Actionscript 3 - Flash Call Of Multiple Properties For Object In Class?
Jan 16, 2011
I have a MainClass and a GUIClass.The MainClass lets the GUIClass handle everything about the GUI.How do I call different Object properties from the MainClass to the GUIClass.
im having trouble figuring out how to script a tween in AS3 with multiple properties. I have the single property syntax down, like such, import fl.transitions.Tween;import fl.transitions.TweenEvent;import fl.transitions.easing.*;var name:Tween = new Tween( gar, "x", Regular.easeInOut, 60, 300 , 3, true);
but if I want multiple properties, im having trouble finding that info.
I'm just starting to learn about classes in actionscript, I am following along with Moocks book Actionscript for Flash MX and are trying to execute a trace on the properties of my ballclass but all I get is undefined. He is what I have in my actions panel.[code]
I made a movie clip that is linked to a class named "Fugel". In the "Fugel" class I want to access the object's properties (x, y, rotation, alpha...) that I created in the main FLA file. I'm trying to center it in the constructor, but I don't know how to. The "this" keyword doesn't seem to work.
Here is the code for the "Fugel" class:
Code: package { import flash.display.MovieClip; public class Fugel extends MovieClip { public function Fugel() {
i'm attempting to cast an object's property as an actual property of another object. here's my object variable: var propObj:Object = {prop:"width", width:50}; now i want to assign the property of a sprite using that object's properties. var sp:Sprite = new Sprite(); sp.(propObj.prop as Sprite.property) = propObj.width; now, i'm not even going to try that because i know the compiler will explode all up in my face. but you should be able to see what i'm trying to do. why i'm trying to do it is because i'm reading in an XML file with an undetermined list of usable properties for specific objects. so instead of writing something like a huge switch statement to evaluate whether the XML file has a value for that specific property, i'm trying to assign properties dynamically based on what's available in the XML file. if what i'm trying to do is possible, what's the best way to do it?
I have a RemoteObject returning a 'Schedule' class. I've created a client side RemoteClass to map to it. All properties of the class instance are coming in fine. I just not clear on how I go about calling methods on the class. How would I call a setter on startdate?
package classes.remote { [Bindable] [RemoteClass(alias="com.site.data.schedule.Schedule")] public class Schedule { public var id:int; public var modifydate:Date; public var startdate:Date; public var enddate:Date; }}
If an object, or say... a document class, creates an instance of a class (and stores it as a variable), and it doesn't pass any arguments to the constructor of the class, can that class object, by simply having a function of it called by the parent, tell who sent it that command/request? In other words, can a class object know who called it (such as it's parent) via a (seemingly) anonymous call?
I forgot to put it in the title so I'll just place it here; I am using AS 2.0. I know that there are other ways to accomplish the goal that am after, but I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to access the properties of an object's properties?
Here is the code that I thought of, even though it doesn't work
var a:Object = new Object(); a.bproperty = 0; //lowerlevel properties a.cproperty = 1; // lowerlevel properties
[Code].....
This really just boils down to how I am organizing the code(I have ideas on what do next, and i am 99% sure that I can get them to work), and if there is a way to dynamically access the properties of the objects properties, It will save me from creating yet another large block of code for my project. so I have a function on the Main Timeline that creates an instance of the class Ball once every 60 frames (1 second). In the class code for Ball I have this:
I have a Document class that instantiates a class named Other. I need to call a function in the Other class from the Document class.I'm getting this error: Call to a possibly undefined method OtherFunction through a reference with static type Other.I have read online that you need to use make the functions static or use a getter function but I'm unclear how to do that. I haven't been able to make it work and I feel like i'm missing something fundemental with this problem.below are simplified versions of the classes.
I have the livedocs wide open and I still can't figure out how to send off multiple variables in an object (from a class) to the FLA file...[URL] The setup: I have a class that extends EventDispatcher. I created an Object called _pass, public var _pass:Object;. In my last function (everything is cool up until now), I have four variables that need to be passed to the main fla. Let's say they're param1, param2, param3, param4.
It was explained to me that I could use the public var _pass:Object; by first creating an instance of the object like so, _pass = { param1, param2, param3, param4 }; (each param is available in the function). Having setup an object instance, I could then dispatch the object to read from within my fla: dispatchEvent(new Event(Event.COMPLETE));.
