. I presume that flex is talking to the javascript file 'AC_OETags.js' to make this all happen.
am having this problem of sending XML request to an addresswhich starts with "https". The problem is I always get the errormessage "Error opening URL "https:......."", instead of the actualresponse which should be in XML format as well.The function I am using is "sendAndLoad()"requestXML and responseXML are objects of XML class . Whatfunction "sendAndLoad" above does is to post variables in the"requestXML" object to the specified URL "servelet_address". Theserver response is downloaded, parsed as variable data, and theresulting variables are placed in the responseXML object.However, as I stated above, I always get the error message.

The JAX-RS service receives the request and respond successfully with some dummy response, but I have no access to the request.data field.
How do I access the data of the request message (which is {"type":"get_configuration","data":"some data"} in this particular example)? I think that I'm supposed to add some parameters to the handleMessage method like

but this does not work at all. The request got 415 response.
When Flex application make an asynchronus HTTP request, does it add a special header to the request, like some JavaScript framework does? Something that indicates whether this request is an AJAX call/not.I just want my server side code to return different response format, depending on whether the request is made from browser/flex.
View 1 RepliesI have a simple sendAndLoad XML request that works perfectly on 95% of the computers I have used. I have check crosssite stuff and everything i can think of. Its not browser specific ,os specific, or flash version specific. On these computers I can run the same flash file on a standalone player and everything works flawlessly but inside of any browser it makes the request for the XML file and stops right there. After a while like 10 minutes flash gets tired of waiting and returns not found. I can navigate to the xml file via the same browser. Upgrading Flash doesn't help.The only thing consistent is it only happens to windows computers. The requested URL is the complete URL. I have changed this and still the same.IE or Firefox still the same. Version 9 player in both. I have montiored network traffic and see the request made and maybe a response but flash has moved.

I've been using Flash Video Encoder for quite a while now and never had a problem encoding flash from wmv. But in the last week suddenly encoding crashes on ever attempt. At first I thought it was a change in the format of the video that was being introduced, but then I tired videos that I know that I've converted previously. They crash too. I've also tried on 3 different computers, that have all had success in the past.
View 6 RepliesI have some German content which contains an umlaut (ü). This content is being built into an XML file. I then have a flash file which uses the xml to build a coverflow. My problem is that the 'ü' character is not being displayed in the coverflow. I've made sure the xml is encoded correctly, as you can see from the snippet below:

As you can see, the umlaut is in the albumName element, but when that text displays it simply misses out the 'ü'. I've added a bunch of encoding groups to the text element in the coverflow file, as well as specifically adding the 'ü' in the 'Include these characters' element. I'm stuck for how to get this to display.
Is it possible to "POST" JSON data in the body of a request with LoadVars? I understand LoadVars sends data as name>value pairs. How can I send the data in the body instead?

I get the twitter page to open from the flash file but when it passes the variables, it is passing it as the following into the browser address bar [URL] and on the twitter page text box it shows [URL]. The browser is rendering the percent sign and the number 20 as actual text and not as the space that I need it to.

Internally, the filename is read from a UTF-8 XML file, e.g. "my filé.pdf". The code goes something like this:

The problem is that the URL is encoded in Latin1, i.e. the é is encoded as %E9 instead of %C3%A9 (according to FireBug). How can I get Flash to encode the URL correctly?

View 1 RepliesI'm optimizing a PNG encoder for use within Flash SWFs (but I'm writing it in HaXe).I've so far managed to speed things up a fair bit, mostly by using speedy memory read/writes.While profiling my code, I noticed that about 75% of the time is spent in a single call to Flash's built-in compress() method, which uses the zlib algorithm (which uses DEFLATE in turn).I'm not too fussy about compression ratio, but faster compression would be awesome. So, I was wondering if it's worthwhile to try to implement zlib/DEFLATE myself. A little searching has turned up the zlibC.implementation source, but it's not exactly light reading (or easy to port!).Are there any simple implementations of zlib/DEFLATE that I could use as a starting point? I'd rather not have to wade through the two specs, especially since I don't know whether an implementation running in AVM2 could even perform as fast as the native Flash one in the first place.
View 3 RepliesAdobe's "SWF File Format Specification v10" says that Speex encoded data can be used for streaming sound (a little clarification of the "streaming sound" definition here: "The SWF file format supports a streaming sound mode where sound data is played and downloaded in tight synchronization with the timeline. In this mode, sound packets are stored with each frame." - this has nothing to do with any FMS streaming, no ActionScript needed - just plain SWF).This should be accomplished by using a single SoundStreamHead2 tag with StreamSoundCompression set to 11 (which means "Speex", as stated in the abovementioned Specification) and then N pairs of ShowFrame and SoundStreamBlock tags. However, this does not work - Flash Player plays no sound when playing the SWF generated by me this way. Please note, that I am capable of generating such SWFs containing streamed MP3 or PCM data, which then play perfectly. Just not Speex...
I strictly conform to the Specification:URL...I tried the streaming sound approach as well as the event sound - both do not work.Moreover, I was not able to find (anywhere on the Internet) any sample SWF with streaming sound (nor event sound) encoded in Speex. Do they even exist? Anyway, Flash CS5.5 is not capable of generating them.I would just like to know whether Speex support for SWF streaming sound can be found anywhere else than in the Specification. (I know that FLV can contain Speex and that Flash Player can stream Speex from a microphone and that FMS can stream Speex to its clients, but this is not what I am asking for)
