Xml :: Passing Params To An External Swf Via Loader?
Apr 5, 2011
I have a map of the US acquired from here (called U.S. Map). I am currently generating XML from inside an ActionScript file, and would then like to display this map using my generated XML as the argument. According to this, to do this in html would require the following declaration:world.swf?ata_file=pathname/filename.xmlHow can I replicate this behavior using the Loader from ActionScript? Right now I have:
var ldr:Loader = new Loader();
var url:String = "us/us.swf?data_file=senate.xml";
var urlReq:URLRequest = new URLRequest(url);
For example: I have a function with MouseEvent.CLICK.Well.. Then I have two another functions with CLICK functionality too and I would like to pass params from these two functions to the first (and main) one.I am asking it because i am projecting a webpage which contains 3 buttons and two arrows.The 3 buttons functionality is done, it works perfect. But when I try to pass the actions triggered on the MAIN function (3 buttons) to the arrows functions (next and previous) I don't have NO IDEA how build it.
I have a flash banner and embedded the flash swf the usual way. The flash banner has an xml file that loads in images.when published it views and works fine. But when I incorporate into my site it doesnt load the xml file. I believe it is because on the site i have friendly URLS. so when you are on the home page it looks for the file in home/images.xml.when you are in about page, it looks for the file at about/images.xml.I believe that i have to pass a param giving the absolute path to the flash file so that it loads.
I just saw a flv player that was done in AS2.I wanted to know whether it's possible or not and how I could pass the needed flashvars, params and attributes to the flv player (swf file) once I load this flv player in a movie clip with the method loadclip.
How would I load a .swf from within a .swf with parameters?First, I need to know how to pass the parameters, and second I need to know how the other .swf is going to read those parameters...
I have the following code which simply loads an external swf, puts it in the right place and should all be hunky dory.This works:
Code: var myLoader:Loader = new Loader(); addChild(myLoader); var url:URLRequest=new URLRequest("foobar.swf");[code].....
to set the dimensions of the loader so the external swf doesn't 'spill over', the result is a blank screen. No matter how high I set those dimensions it just doesn't display anything.
I´ve searched this all over the net but no success. I have a .swf loader were you can choose a language and then load the main swf. What I´m trying to do is to pass an variable from this loader.swf to the main.swf.

I'm using Loader to get the image data out of a ByteArray. The problem is that I need to store that image data with a name (which is known beforehand) once it's passed to the complete handler. Since the operation is asynchronous, I can't be sure which image of multiple will finish loading first, so it seems I need to pass the information with it somehow... I can't seem to find any properties of Loader that pass any vaguely useful information along.
Any recommendations on how I might accomplish this?
I have a preloader.swf which loads in media_player.swf which is fine. thats all working I also have the preloader loading in a variable from the webpage using flashvars and thats also fine i have that outputting onto a text box so i can see it but what im trying to do is set the source of a uiloader inside the media_player.swf to the variable that im loading into the preloader.swf.
PHP Code: myImages_mc = myGallery_mc.createEmptyMovieClip ("myImages_mc", myGallery_mc.getNextHighestDepth()); var myMCL:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader(); var myPreloader:Object = new Object();myMCL.addListener(myPreloader); for (var i:Number=0; i<myImagesTotal; i++) { [Code] .....
The problem is everytime I click on the image_mc, it traces "undefined". I need to know the value of "image_mc.main" when I click the image_mc. The "main" variable should be the "i", which is the number of loops. On the loop, it traces correctly, but when I put it on the onRelease function, it traces undefined.
I have a main "shell" swf which, by clicking several buttons, will load/unload various external swfs into a Placeholder_mc which resides on the main timeline in Shell.swf In the documentation and tutorials I've seen a couple different methods, and I'm not sure I quite understand the difference, or at least the reason you would use one over the other...In the 1st method, you can just add the Loader object using the addChild() method:
Code:
var myLoader:Loader = new Loader(); var myURLRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("ExternalFileA.swf"); myLoader.load(myURLRequest); Placeholder_mc.addChild(myLoader);
This will apparently add myLoader to the display list once it has completely loaded.The 2nd method, you supposedly can add the Loader.content; however, it appears you can only do this once the content has completed loading, so you need to incorporate an event handler with the contentLoaderInfo object:
Code:
var myLoader:Loader = new Loader(); var myURLRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("ExternalFileA.swf"); myLoader.load(myURLRequest);
[code]....
What are the pros/cons of adding the entire Loader object, as opposed to the Loader.content and vice versa?
as3 is new for me, but i would like to write a script using loader to load an external swf, and control the external swf. But I find I can't control the swf, because there are no fixed instance name. here is my script.
i m working on AS3 project and called an fbjs function but i found this parameter null (fb_local_connection) when i check others like fb_ fbjs_ connection this is also null, it happens first time to me, anyone knows whats the problem ??
This is my case1: I have two swf : a.swf n b.swf2: I can't do any coding on a.swf but I can code on b.swf3: b.swf loads a.swf4: a.swf takes some params from html 5: Since b.swf now loads a.swf,how can I set loaderinfo params of a.swf from b.swf?So is there any way I can set loaderinfo params from loading swf to the loaded swf.
I have a few functions that accept several parameters. [code]...
Is there a way to loop through all the params (without knowing how many or their names) and put them in some kind of an array with their names, so I'd get an associative array [code]...
is it possiable to make a condition in the flash params like wmode = transparent, but I want to do something like playback = "option1" then in the flash file it will play the frame label "option1" and so on, so i could use the same flash on multiable pages in differnt states.
I am trying to filter an XML based on multiple parameters that I have as an input. I am trying to identify the parent nodes which have the matching records so that I can filter them out and process.
I have an interesting problem that I'm attempting to solve and I could use some pointers.Here's a basic run down of the AS3 script:[code]The problem is that the event listener always pulls the url from the last object in the array when you click any sprite (as would be expected).What is the best way to have the event listener only deal with the specific url of the specific iteration that creates it?
I have a loader component on my stage that I load 30 or so different external swfs into. Their stages are all exactly the same size as the loader. But one external swf has an image that extents outside it's stage size, AND it is this that gets rescaled (shrinks) when loaded into the loader. How can I fix the size of just this one external swf?
when I run the code there aren't any errors stopping it from compiling correctly. However when I click on my buttons i get an error saying:
Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2035: URL Not Found.
I'm guessing that I'm passing the variable off through the function incorrectly. I'd like it pass a string though so that I can pass the name of the file to load.
ActionScript Code: function contentScreen(mcName):void { var imageRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("mcName"); var imageLoader:Loader = new Loader();
I am trying to load an external swf into another swf using Loader but I am having difficulties to do so. The thing seems to be that some of the classes of the loaded clip are called the same as the parent clip's classes. Both swf's document classes are called "Launcher", for example, also they use StringUtil (tho both projects have their own "StringUtil" class).
