Actionscript 3 :: Flex BitmapData Or ImageSnapshot For Uninitialized Components
Oct 20, 2009
I would like to make some kind of thumbnail with capturing BitmapData or ImageSnapshot of some UNINITIALIZED components in my Flex application. Is it possible?
I can take snapshot of a component. But the problem is the component is lil bigger with scroll bars. The saved image has scrollbars (only the visible area is getting saved). What i need is I want the entire component to be saved as an image.
This exact functionality is available while we print the component using FlexPrintJob, where by setting the FlexPrintJobScaleType.NONE.
I'm loading and displaying a large image say 6000 x 6000 px using an image tag. I wanted to take a snapshot of the image. But the maximum limit I get is 2880 px dimensions using Flex 4, flash player 10. Didn't the limit of FP 10 increased to 4096 px? Then why am I getting 2880? Is there a way to increase that size.
The task was meant to be quite simple: I needed to initialize variable with new keyword dynamically, depending on it's type. For example:
public var object:Sprite; ... object = new Sprite();
In this case type is Sprite, but it could be anything and a method which actually instantiates it with new, doesn't know with what type it was declared. Of course I could store type (or class name) in string variable and instantiate object with it. But I just wonder if I could get that type info from the object itself, 'cause it's declared in a class and logically thinking it's type info might be stored somewhere and be retrievable.
I'm currently working on a flash game and I need to know how to addChild a BitmapData or draw a BitmapData to screen. If I can't than how can I give a DisplayObject my BitmapData?
I am created a dynamically adding a VBox, that contains two images. Into a Custom Component that is derived from UIComponent. The problem is the Vbox that contains the two image is only a really tiny size. I would like the VBox stretch to the size of the two images. This is how I am creating the Vbox....
Is it bad practice/design to nest components inside components using Flex 4? Should I simply be creating components and inserting them into my main application as below, or doesn't it matter?
As usual I've come across something easy to do in Flex but not in Flash. Flex has ImageSnapshot and PNGEncoder to get a .png out of a display object. Any way to do this in flash without using a 3rd party API as I can't distribute a license with my app. I'm using Flash CS5. I wish there was as much support for Flash as there is for Flex. I've had to write my own tree component, if I'd have used Flex I could have just used the Flex tree component. I'm hoping I don't have to write my own display object to png class myself.
When I publish the file, I'm getting the following error message in the Output panel:
**Error** Scene=Scene 1, layer=Layer 2, frame=1:Line 7: The class or interface 'BitmapData.loadBitmap' could not be loaded. var plaid:BitmapData.loadBitmap("plaid");
I am trying to use the reflect class from "http://pixelfumes.blogspot.com/2007/03/reflection-class-v3-with-source .html" but I keep getting this error:
ArgumentError: Error #2015: Invalid BitmapData. at flash.display::BitmapData() at Reflect() at Site_fla::GalleryPage_29/loadThumbs() at Site_fla::GalleryPage_29/sortXML()
[Code]...
btw, first I used assigned thumbContainer as the mc argument (outside the loadThumbs() function) and it worked but not exactly what I wanted... because I thought it is supposed to update when the movieclip is animated but it actually didn't... when I use a scroller, only the thumbs that are first loaded to the stage get the reflection..
I've been using BitmapData.copyPixels() to draw graphics onto a canvas (Bitmap).I need to rotate the resulting graphics without the use of draw() because it's vastly slower.How can I rotate the target graphic? I'm assuming that there might be a formula or library that I can use which will first reorganize the pixels that make up a graphic based on an origin (point) and radians.I'm pretty certain that I'm not capable of creating such logic, so if there are any known libraries that do this, that would be awesome.I'd like to achieve something similar to XNA's SpriteBatch.Draw() method, which accepts rotation as its 5th argument.
how to use the bitmapData collision method. Now I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to see at what angle or coordinate of the bitmapData the collision happens? I need it in order to figure the accurate bounce angle after the collision occurs.
