Actionscript 3 :: Passing Informaton For Files With Loader?
Jan 12, 2010
I'm using Loader to get the image data out of a ByteArray. The problem is that I need to store that image data with a name (which is known beforehand) once it's passed to the complete handler. Since the operation is asynchronous, I can't be sure which image of multiple will finish loading first, so it seems I need to pass the information with it somehow... I can't seem to find any properties of Loader that pass any vaguely useful information along.
Any recommendations on how I might accomplish this?
I have a map of the US acquired from here (called U.S. Map). I am currently generating XML from inside an ActionScript file, and would then like to display this map using my generated XML as the argument. According to this, to do this in html would require the following declaration:world.swf?ata_file=pathname/filename.xmlHow can I replicate this behavior using the Loader from ActionScript? Right now I have:
var ldr:Loader = new Loader(); var url:String = "us/us.swf?data_file=senate.xml"; var urlReq:URLRequest = new URLRequest(url);
I´ve searched this all over the net but no success. I have a .swf loader were you can choose a language and then load the main swf. What I´m trying to do is to pass an variable from this loader.swf to the main.swf.

I have a preloader.swf which loads in media_player.swf which is fine. thats all working I also have the preloader loading in a variable from the webpage using flashvars and thats also fine i have that outputting onto a text box so i can see it but what im trying to do is set the source of a uiloader inside the media_player.swf to the variable that im loading into the preloader.swf.
PHP Code: myImages_mc = myGallery_mc.createEmptyMovieClip ("myImages_mc", myGallery_mc.getNextHighestDepth()); var myMCL:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader(); var myPreloader:Object = new Object();myMCL.addListener(myPreloader); for (var i:Number=0; i<myImagesTotal; i++) { [Code] .....
The problem is everytime I click on the image_mc, it traces "undefined". I need to know the value of "image_mc.main" when I click the image_mc. The "main" variable should be the "i", which is the number of loops. On the loop, it traces correctly, but when I put it on the onRelease function, it traces undefined.
I am trying to load a jpg into a loader so I go into the properties then change the content path to input a URL. It works fine on the stage but when I put it inside a button it doesn't work....
I am loading images into a movie clip dynamically from an XML file. Based on what image the user clicks, I would like to be able to open a separate window, displaying a different image. Ideally, I'd pass the variable of which image was selected to the new open window.I've done some research online, and am thinking I'm making this harder than it needs to be.
I've also seen where I could possibly pass a variable through ASP.NET, but am experiencing the same errors when trying to pass the variable. I suppose I could embed the popup.swf file in a new .aspx page, that would probably be acceptable.
I have a flash file that I made that displays a scrolling newsfeed (I'll call it newsfeed.swf)... I published it to an SWF. Now, I created a new flash file that I would like to use to show many instances of newsfeed.swf. In my new flash file, I have the following code:
In theory, when newsfeed.swf starts up, the ?s=MSFT variable should be passed in at the _root level such that I should be able to reference it and build the newsfeed to be displayed dynamically. I've tried several different things, but no matter what I do, the following code (the _root.s part) in newsfeed.swf returns "undefined":
I would prefer to not have to pass XML files between the swf files or use system objects as that would add a level of complexity I'm not ready to deal with (I'm a total noob at this stuff)...
I have 3 separate swf files which I would like to connect together via an swf loader. I've created an as3 loader before however it had buttons at the bottom of the page and just loaded the swfs at the top of the page. However this time I want a main page to load automatically in the loader and then when a button in that swf is clicked I want it to show another swf in the loader and then on click of the exit button in that swf it goes back to the original swf. Is this possible?
What I'm trying to do is this: "profilename" is the name of the attribute in the XML file I want to pull from. The XML file looks like this:
[Code]...
I'm trying to pull from the profilename attribute in the test.xml file, so I'm wondering if it's possible to pass in a value/argument in the addEventListener function as I defined above. Is this possible at all to do? I hope my explanation makes sense.
I have a main movie with a dynamically created menu (uses data gathered from an XML file). Each menu item has an Action and Variables associated with this action.
Now as you can see from my XML file above one of my menu options is a photo gallery. What I would like to to is have one swf, i.e. photoGallery.swf, and load this into an empty movie clip called content_mc and pass it different XML files (same format, but different content). (see my loadSlideShow() function)
how do I passing variables between two swf (html) files For instance how can I request the variable "var_1" in the file blikvanger.swf (or blikvanger.html).Here is my code of one as file (contact.as):
I'm working with Loader class in as3 and there comes some really strange problem. I have two swf files, one loading the other. In the first one, I have codes like this:
var loader:Loader=new Loader(); var context:LoaderContext=new LoaderContext(); context.applicationDomain=ApplicationDomain.curren tDomain; var req:URLRequest=new URLRequest("Untitled-1.swf"); loader.load(req); loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.CO MPLETE,onCPL); function onCPL(e):void{ trace("finish"); addChild(e.currentTarget.content); }
And the second one, with the name "Untitled-1.swf", doesn't seem to work in the first one. I find out that as long as there are ANY codes in the second swf file, the first one will repeat tracing "finish" endlessly.
