Update2: If I modified the onUpdate function like this, onComplete is called but onUpdateProgress is called only once

I'm trying to create a simple skin for the flex progressbar control. Both the track and the bar should have rounded corners, and the bar should fill the track completely in the parts where it is being shown.
Here is the bar skin I've created based off this example:

Instead of the bar being flush with the track, there's a margin, and the rounded border gets cut off.
I've created a component which is basically a meter (extends skinnable container). The skin to the component contains two rectangles (background and the actual meter). This component receives an arraycollection with the following fields value, max and min(the arraycollection I am passing is Bindable). When I initialize and pass the data to be used to draw It works great (keep in mind - only works the first time). I've created a button that changes the data array and shows the current meter value. Apparently the meter's value is changing everytime I modify the ArrayCollection I've set to be used for rendering.(dont want to say "dataProvider" because it is not a Flex dataprovider, just a variable )... here is the code...

I want to create a list of progress bars and update the list accordingly.I have group data in an Array as

I wanna set a custom skin on my progressBar, but it's not working out the way I want it to. My skin has 3 different colors on it (green, yellow, red) and green should show until it's about 50%, then I want the yellow to appear after green and the red at 90% after green and yellow. So at 100% they should all show.The problem is that the ProgressBar only sets the width of my skin so all colors are showing at all times. But if I use the indeterminateSkin but dont set indeterminate to true that doesn't happend.How can I make a skin that doesn't just change width? Atm I'm just using a MovieClip for a skin.

I have a ProgressBar in MANUAL mode responding an URLLoader's progress events that seems to get drawn far less frequently than I would like. If I debug the app, I can see many events firing from the URLLoader yet it seems that the ProgressBar is being re-drawn at some random and slow rate.
Now if this was my own code (URLLoader is a black box), I would pause once in a while to let the UI update, say via loop with a timer. I presume that the URLLoader itself is blocking the main thread from processing drawing code. Adding validateNow() and invalidateDisplayList() does not seem to help much.

Now there are many TResources (just a class that can manage its data) being loaded in sequence, but the URLLoader is so greedy that it does not let the UI get updated more than a few times when loading & processing (parsing into XML objects) 50 or so 10KB files. So just counting which files loaded visually does not work either; I'm lucky to get 2-3 screen updates the entire time.
Loading a 700MB file looks much better, but again the progress bar updates are random and slow.
Additionally, I'd like to know if there is any way to influence or even control the rate at which ProgressEvents are fired by the URLLoader class. I have not been able to find at what rate it normally dispatches progress events either; is it at a fixed percentage per file or every x frames or milliseconds?
As these are local files, would I be better off not using the URLLoader class and instead switching to FileStream?

The difference here are two things, the earlier error is while converting flash event to custom event and now this one is while converting custom event to flash event and secondly, I have no clue why it is trying to convert to the mouseevent where I am just dispatching my custom event with proper listeners.

The motivation here is that I can now create a couple different skin files to change the look and layout of those subgroups. Reading source of the spark panel, there are some calls within the mx_internal namespace such as getMXMLContent() which is a method of the spark group component, but which I have no access to.
Does the description above make sense? How can I create custom 'contentGroups' in my custom Flex4 component that can use nested mxml child components? Should I approach this a different way?

- The event listener does not listen to the custom event duspatched by an AS class.
Those who wonder, the event really gets dispatched, that's why I added a trace call.
I'm resizing a chart and want to take a picture of it when all the children of that chart are done updating.
For example I'm drawing some stuff on the chart after the size changes. I've tried chaining a bunch of callLater() but I'm still running into problems on slow computers.
Raising an event when the last children has executed doesn't seem to work as it might take a while to draw (hence the callLaters).
Is there a best practice to find out when something is done updating?
In the main file, I would write[code]...
But if I want the component to have that behaviour innately, where do I write it in the mybutton mxml file to have it reference itself?[code]...
My Combobox is not alway updating when I update the ArrayCollection.[code]...
the first time it updates the combobox fine and sometimes it works the 2nd, 3rd, etc time is might update the combo box. After it stops updating the combobox, it never does until I restart the app. I have verified that the ArrayCollection is updated via the debug data, it is just the combobox is not updating the display.

View 3 RepliesI am trying to work with a global variable in Flex and it does not appear to be working correctly. In my default mxml file I declare the following

This variable keeps track of the session ID across my application for SQL purposes. On another mxml page I call the following code which should update the global variable to the current ID.

Lastly I run a SQL Update query using the ID as a parameter. My problem is that the FlexGlobals.topLevelApplication.appID is always 0, for some reason the global variable never gets updated, I have checked to ensure that result.data[0] is correct but the value never gets passed to the global variable.
Is updating a Flex Mobile Application done in the same way an Air application is updated? Can't seem to find information specifically for mobile on this. Apparently, if I trace out Updater.isSupported, it gives back false. From the Adobe documentation: The AIR update framework is only supported in the desktop profile. It is not supported for extended desktop applications (applications installed with a native installer), and it is not supported on the mobile profile (iPhone applications written with ActionScript 3.0). Check the Updater.isSupported property at runtime to see if the update framework is supported. So how do you implement updates for Mobile Apps created with Flex (Android + iOs)?

I want to create a text box and a DateChooser as the datefield didn't do what I wanted and it's Halo so I can't skin it easily. I want the DateChooser to show when I click on the text input. I'm new to Flex and am having trouble understanding Events. I think Events are what I want to use for my situation. I have 2 components, addUser.mxml and listUsers.mxml. I access these from a ViewStack in my main application. When I load listUsers.mxml it shows a list of current users in a datagrid via a HTTPService call. When I add a user using the form on addUser.mxml I would like the datagrid in listUsers.mxml to refresh when I return to that view to show the new user. I've tried several different things with addEventListener and dispatchEvent but can't seem to get it working. Can someone help me with this logic?
