If I was using java what I would do is I would create a new package: [url].....
And I would put this code in it:
public class xmlStuffTester {
public static void main(String [] args){
XmlStuff xs = new XmlStuff();[code]...
(Alternatly I would write a unit test if I knew exactly what the xml output should be. I don't know that yet so I prefer the above approach.)Question: What is the standard way to do this in Flex builder?
I've got some nice little animations developed in an Actionscript Project in Flex Developer 4. They work great. I now want to be able to make use of them in a Flex 4 project. How to do this ? I'm guessing must be a SWC in the process. So many hits from google that I can't filter out the correct approach
If I create a Flex Library project, am I able to use Flex classes from within the library?
The reason I ask is because I'm working in a Flex Library project and trying to use the mx.rpc.soap package. I can import the the package without an issue, and even get code hinting making me think the package is available. Of course I can even see the swcs included in the project. However, when I try to instantiate the WebService class, I get an error when building. Flash Buidler IDE doesn't tell me what the error is, and I don't go into debug mode when I continue with building. I haven't tried connecting to the service yet, just importing the Class and creating a new instance.
I have an actionscript project which uses visual symbols from an SWC. I have a CheckoutButton which has the following class associated with it (compiled into the SWC in Flash CS3).
I have a series of large fla files that were being published into swc's and then used directly in an flash project. Probably a total of 1000+ objects. As the number grows the final compiled swf is getting quite large so I want to download individual swf's of each object only as needed. I then need to be able to access and clone the object via classname from the final AS project.
The issue is the only way I have found to export each one is to 1) copy and paste it into a new fla file 2) double click to 'edit' it to force it included, 3) reset the linkage (class) name since it was wiped, 4) publish (i.e. file->publish) and name this swf. This will take quite a while for 1000+ of these.
While you can right-click on each item in the library to save it as a swf, it appears NOT to include the classname etc, just the item. Once I download this, I cannot clone to use it more then once without downloading it again which is unacceptable.
Is there a faster/better way to generate these swf's?
(I did look into xfl briefly but it looks like writing a script to do this given some of the unknowns there will take longer then just doing it by hand.)
I have set up a Flash Project to publish two FLAs simultaneously.However, when I click on "Test Project" I get the following error message:Quote:Cannot open a protected movie.However, when I publish each of these FLAs independently, I do not get the error message and the file publishes and runs with no problem.
I'm trying to make a simple test for my current project and I have som problems with Vector class. I'm assigning BitmapData to the MovieClip and store this MovieClip to an Array. Then I'm able to access BitmapData.If I do the same but use Vector instead of Array class, I get this error if I want to access BitmapData:1119: Access of possibly undefined property bitmapData through a reference with static type flash.displayDisplayObject.
Code: //var store:Array = new Array(); // - THIS ONE WORKS! var store:Vector.<MovieClip> = new <MovieClip>[]; var itemBitmap :Bitmap = new Bitmap(); itemBitmap.bitmapData = new BitmapData(100, 150, false, 0x990000);
I'm trying to test a custom Flex 4 skinnable component, using the FlexUnit UIImpersonator class. If I run my tests from a FlashBuilder Spark only project everything works fine. If I try to test from a project with the mx component set on the classpath I get a "getElementIndex not available in non Flex 4 projects" error.Can I unit test spark components in FlexUnits visual test environment while still having the mx component set on the classpath?
UIImpersonator delegates it's method calls to a "testEnvironment".The implementation used for this "testEnvironment" is decided by the VisualTest EnvironmentBuilder class and the FlexEnvironmentBuilder class. If the FlexEnvironmentBuilder class can find the "mx.core.Container" on the classpath it returns a MX environment, else a Spark environment. Only the spark environment has valid implementations for Flex 4 relevant method calls on the UIImpersonator - like the addElement method.
Whenever I start a new game, I make a whole bunch of classes that extend my base classes, so: URL...and has some setup code.Now all I need is a way to generate these classes at the start of the project so I don't have to create each one manually. It will save me at least an hour of faffing around per game. So how do I do it? I normally use FlashDevelop but I also have FlexBuilder 3, or I'm happy to download whatever other software I need (PC).
