I'm loading and displaying a large image say 6000 x 6000 px using an image tag. I wanted to take a snapshot of the image. But the maximum limit I get is 2880 px dimensions using Flex 4, flash player 10. Didn't the limit of FP 10 increased to 4096 px? Then why am I getting 2880? Is there a way to increase that size.

View 1 RepliesI tried to limit the size of the AdvancedDataGrid to its rows. Currently I am using variableRowHeight to true and at the run time setting the itemRenderer's height. Hence every row has different height. But I found that the logic behind the calculation of Grid's height is plain and simple - measure the height of the first row, then multiply it with the number of rows. Please correct me if I am wrong here I did some POC on the issue and found that during the calculateRowHeight event -> it calculates the individual row height but somewhere down the line it is only multiplying the rowCount with the first row's height. Instead it should calculate every row and should sum up the height. PS: I tried below options:
1. rowCount = arrayCollection.length
2. dataGrid.height = dataGrid.measureHeightOfItems(0, arrayCollection.length)+ dataGrid.headerHeight
Is there a maximum size limit for files being uploaded in Adobe Flex?I am testing it on localhost and can't upload a file of roughly 300MB.Even though I receive the complete event, after I upload the file....I was able to upload a file of roughly 10MB.

It always is 20-40 px larger in both directions. I can't take it anymore!! What the hell is the matter with firefox his file is 6 years old for gosh sakes. It works and has worked online for years... so whats the Firefox problem all the sudden I am begging !If I can find a good flash designer who knows php, js, and html well, I am going to have future projects. But this little gem is a good promotional tool.... but the problem is......... FIREFOX wont display it right ! And why does firefox INSIST on putting the location bar in html popup windows! http:[url]....Its great, but i wanted to know what changes should i do at the ActionScript so that only accepts image files, and if possible to limit the file size upload and show a message when one of these conditions are violated.

Apparently I can get the desired behavior if I change HBox to Canvas but I would still like to know how to accomplish this with a HBox and why it differs from Canvas.

I can take snapshot of a component. But the problem is the component is lil bigger with scroll bars. The saved image has scrollbars (only the visible area is getting saved). What i need is I want the entire component to be saved as an image.
This exact functionality is available while we print the component using FlexPrintJob, where by setting the FlexPrintJobScaleType.NONE.
I am not a Flash user and would like some information as a client. I have some problems with my service provider and wanted to verify his claims regarding the software.
1. Is there a stage size limit to flash SC3 and what is it?
2. Is it possible that the software crashes because of the data added to it (pictures and vectors)? Or dose the crash is happening from insufficient computer resources?
3. Dose a 1027X768 stage require a substantial amount of computer resources? And is a 4 year old 17" mac book pro might crash repeatedly if such data is applied to it? I understand that these are not the general questions asked in this forum

When I click the type tool and drag a text box out and type a couple words at 235pt size it looks fine. as soon as I click off the text box, the text size jumps down. I have no idea why this is happening and I can't get it to stay. When I click the type tool on the box again the tet appears at the 235pt size. But when I click off of it and play the movie it is at the incorrect size.

but it gets jumpy and the target MC tweens back and worth on 2-3 frames (looks very very very laggy and buggy) i have 24fps and ive tried regular/elastic/bounce/strong tween settnings.
As usual I've come across something easy to do in Flex but not in Flash. Flex has ImageSnapshot and PNGEncoder to get a .png out of a display object. Any way to do this in flash without using a 3rd party API as I can't distribute a license with my app. I'm using Flash CS5. I wish there was as much support for Flash as there is for Flex. I've had to write my own tree component, if I'd have used Flex I could have just used the Flex tree component. I'm hoping I don't have to write my own display object to png class myself.

View 2 RepliesI set my images at 60% quality JPG files out of photoshop which seems to give a very nice representation. I set up a site to take a full screen, so I expect it to be larger on a bigger screen then what I see on mine. I figured to keep every image actual size at about 25% bigger when the finlal needed size in the layout, so if the site is ever on the bigger screen then images have some stored resolution to be enlarged and accomodate an increase in size. So all of mine images are scaled at about 75%.
Is it a good practise or things don't work this way in Flash? Perhaps it is better to keep the images to 100% (rather than importing intentially enlarges images) but make the maximum quality? Or both ways kind of work out?
Is there any way to make a stage larger than 2880x2880??? Normally it is not that much useful but there are times when I want to create a presentation that spans onto multiple monitors. I probably know the answer, but I thought that I'd ask anyways.

i got a logo, each letter it a clip, cos the logo is bit more than just text, but thats beside the point. I want each letter to start of larger than it should be and zoom out (scale down) to the normal size, pref with a bit of a bounce at the end, so it goes from very big to, slightly smaller then proper size, to proper size, get it? with help from Master64 (via IRC) i worked out that i could use _xscale and _yscale (i am relativly new here, lol ) but the problem i got is that it scales, but in huge jumps, not smooth.The class is ment to be reusable (duh!) so my concept is

Is there a limit to the size of video file an instance of FLVPlayback can handle? I have a set of H.264 encoded .mov files, and all but one of them run fine. There is one file that starts buffering, but even when the browser has downloaded the whole video, it still doesn't play. The file is ~300MB.

Is there a size limit on strings passed to a new XML variable during construction?I have noticed what I think is a hard limit on the size of strings passed as an argument to the constructor of a new XML variable in actionScript3. I noticed it while trying to pass a large string from javascript to a method in AS3.
Everything works fine as long as the string is less than about 330,000 characters, but as soon as the string I pass gets a little bigger than that (say 360,0000 or more) I always get a js error somewhere in the ExternalInterface and a ActionScript error when the data is recieved. I am running on IE.Here is what I am doing:In javascript I have:

I have a client that would like a Flash animation that's 5440 pixels wide, to span 3 widescreen monitors for a tradeshow presentation. Flash won't let me make the stage any bigger than 2880 - does anyone know any ways around that limit?I Googled it and found out that you used to be able to scale the SWF beyond 2880 in an HTML file, and it would show well using Flash Player 7, but apparently that trick no longer works in Players 8+.Any other ways to make a single SWF that can span 3 large monitors?

I have taken the bit rate down as low as possible and can only get it down to about 872kb. Is there any solution to lowering it down to the required 40k file size.
Also, for delivery would i just need to send the swf and html or does the flv need to go