I have several thumbnails in my portfolio that dynamically load a .png file into the Loader component called myLoader.Followed the tutorial from Kirupa. Simple enough.
When I (user) goes to click on a different client to view different work, artwork from the current client is still loaded, or being shown. I have the same myLoader Loader spread through the frames.I tried to put this
Code: on(press){ unloadMovie("myLoader"); } on each client button to clear the Loader before you go to each section, but that makes it disappear all together, than when you go to click a thumbnail, nothing happens because the Loader is gone.Is there a way to unload the .png files w/o killing the loader? Should I use a separate loader for each client? or will that just get messy.
I am loading an external child swf file into a MovieClip container in my main swf.I have a button in my child swf that when clicked, needs to be able to access a movieclip or variable that is in my main parent swf. How would I do this??
- in the parent.fla i created a dynamic txt box and var String named 'txt', this initialises the dynamic text box content to say "parent value".
- in the child.fla i tried to assign and send a new string value i.e. "child value" to 'var txt' which in found within parent.fla. At this point if everything was to work fine the dynamic txt box in parent.fla should output "child value".
I have 2 HTML files with embedded flash movies. One HTML file is the main area (main.html) with a flash movie called gallery.swf which has a grid of thumbnail pictures, and the second HTML file (popup.html) is a pop up chromeless window for enlarged images depending on the thumb's the user clicks. Essentially I need to pass variables to popup.html and ulimately its embedded movie enlarged.swf. These variables will basically be id's of the clicked thumbnails which I will use to locate the correct enlarged images on the server to load into into a container clip within enlarge.swf.
i was loading a images from web for a polio page.. and for god shake, the uploading of image using Loader class for .PNG file alwz stuck at 13765 Bytes and Threw error saying the URL not available .. i was sure that the image was there and it loaded upto 13KB ... this was damn freaking.. i took hours tryin to debug it.. the fix was so simple.. the image file was to be renamed .png rather than .PNG and all worked fine... How come and from when Flash started treating .png and .PNG in different way and why the image loaded to 13KB and said invalid url..?
I am using a content loader through AS3 to load some images and then later pushed into an array. I have pushed my image file paths in to an array (arrayImages). But when the loader loads the images it doesn't load the images based on the order they are listed in the arrayImages, instead they were loaded based on their file sizes. Is there anyway that these can be loaded in the order they were pushed to the array? Below is the code that i use to load the images.
function funcLoadImages() { for (var i:uint=0; i<arrayImages.length; i++) { var ldrImageLoader:Loader=new Loader(); ldrImageLoader.load(new URLRequest(arrayImages[i]));ldrImageLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener( Event.COMPLETE,pushLoadedImagetoAnotherArray); } }
Using the MovieClipLoader class, what is the difference between loading the external files into a Loader Component or into an empty movie clip. Will one be quicker? They both worked for me, but I've read using the Loader Component is better. Can anyone confirm this? I would think that avoiding components would make things faster/less file size.
I wrote this script a while ago and it's worked extremely well for me ever since. I use it in nearly every project I do. But the other day I was asked to do a project where I could only use Flash 7.
This is a class I made to easily handle multiple file preloading by passing it an array of files to load. It only has two useful methods. One gets you the current total progress (total of all the files 0-100%) and an onLoadComplete. The actual usage is in the top of the file. It works great under Flash 8, so go ahead and use it.
I have got 3 swf files scene1, scene2 and scene3. Out of which scene2 and scene3 are embedded inside html files named scene2.html and scene3.html. I also want to include pre-loader at every intervals between the scenes, since the total file size including images and scripts is around 4mb.
I want to have an AS3 app load images from url supplied by the user. But I don't want a malicious user to be able to load an SWF file in place of the image, such as with an altered extension "maliciousSwf.png". Well, not sure how big a security threat that is above and beyond the ability of the hacker to decompile swf, but I think that ideally such behavior should not be allowed.
So, is there any way to prevent this? When people allow users to load images in their Flash apps, do they somehow guard against loading of SWF? Or is this really absolutely no big deal?
i have situation in which i have some library projects, say
"DataProcessors","Lib2"
, included in my lets say "MainProject" (a web project) placed on directory
"E:in-debugMainProject.swf"
, when i build the project it automatically place all the libs .swf in its "E:in-debug" folder, but when i debug or run the project it it gives loading error that
I have two swf files, each one almost with the same classes, the most important one is a Singleton class, each swf does "singleton.getInstance()". The diference is that one swf is like a container and the other one is like a module. So when the container loads the module from an absolute path like loader.load("file://c:/modules/module.swf") or loader.load("[URL]"), two different singletons (same class) are created
But when the container loads from a relative path like loader.load("module.swf") , just one singleton is created (that is what I want) I am just intrigued with this behavior, could someone explain me this? PD: I believe is something related to loaderContext and applicationDomain but It also appears that isn't working right. -Patricio Foieri , Vertigo Labs