I have the source code for a Flash based media player written in Action Script 3 that I need to modify. I'm trying to add classes to this project in Flash CS3 however after I import them and try to reference the classes in an existing class within the original source I get the following error when I try to build:
1172: Definition 'classname' could not be found.
However the project builds fine if I don't reference any of the newly imported classes. What am I missing here?
In FlexUnit 1 it is possible to access the name of the currently-running test using the TestCase.getName() method because all tests subclass TestCase. In FlexUnit 4, however, there's no base class for tests; the tests are identified by annotations. So, how can I replicate the getName() functionality in FlexUnit 4?
I've gotten as far as getting a listbox with a list of articles to display the articles in a dynamic text box, only i can only get it to work if i use one huge external text file that contains all the articles. what i want is to have each item on the list open up its own external text file, i.e. for each item on the list, there exists a separate text file. I'm about ready to put my fist through the monitor, and that would suck because this is a really nice monitor
With parent artifactId of swf, swc, war set to swf, swc, test respectively.On executing mvn on test folder(for that matter clean or anything) I get this following error.
G:Projects est>mvn -e + Error stacktraces are turned on. [INFO] Scanning for projects... Downloading: http://repo1.maven.org/maven2/com/test/swc/1.0-snapshot/swc-1.0-snapshot.pom
[code]....
Looks like its trying to download the project from maven's central repository instead of building it.
I'm building Action Script project in Flash Builder. No flex, no third party libs. Pure actionscript - hierarchy of packages and classes. How do I include a plain external .as file, which is not a package or class, but just a set of statements?
I've recently started making a game in FlexBuilder. The game is currently a Flex project. Is there any downside to using Flex as opposed to just Actionscript? A friend of a friend told me that Flex is slower than an Actionscript project. I've been unable to validate this on the internet; is there any truth to that claim?
I have a CodeIgniter project and I made a back-office in Flex. I was wondering how I can implement the Flex project in my CodeIgniter since I'm working with routing I can't route to any directory. So there isn't a way to display the back-office.
I have 2 flex projects which were create in flash builder 4.5.....how can i call one project from second??? the best would execute to the same window.... I'm interesting about both possibility (in browser and air too).
I have one Eclipse Workspace containing two projects. - The first is my actual library. - The second is example code for using the library.When I push this code to GitHub, I don't want two separate projects, I want the example code to go into an "example" folder of the second library.How and where would I do this? From Eclipse, GIT, or GitHub?Or is there a better way of including sample code in GitHub projects? (the example code doesn't actually need any version control)
I have just implemented a dropdownlist of checkboxes taken from this ComboCheck example but made it extend DropDownList instead of ComboBox to provide better functionality that I required. I am attempting to create a DropDownList where some items are bold and non-checkboxes (or can be checkboxes) and others are not.
I have not been able to find anything online about doing this yet and have been trying to figure it out. I am currently using an ArrayCollection as a dataProvider but I think this could possibly be my issue and I should be trying to setup the labels in flex not AS3.[code]...
I have figured out a way to change the style of tabs at run time with following logic:
var cssStyle:CSSStyleDeclaration = StyleManager.getStyleDeclaration(".MyTabs"); cssStyle.setStyle("borderColor", "red");
But here ".MyTabs" class is applicable to all the tabs between first and last tab. As per getStyleDeclaration javadoc, it only accepts "class selector" and "type selector" not the id selector.
How can I change the individual tab style at run time?
I want to know if anyone can point me in the right direction for individually loading images (I think thats what is happening) in Flex 4.I saw this site and I like the way each individual picture gets loaded when a new category is opened and thought it would be very useful in our next project.
I am going to make an Arabic application using Flex builder 4.5. I have two questions that need to be answered What is the difference between ActionScript Mobile Project and Flex Mobile Project. (AS Mobile Project supports iOS and Android but I doubt about it!!) Is Arabic support available in Flex Mobile Projects or AS Mobile Projects? I know TLF supports Desktop and web apps but does it support mobile platforms?
I have Flex 4 DataGrid, what I would like to do is when an cell has been edited, I would then like to walk through the values of that column and preform math on the values, e.g., I want to total up certain values.
1) How do I reference individual values of a specific column so that I may set them. 2) How do I then set those values or should I create a new column array and pop it in place of that column.
