View 2 RepliesI'm trying to make a color picker / swatch similar to the one in flash but I can't seem to go in the right direction, there are 6x6x6 colors to be displayed in order, from top left 000000 to bottom right FFFFFF.In each 6x6 square, horizontal adds Green, vertical adds Blue, each 6x6 square adds a shade of red.The hex values for a color are : 00,33,66,99,CC,FF. each of them adds 1/5 of 255(51) to the color...I've got the drawing part ok but what I'm missing is an array of color...

View 2 RepliesI want to use a loop to generate a number of boxes.The following code is the test loop code - set to loop just once at this stage.The problem is that it doesn't seem to like my [i] substitutions in the 'clickBox_inst[i]'.If I replace '[i]' with 1 it works.I've looked at lots of example code and can't see the syntax error I must be making (it's the first look I've tried to write).
for (var i = 1; i < 2; i++) {
clickBox_inst.duplicateMovieClip(["clickBox_inst"+i], 1);
clickBox_inst[i]._x = topLeft_x + outLineWidth;[code]....

PS - I just accidently posted this on the Flash section so apologies if anyone has read it twice.
I'm trying to generate a button with the loop of an array, But I can't make the icon style and the stylename work.
for (var x:int = 0; x < smileys.length; x++ ) {
var emoticon:Button = new Button();
var label:String = smileys[x][0];
emoticon.width = 24; emoticon.height = 24;
emoticon.x = positionX; emoticon.y = 0;

I am trying to use for loop to load small grey box to display in the image below.
But i couldn't figure out how to put in the if else condition when the col hits 7 and bring it to the next row.
Below is my if else code:
container1 = new Array();
container1 = this.firstChild.childNodes; //drawing info from xml file
spacing = 13;

If the subject isn't entirely clear, it's because I'm not sure how to describe what I want to do. What I have currently is a large group of ComboBox components which trigger an event handler, which uses a Switch...Case statement to determine the selection, and then uses another Switch...Case to figure out which ComboBox actually called it so the function called can use the appropriate arguments. The way I have it written has bloated the code, so I'm wondering if there's a shorter way to do this.

I'm trying to create a for loop to set the color objects outlineColor1...100 to the value defined in variable _root.outlineCol. Everything works fine when I set the color to these objects via 100 lines of code but I'd like to replace them with a for loop of course. I suspect the syntax in the first part of the second line is incorrect but I'm not sure.
for (var i:Number = 1; i <= 100; i++) {
outlineColor[i].setRGB(_root.outlineCol);
trace(i);
}
I'm trying to figure out the AS3 equivalent of this AS2 code. In this example there would be 10 movie clips on the stage with instances of "mp0", "mp1" etc... The actual project has hundreds of movie clips.
PHP Code:
for (i=0;i<10;i++){
var sectorColor:Color = new Color(_root["mp"+i]);
[code]....
How we can draw a color spectrum in AS3 using for loop?
View 3 RepliesI have this code to change the colors of some movie clips[code]...
Since I have lots of buttons, I wanted to consolidate this code into a For loop.
I'm looking for a way to smoothly cycle through the color spectrum in an infinite loop, but I can't find any topics on the subject and don't really know where to start. I'd also like to be able to control how fast it cycles. I'm guessing I'd probably want to look into Tweener?
View 2 Repliesi have a button, with instance name lightblue_color. I am assigning a color to its color field like this: lightblue_color.transform.colorTransform.color = 0x65ffff; then i am adding an eventlistener to the button like this: lightblue_color.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, ChangeColor); Then, in the function: public function ChangeColor(evnt:MouseEvent):void {trace(evnt.target.transform.colorTransform.color);} It prints 0. Why is that? Shouldn't it print 0x65ffff or do i need to do some type conversions?
View 2 RepliesIf I've set a color for an MC with new Color(),how can I remove that color again?
Code:
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
if (this.hitTest(_root._xmouse, _root._ymouse, true)) {[code]..........
i want to change a colors tint and store that color for later use to apply to dynamically created sprites, for some reason the code changes my place graphic as expect but when i draw a square using the Colortransform.color property the color always in gray scale?
Code:

I want to do as follows: * click a "red" button write in textarea with red color font click "blue" button
* write in textarea with blue color font Isn't this possible in flash 10 using AS3 I tried using setTextFormat but the problem is i have to have text before inserting format on that.
How would I make a dynamic text boxes border a certain color, along with background color.
View 1 Repliesi'm doing a school project of mine and i am having trouble doing the changing color objects. here is an axample of the script that i;m using:
on (rollOver) {
var colorful = new Color("_root.shapes");
colorful.setRGB(0x003366);
}
For this script it does change color, but how do i make it to stay the same color that user selected after going to another scene?

View 20 RepliesI am using a tilelist I want to change the border color and the background color of the tile on selection.
View 1 Replieshow could i remove these two colors for the header.... i could override rollover for the columns and leave the selection, but i want to remove these two effects from the header and i couldn't find a way to do that....
View 2 RepliesHow can I make the color from a mc, a square with a flat fill, fade from one color to another (by using actionscript only) ?
View 4 RepliesI'm making a flash app that allows you to create text, edit it. At some point, I need to get the text's color.
[Code]...
Then, you can stick the text on the movie and make a new one. During the creation of the movie clip holding the created text, all the format parameters of the text are passed to the movieclip. When I call back the .color parameter, it shows a value that isn't hex nor RGB... I've been googling for the last hour trying to find how to convert this back to RGB or hex values with no success. In this case, the value is : 65535
I am in the making of a isometric level editor, and I have about 15 movie clips with more to come. I want to let people change the color of tiles to what they want from a list of colors, so how can I let them change the color of a tile dinamicly with actionscript so that it changes a tile's color while preserving changes of "shadows"? I mean I have let's say a cube and to make it look 3D I need to change each face to make a feeling of 3D and not a flat one.
View 1 RepliesHoping someone can point me in the right direction with this. Instead of creating a button and nesting movie clips for each state, I'm trying to script an animated button of a square (no fill) where on rollover the stroke color changes from one color to another (tweening the tint). I want to do this to the button symbol so it's the same for all instances. Is this possible or do I have to go the button > nested MC route? Sorry if this is lame...it's been awhile since I've used Flash and I've forgotten quite a bit.
View 7 RepliesWe are creating an ecommerce site for my business and am trying to create a flash file that will allow the end user to select a color from a palette of 64 different swatches that they would like their item to be so it processed it into the order. I only need to create the flash file so they can select the color.
View 4 Repliesi have been doing this tutorial http:[url]..but i am stuck on PART 8, i have done everything the tutorial has said so far (although my image and the colors used are different) but the large blank box at the top of the color pallet isnt changing color when i click on any color from the pallet.
Also this tutorial doesnt say what version of flash and actionscript is best suited for this.Currently i am using CS4 & Action Script 2.0 but i don't know if this is correct. below there is a link to the fla. file that Coloring_Book.fla.