But I get these errors:
1084: Syntax error: expecting colon before comma. 1083: Syntax error: rightbrace is unexpected.
As the livedocs show, you can use an associative array (with braces and a colon), but I don't need that. I just need to pass my variables that are pre-made to the FLA.
if you have an active state and a passive state for something, you can jump between the two with gotoAndStop(2), gotoAndStop(1); or you can manipulate whatever property is changing directly (e.g. if it's alpha, then symb.alpha=0.5, symb.alpha = 1.0). I've found myself jumping between the two, and I don't like it (I like to have a standard, or at least a usual). What's considered a good practice
I have 35 movieclips, named s1, s2, s3 etc, depending on the value of currentDisplay, I would like to set a movieclip visible property to true while the others are set to false, I have tried the following:
Code: for (i=1; i<36; i++){ trace(i);[code]....
but I receive an error message: 1083: Syntax error: dot is unexpected. I assume it is referring to the dot before visible.
I have a document class called Main.as In the class constructor I have the following listener:
enter code here var listeningFORModeChangeToStudent:Sprite = new Sprite; listeningFORModeChangeToStudent.addEventListener(TellAllModeChangeToStudent.STUDENT,exp); addChild(listeningFORModeChangeToStudent);
[code]....
In a third class I make a call to the despatcher in the previous class:
enter code here var ThisTellAllModeChangeToStudent:TellAllModeChangeToStudent = new TellAllModeChangeToStudent; ThisTellAllModeChangeToStudent.tellAllModeChangeToStudent();
I have trace statements in eveything and from this I know the despatcher in TellAllModeChangeToStudent is being called.The problem is that the listener in the main.as is not calling the function exp.I cant see why and I dont know how to check if the listener is actually seeing the dispatch event?
If I've already specified in the symbol's package which class the symbol's class extends, do I still need to specify the base class in the symbol properties dialog?
I have a problem when making flash applications with more than one frame that has symbols placed on it in that I can't declare all of the event listeners for the objects at the same time and I have found that even if I put them all on the first frame, add the event listeners, then click through to the next frame then the buttons won't work on that frame.
Does anyone have any idea how I could solve this? I did consider myself a fairly competent AS3 programmer until I realised I had no idea how to handle this sort of thing. Solved: I initialised the clips from my external class and then addChild'd and removeChild'd them as I needed to and placed their x and y on addChilding.
I'm fairly new to AS3. In AS2 I often used objects to store properties so I can creatre them dynamically and refer to them later.Sometime I use an array as a property. I am wondering if my method of doing this is the best way, or if AS3 has other methods that might be better suited.In this case I have an object that stores properties like ID no. and I also want to store an array of sub properties which are in array.[code]
My aim is to access the FileReference class Flash Player 10 properties,methods and Events using CS3 instead of CS4.For load() ,save() methods needs runtime version of Flash Player 10.I need to include the flash player 10 in CS3 publish settings Version.Otherwise you can suggest how i can able to access the FileReference class new properties and methods without CS4.
I am extending TextField to create my own implementation of it, and there are some properties & methods I would like to simply remove from use, eg:
override public function setTextFormat(format:TextFormat,[...]):void{}
I would like now to hide setTextFormat from code hinting, so when, in some other class, I type:
var t:MyTextField = new MyTextField; t.set
And hit ctrl+space I only see setPropertyIsEnumerable(...) and setSelection(...), no trace of setTextFormat(...). But no matter what I do it still appears, I tried @private metatag in asdoc, as well as some made-up (like @remove, @disable, @ignore, @deprecated). Using [Exlude] doesn't work either as, afaik, it works only with mxml. Is there some way to actually accomplish this task? Or am I forever left with useless and redundant code? Some plugin maybe? (I know I can just leave it as is and don't double methods, but, nevertheless, I'd rather have it my way)
I will be choosing which mask to use based on users selection of puzzle piece.When I try to use traingular mask by adding puzzle.gotoAndStop(2) the swf just flickers. Thought the holder_mc and mask_mc are exactly of same dimension one comes below lower than other though I have not altered the position of the clips within a puzzle piece.If you want to take a look at my fla here it is https:[url]....How to go to a specific frame 2. Why is position of two clips inside the piece changing