I've been searching for the last couple days but can't seem to find a basic example of what I'm looking for. I'm developing a Flex 4.5 app and in it I have a viewstack of 2 components that use some of the same services. Currently the only way I can get the app to correctly use the web services is by defining 2 different web services that use the same PHP web service file. For example: I have an app, and within it I have a viewstack with tab navigation of 2 components: #1) retrieve a list of all Salary Employees, and #2) retrieve a list of all Contractors. Currently to get it working I am defining a UsersTableEmployees webservice within component #1 and a UsersTableContractors webservice within component #2, but they both point to the same PHP class, and only differ in the arugment value I pass to them. Ie, getUsers("employee") and getUsers ("contractors"). Of course this is not best practice.
Searching StackOverflow and Google gives me many results about ColdFusion and MVC (example What's the best way to share data between components in Flex?), but I'm still confused. Can anyone here point me to a basic example (even sample MVC) and source code of an app that uses Zend AMF and allows different components to call common web services?
I want to create a custom component library. the components are customize-able during creation time. means like Accordion or TabNavigator, when we drag and drop the Accordion in flash builder it
I am using a custom component within another custom component in a flex mxml application file.Is it possible to bubble events from an inner component to the outer component and handle events in the outer component?
I've made a mobile version of my software, with low-res images and such, and I can now fully buffer all my content (including a 360 frame animation which is buffered to memory). Problem is, that everytime I update the view, more memory is used.When I write image = new BitmapData();, does it store the previously created BitmapData's in memory? Do I have to flush the memory somehow before I draw my second picture in BitmapData?Example:
ActionScript Code: // In this example I draw using the same bitmapData several times, also //overwriting the first image. Do I have to somehow delete the data first, to
I'd like to make a series of components into a solid, consistently repeatable object. For example, suppose I have a "notification" template that I want to add to a notifications area every time something new happens. This template includes an icon (Image), text (label), and some space between these two things.
I want to take a template like that and make it so I can invoke it with a function like add_notification("icon", "text"). How would I go about doing that?
What is the right way for integrating a Flash component into a Flex application? I heard that there are different ways of integration between Flash and Flex: using SWF, using SWC (something else?). What are theirs pros and cons? What are the points of communication between them Flash and Flex? `I'm using Flash Builder 4 for developing Flex. And Flash Professional CS 5 for developing Flash.
How can I copy or duplicate the bitmapdata from a mx:image component?
I need to display the same image in multiple screens of my application and don't want to have to download the image multiple times.
I could just use a urlrequest to download the image as a bitmap and copy that but I like the way you can can just set the source of the image component.
I started converting this flex application to run on android using the new flex hero sdk.i already replaced all mobile-incompatible components and got it running a few times succesfully.
When I use the same libraries running the original webapplication it works perfectly.The big problem however are these random Invalid BitMapdata errors while starting the mobile application. Here's the whole output.
[Code]...
Now it seems to me that, wile running the mobile application, it is unable to find the image, as when I run the webapplication, using the same library where the above line of code is, it is able to find the image.
This problem has been haunting me for days now and I'm really starting to think this is a bug, especially because it sometimes DOES run. Or is there something I'm missing here.
the problem may be a simple one but I can't figure it out. I have an image loaded into BitmapData. now I want to take text from a textinput and put it on the BitmapData. Basically it's drawing a text on the BitmapData and get the result as another BitmapData that will consist of the original BitmapData with the text drawn over it on a specified position
The image is already held locally on the client PC and it is an Air application. The image is not embedded, it is in the Application Storage directory.
I have seen this question: How can i get a BitmapData object out of a File object from a local jpeg file in AIR? but it uses URLRequest which I don't think is what I need because the file is local.
I'm building a flickr application in flex at the moment but i keep getting sandbox errors when i invoke BitmapData.draw();.After doing some google research i found that the proper policyfile needs to be loaded.i do this using: Code:Now this still doesn't resolve the issues. Upon further research i found that i need to check the policy file first using checkPolicyFile = true;
how i can use actionscript component code in mmxl components,as in actionscript components we use classes ,but in mmxl component we can not use classes function, so how i can use actionscript component code in mmxl component
[Code]...
but i cant use this code in mmxl components how i can use public class DialogTitle extends HBox implements IBindingClient in mmxl component code,what are the way to use it,sorry i am newbie if it is silly question
I have a dozen different custom components in my flex app. I want to use an external xml config file to load the components at run-tine. Can someone tell me whats the best way to architect this? I want to load these components and add dataProviders and event liseners to them at runtime.
When i am not placing it under a repeater tag, the components are created from XML, but if i do then the components are not getting created.
