Actionscript 3 - Save Video Captured From Webcam Using Flash?
Dec 29, 2009
I'd like to use Flash to capure video from the user's webcam and then save it on the same server that hosts the Flash file. The web server will be running ASP.Net technology. Lot of searches yielded the same lines of code to start a webcam capture using Flash. I can't find anything that sends that captured video back to a server.
I can find lots of blog and forum posts that imply 3rd party software or Flash Communication Server is required to collect it on the server, but I don't understand why. It seems like Flash ought to be able to capture some video and send it as an HTTP post to the same server that hosts the Flash file. That's pretty basic Flash/webcam functionality, right? It seems like we don't need to introduce 3rd party dependencies just yet.
Im making a flash app that will capture video from the users web-cam, show whats being captured and when he clicks submit, send this to the server. Its already capturing video from the user web cam, but its not recording anywhere. Whats my next step to save it somewhere where it can be played to the user after recorded and after he clicks in a submit button send it to the server?
I'm working on a site, which needs to have a feature of users capturing their opinions about a specific topic with their webcam, and uploading them to the server. After a short research, and viewing similar questions like this one I ran out of possibilities:
I cannot use Flash Media Server (out of budget) I cannot use Red5, as the server where the app will be hosted is not able to build or install it. (our server guy told me that Red5 was last updated in 2007, and he got some errors which I include below (in case that someone would have an idea how to fix it) )
red5 install errors:
xxyyzz@zzyyxx ~/red5 $ sh red5.sh Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/red5/server/Standalone
This will create an flv video file on flash media server:
var nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection(); nc.connect(null); var ns:NetStream = new NetStream(nc); ns.publish("yourCamera", "record"); ns.attachVideo(Camera.get());
How can I generate an image for the current video frame every 2 seconds?
I noticed that AS3 is able to take a snapshot out from a webcam & save it as a .jpg but is AS3 capable of recording a video with a webcam and save it to a local disk/network server? any video format is fine with me as long it can be played with window media player.
I would like to save a webcam captured video to the local disk using AS. The application is running in a standalone Flashplayer 10. I can save pictures from ByteArrays using file.save, but I can't find a way for doing this with video. There is a nice implementation for that using AS and AIR at http:[url]...I don't want to have to install AIR before running the app.
I'm trying to morph image captured through a webcam. The webcam snapshot part is already working but I still have no clue on how to do the morphing part. Can anyone point me to a tutorial (or kindly post code sample) on how to achieve image morphing using flash actionscript 3?
I have been having a bit of trouble with AS3 and webcams. I have a script that connects to a webcam and then sends its output to a php script that saves the captured image. This works all except for one problem. It seems that the maximum resolution allowed for the actual Camera object is 320x240. I went to the extreme of hooking a Canon 60D up as a webcam because I have a normal webcam that is supposed to have max resolution of 1280x720 and all I can get is a 320x240 image from it. What I have found so far is the max I can get out of the Canon is also 320x240. Maybe I have been looking at this to long but I am stumped. Below is a sample of the action script where videoCapture should be 1024x768. What happens instead is a 1024x768 image is created with a black background and in the top left is a 320x240 image from videoCapture. I could obviously resize this but that would defeat the purpose being poor quality. Is there something I am missing here or maybe some limitation of Flash even?
Im looking to make the brightness of footage being captured by a webcam as a trigger to start or stop an event or animation. basically when the brightness being captured by the webcam goes below a certain level a layer will be effected and when the brightness goes back above this level it will revert back to its original state.
I have an interesting project wherein I need to allow users to capture video of themselves with a webcam at a kiosk, after which I email them a link to their video. The trick is the resulting video needs to be a 'slow motion' version of the captured video. So for example, if someone creates a 2 minute movie, the resulting movie will be 4 minutes.I'd like to build this in Flex / AS3 if possible. I don't have issues capturing the video and storing it / generating and emailing a link, but slowing down the video is the real mind bender. I'm unsure how to approach 'batch post-processing' a set of videos using Adobe tools
I almost think it's impossible but I know little. I saw once on a website a streaming webcam video in fact it was live. I right-clicked it and it was in flash. Does anyone know how do streaming video with a webcam in flash?
I'm totally new to AS3 and I have an upcoming project on it. It's a virtual hairstyling project but I have no idea how to get the first part to work. This is how the first part of the project goes:First, it will ask the user to take 3 pictures of themselves using the webcam (probably some buttons that says "take picture"). These 3 pictures should be saved temporarily in the flash. After all pictures are taken, it will ask user to choose one that they like the best and will proceed with the next step. And if they don't like any of it, they can take the pictures again.
my task is to code a flash application that lets an user take a snap shot with webcam, attach it to an movieclip and modify the self portrait by adding hair, hats, glasses etc. that are available on menu.[URL]..
I managed to get the webcam working when i used it as a document class. When i changed my code so that the Free Transform Tool code is in document class and the webcam script is in Webcamactions.as file, i can't control the movieclips anymore...the movieclips (such as "imagecanvas" where i attach the video). My Mac's webcam light indicates that the function works, but the video doesn't appear in the movieclip.
I have an application which shows videos from users webcam. I want to know that is there any open source script or something in as3 which can save this video as mpeg or flv format.
Is there a way to automatically save an image from the webcam to a folder without having to click a button, or can you make the button take the image and save it to a folder as well, without a pop up saying "choose the folder to save to"?
I am trying to capture video from my webcam to a video display. I created a button on my main application and it gets my webcam just fine. When I try to use the same code inside a class I created it does not work. Does anyone know what could be the problem? Here is my code to capture the webcam.
I would like to know if it's possible for flash to stream it's webcam directly to another computer without a flash media server in the middle, I want to build a highly scalable video system which basically logs people into the site, records their ip address and then when someone wants to chat to that person, connect the output from the webcam to the input of the flash video player and vice versa. The idea being that they basically plug together, rather than a huge, expensive, bandwidth hungry server in the middle. Is it possible? I heard that flash can talk binary directly to sockets now, could this be a solution?
I want to imitate the webcam video record feature that yFrog has on it's site.I know I need a flash media server or a red5 one, but I want to know what flash app do they use and what is available on the net to record videos using the users webcam.
i am trying to layover a background picture (bitmap) a masked area of a captured (blurry circle) webcam and add some small bitmap graphics (little squares with text) to itactualy not that hard but i want save the whole thing as jpegso on the screen everything looks fine and i managed to save a jpeg with a masked capturevideo but without the background image included ;-(so can anybody tell me how to include the background image ?here is the code so farit generates a gradient mask for the captured video
We want to build an application that allows the user to record a video using their webcam on our site using flash and save the URL in a database using PHP. So that we can allow the user to send the video's to other users etc. Also we want to offer the user the possibility to upload their movies (per mail and with PHP) and convert them to flash movies, can this also be done using Flash media server? (maybe in combination with AMFPHP)
is there any sample on using array bitmapdata to record video from webcam and generate flash movieclip file? i want to record sound as well without using red5/flash streaming server
My organization normally provides customer support over e-mail and over the phone, but in particularly tricky situations we find we need to have an approximation of face-to-face communication. We're trying to find or build a software solution that we can integrate into our site. Our requirements are that:
