Is it possible to request some data in a Flash movie from PHP at run-time? Maybe my real-world implementation can clarify some things:
I use a Flash movie to store a Local Shared Object (because for some reason I need LSO's instead or regular PHP cookies). Now, when I load up a PHP file I want to somehow retrieve the data from the LSO at runtime, assign it to some variables, and use the variables through the rest of the script.
when uing netsream.seek(), how can i make a new request to the server if the seconds parameter specifies a time outside of the currently buffered video data. I want to seek unloaded time
View 3 RepliesI'm basically interacting with a third party API flash file to send HTTP POST requests to my server. know I'm on somewhat the right path because it requires a crossdomain.xml file, and before I added that part nothing in the POST variables was showing up, however since I added that file there are 4 variables that are set, these POST variables are sent by the application to give me basic information about the file.. but I actually need to read the RAW POST data to actually save the image being sent by the Flash.I'm aware there are 3 ways...$GLOBALS['HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA'] $HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA which is probably the same as the firstfile_get_contents('php://input')For whatever reason, neither of these "work". By "work" I mean they're not being set, when I var dump them I get nothing.
Could it be that there's a setting in php.ini that I need to set, or perhaps the Flash application is truly not sending the actual image? I think it's doing the right thing, because it's a semi popular API and it's used by a couple other sites so I'm pretty sure it's right on their end.
I'm new to Flash and trying to communicate with an app engine server but I'm having some encoding problems. [code]This does not work, gives me some encoding errors on the server side. But if I switch POST to GET it automagically works.

This POST request was sent by a Flash (.swf) object, so it's a little bit complicated in configuring the header.It does not print out anything in the end, so there must be something wrong with PHP code that I could not see.Here is what WireShark captured:

I am sending a request to a server. If i didn't get a response i need to send a request once again after 3sec. Like this i have to check for 3 times. If 3 rd time also it fails i need to terminate the request by prompting a msg to customer.

In somepage.php, I can grab that JSON data using $_POST['data'].However, on this project, the developer of the web service requires the JSON content to be the BODY of the request (i.e., not a name/value pair). Is this possible with LoadVars?
I'm loading a Flex 4.5 module (it's a SWF file) using a PHP code like this:

Now I want to get some extra data to load and populate the module with that data in just one request handler, something like:

I was trying to do it with AMFPHP but the ByteArray seems to be broken or something because it doesn't show up, but the rest of the data is fine:

I'm passing the following parameter as an url fragment to flex. (#groupID=2385)
This works great on the development box, but when I put it on the production server.. nothing.
Do you think this is a server configuration issue. I presume that flex is talking to the javascript file 'AC_OETags.js' to make this all happen.
am having this problem of sending XML request to an addresswhich starts with "https". The problem is I always get the errormessage "Error opening URL "https:......."", instead of the actualresponse which should be in XML format as well.The function I am using is "sendAndLoad()"requestXML and responseXML are objects of XML class . Whatfunction "sendAndLoad" above does is to post variables in the"requestXML" object to the specified URL "servelet_address". The JAX-RS service receives the request and respond successfully with some dummy response, but I have no access to the request.data field.
How do I access the data of the request message (which is {"type":"get_configuration","data":"some data"} in this particular example)? I think that I'm supposed to add some parameters to the handleMessage method like

but this does not work at all. The request got 415 response.
When Flex application make an asynchronus HTTP request, does it add a special header to the request, like some JavaScript framework does? Something that indicates whether this request is an AJAX call/not.I just want my server side code to return different response format, depending on whether the request is made from browser/flex.
View 1 RepliesI have a simple sendAndLoad XML request that works perfectly on 95% of the computers I have used. I have check crosssite stuff and everything i can think of. Its not browser specific ,os specific, or flash version specific. On these computers I can run the same flash file on a standalone player and everything works flawlessly but inside of any browser it makes the request for the XML file and stops right there. After a while like 10 minutes flash gets tired of waiting and returns not found. I can navigate to the xml file via the same browser. Upgrading Flash doesn't help.The only thing consistent is it only happens to windows computers. The requested URL is the complete URL. I have changed this and still the same.IE or Firefox still the same. Version 9 player in both. I have montiored network traffic and see the request made and maybe a response but flash has moved.

The idea is a producer declared in Java send message using activeMQ and consumer declared in Flex receives them. I have configured the AMFChannel with a polling interval 0, but I have seen when the consumer subscribes to the destination in Flex, the time request can be of up to 3 seconds.

We have implemented a Flash photo slideshow on our site and it works just fine for most of our users. Whenever the xml.load(success) returns false I have the Flash email me a debug report. For the life of me I can not find a common thread between all of these people having problems with the Flash. I don't think it's a cross-domain issue because it works for most people, and I have the crossdomain.xml files where they should be.

I have created real-time data loading flash file. I'm loading realtime data in dynamic text filed using variable. From JavaScript, I'm pushing the data into those dynamic text fields with 10 seconds interval.
Now I want to animate the dynamic text fields when the new data load into the text filed.
I am developing a non-real time browser RPG game (think Kingdom of Loathing) which would be played from within a Flash app. At first I just wanted to make the communication with server using simply URLLoader to tell PHP what I am doing, and using $_SESSION to store data needed in-between request. I wonder if it wouldn't be better to base it on a socket connection, an app residing on a server written in Java or Python.
The problem is I have never ever written such an app so I have no idea how much I'd have to "shift" my thoughts from simple responding do request (like PHP) to continuously working application. I won't hide I am also concerned about the memory and CPU usage of such Server app, when for example there would be hundreds of users connected. I've done some research. So, considering the fact I don't need real time data exchange, will it be wise to develop the server side part as socket server, not in plain ol' PHP?
I am a pretty big newb- my challenge is get a flash page to look to a database and check for updates constantly (in the realm of 1update/second) then pull new data as it is added.

I created a row of movie clip buttons + eventListeners (CLICK) with a for-loop. i now want to take an array that consists of a list of swfs (i.e., var myArray:Array=new Array(); myArray=["thing.swf","dog.swf",more.swf",etc}--and programmatically assign a loader + URL request to each of the created movie clip buttons that will load the swfs on the button click.
View 1 RepliesI have a fairly complex animation movie clip within my main timeline in a Flash file. When you click a button, it plays the movie clip, then goes back out to the main timeline. The first time the movie clip runs, it plays choppy and slow, but if I play it two or more times, it plays correctly (smoothly). Is there some actionscript I need to preload the movie clip, or some other solution to the first-run slowness?

I know with animated gifs you can tell it to "play" 5 times (or however many times you want). Is there a way to do this in Flash? Or would it be something I set on my html page?
