Developing a flash based image editing application and I want to be able to share and or save edited images to facebook.
Do I need to get a API Key to upload photos? What if I simply want to share a link with my friends? Do I still need an API key?

View 5 RepliesFirstly apologies for the length of this question, and for asking about the Facebook API (seemingly one of the most inconsistent API's in the world...). The Situation: We're producing an Facebook product 'community' - type page for our client, featuring standard Facebook tabs, one of which embeds a Flash game. At the end of this game we'd like to be able to share the users' final score via a wall post, and also invite friends to challenge the score.
Firstly - the client is insistent that the game appears on a tab within the page, so moving this all to an application (for example, apps.facebook.com) is sadly not an option. I'm aware you can embed an application on tab instead of static FMBL, but I have tried this and the result is essentially the same or fails (the tab imposes stringent restrictions on what can be rendered, enforcing the use of FBML and negating the FB:Iframe tag for starters).

I want to be able to share videos from my Wordpress site to Facebook using different video providers. I was able to use my own video player, but I'm not ready to post videos using my server and I prefer to have users post using a provider like youtube, vimeo, facebook, ect.. Right now my site has those kind of video players. I edit the meta tags several times, this is the one I currently have:

I also tested it using a single youtube video and it worked fine. But since I have other videos beside youtube I can't do it where it just gets a youtube id. Yesterday the posts without videos were showing up, but now when all posts gets share it shows up like if it was a video on my wall, so if clicked it will give an error. I been pulling my hair all week with this and still couldn't get it to work.
when I update my script, it takes so long for facebook to update the change. I have to wait for so long in order to test it again, like if facebook is holding it in cache for too long, is there a way to bypass that?

Both doesn't work, which puzzles me. The first one worked without encoding it in any way, so I don't get why it doesn't work when I try to just call it like that.
I've developed a Flash quiz app for facebook, which calls for a php script silently upon completion. The php script's function is to generate an image from the POST data sent by the flash, and then post it to the user's wall.That would be all neat and dandy, but for some reason the image never gets uploaded, probably because when i call it, it's like [URL] and the facebook SDK script inside gets an Oauth error, probably because it is not embedded in their canvas.
If I'd like to have my php script generate an image and upload it to the fb wall, then how should I call it from the flash?This is the AS2 code I'm using currently:

If I simply navigate to the php with my browser it giver me this:

If I view the same php through facebook canvas it works perfectly. My problem is: The canvas will show the flash and I want the php to silently be evaluated while the flash is running.
I'm looking for the simplest way to upload a photo from a gallery on my server (i.e. I have the url to the jpg) to Facebook. The project is built in as2, and for hte life of me I can not find a solution.
I was thinking I could use a php script to upload it to facebook, but all the examples I find online are broken or too old. I could post the url to the php script and then the php could handle the rest.
Im trying to create a button which will have a link to download a pdf to the users desktop - Im a new user, so I have picked up this code:

which doesn't work! I just put this in on assuming that flash would pick up the pdf on my desktop but it cannot open the pdf when you click on the link.
I'm using CURL to upload files to a service. Currently I'm getting the file content with $GLOBALS["HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA"] then save it on my server. After that, I'm using CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS with the file's full path. Is there a way to send the file content directly, without saving it on my server, as if I saved it? Or is there a way to upload a Photo from a flash app to facebook album, without saving it on the server?

I learned yesterday that you can't post a link within a wall post - ie the users feed, so I'm trying to post a like, but not having any luck.

View 5 RepliesI'm currently building an application using the Adobe Facebook API and I've run into an issue where for the login method the Facebook login popup displays but when doing a Facebook share/post the popup is blocked.
This code works fine and displays me a Facebook login popup without question (Firefox):

However, the following code running in the same application throws up a popup blocker (again Firefox):

I am new to flash and trying to find out how to link from one page on my flash site to another. My example is: I am constructing an accommodation site and have 3 pictures of 3 different rooms on my 'Rates' page. If a user clicks on one of the pictures, it should take them to the photo gallery page for that room so they can view all the photos for that one room. How do I link from a photo to a page in my gallery. I have got as far as turning the photo images into buttons. My gallery is all set up with the photos. I have looked at the URLRequest, but my flash site is not uploaded to a server and I don't know what the link would be to the gallery.

The documentation ([URL]) has more around WebSession - but the example I have which is closest to what solution I'm trying to implement uses JSSession and it looks like I could avoid all of the JavaScript pass-through & ExternalInterface calls I'm making. It appears that the benefit of using this new ActionScript Facebook API is to avoid having to make all of the Facebook calls via JavaScript.

Everything works fine, i.e. everything till it is time to fire the loggedin event. I get asked to log in and all permissions are asked correctly. After I log myself in to facebook, the loggedin event doesn't fire. Is there any way of solving this problem??

So I need to share this video on the user timeline. Everything works fine but the video is not embedded in the post on his timeline, there is only a post with the link to the page in it.The weird thing is, if I post the url directly on my timeline, the video is embedded, but not if the same link is posted via the application.here is my code called by the share button in js :

I've recently used the 'Static HTML' application to add autoplaying flash content to a Facebook Page.Nothing too fancy, no sound, and only a few secs long. Now, Facebook say:-"Apps on Pages must not host media that plays automatically without a user's interaction."
What do they mean by 'Media' exactly? I can understand a ban on autoplaying audio content but does the ban extend to something as harmless as an animated GIF? Or more to the point, does an autoplaying .swf file fall under this?
Lastly, what course of action would Facebook take if I did violate this rule? Would they issue a warning (giving me an opportunity to remove the 'offending' item) or would they just shut down my page without any consultation?
I can't find in the Adobe Facebook API how to log the user out of Facebook. The FacebookSessionUtil (and the related sessions and Facebook classes) all have a .logout() function, which will invalidate the user's current *session* within the swf, but it doesn't log the user out of Facebook.
What am I missing here? How are you supposed to log the user out of Facebook with this API? Since it's part of the TOS for Facebook Connect apps, you'd think this would be available in the API somewhere.
