View 2 RepliesI'm looping through a recordset, and for each item I create at runtime a spark Label and set the text property from a field of the recordset. The labels must have a fixed width and some text goes multiline. I want to arrange the label vertically so I need to know the height of the label so I can place the next label properly, but when I try to read this property, after the labels is added through the addElement mehtod, it returns 0.

The component's children are populated from a database table using a repeater, and are basic checkboxes. There are enough of them that the flex app ends up being about twice the height of the screen, which means some of the rest of the layout goes crappy on me. By default the height of an Flex Accordion container is the height of the initially selected child. I'd like to be able to set the height to the tallest child so that no resizing or scrolling is necessary when other children are selected. I do not want to use the resizeToContent property. I want the size of the container to stay constant no matter what child is selected.
My current thought is to extend the accordion class setting the creation policy to "all" and then override the measure function to loop through all the children and find the tallest one and use that for the height. This seems a little kludgy though, so I'd like to know if there is a better approach. Ultimately my question is: is there a way to set the size of an accordion container such that the container never resizes and scoll bars are never necessary to display any of the children?
In the Spark DataGrid the default row height is about 22 px. I would like to set the default row height to 18 pixels and I can do this easily enough with the rowHeight property but what happens is when the rowHeight is set to anything less than 22 px the bottom area of the text in each row is cut off. It seems that the default grid itemrenderer or grid label has a min height set to it. Since I have multiple columns and want to have shorter rows but not have the bottom of the text cut off in each row how would I do this?

The contents of the flex app are very dynamic, and I don't want to have an extra scroll bar when there is already one. So is there a way to make the height of the swf match the height of the contents of the swf?

I tried validateNow(), but it doesn't work. The object is added, but VBox just doesn't display it, so it leaves a blank with a same height as my other object.

As part of my flash design, I want to have some tweening text. At the beginning of the tween, the height of the text needs to be distorted ('too tall'), and at the end of the tween, the text will have settled into its correct height. However, when I try to scale the text in the first keyframe of the tween, the font size changes along with the text field height. Normally, I could just make the text into an image, but this needs to be a dynamic text field. Is there no way to scale the height of the text field and distorting the text height without changing the font size?

The movie clip that contains the text box is called "flashmo_pic_info" and the text box name is "photo_description". I have a textfield 300 width x 300 heigth in the instance.after i loaded the xml into this textfield (xml_txt) , all the content stays within this txtfield. so if i select the text i scroll down..but i dont want this..

In my Flex 4 app I would like all my alert boxes to be a specific width and height, how do I specify that in the CSS? I want to avoid having to specify the width and height every time I want to show an alert, that's why I'd like to set it in the CSS, but does not look like there's a way to..
