ActionScript 3.0 :: Case Statement -- Mouse Position?

Feb 20, 2009

I've got a slider on my navigation bar that rides along with the mouse; movies play perpendicular to it as I scroll. If I click on the movie, I link out to another page (easy enough). However, the actual slider doesn't do anything more than look nice. I know that if I don't make this thing child proof, I'm going to catch grief about it. So I tried to set up a switch that links out according to range values y<0 && y>125. As it stands, I don't get any errors, it just always goes to default. I'm missing something.I could always try a gia-normous 'if' statement, but I thought that I'd give the switch a try.

Actionscript 3 :: IPhone Packager AS3 Failing To Convert Switch Case Statement

Sep 22, 2010

I've been creating an application using the Adobe AIR Packager for iPhone (command line style).The app consists of a lot of screens that provide various information, and the navigation is handled all in the document class via an event-triggered function that uses a large switch-case statement to determine what screen to go to.

When we compiled it through the iPhone Packager and tried to test it on one of our phones, it would load up to a blank screen.

After some error testing it was revealed that the switch-case itself is causing a problem (changing it to an if-else that had the same functionality worked just fine). Does anyone know whether this is a known issue, or if something can be done to fix that other than converting it to an if-else.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Different Between Instanceof And __proto__?

Jan 30, 2010

while trying oop the inheritance and not the composition way I tried two different ways to find out whether an object ( lets say circleclip1 which is a Movieclip in library with an identifier provided )formed from a class (lets say circleDemo)which extends MovieClip is truly an instance of that class.

I use the trace(circleclip1.__proto__==circleDemo.prototype) to check the same it outputs true in the trace window as it should.but when I use the instanceof operator it would return true no matter whichever ancestor I use to check it against the object instance..eg

trace(circleclip1 instanceof circleDemo);// yields "true"
trace(circleclip1 instanceof MovieClip);// checking against Movieclip yields "true"
trace(circleclip1 instanceof Object);// checking against top level Object yields "true"

Now my question is why does this instanceof operator return true for any ancestor up the inheritance chain uptill the top level object.while when I use

trace(circleclip1.__proto__==MovieClip.prototype);// yields "false"

so the verification implies circleclip1 is not directly an instance of MovieClip since it has been subclassed through circleDemo hence the output false.how would I test whether in as3.0 circleclip1 is truly an instance of circleDemo.because instanceof operator keeps yielding the same result as as2.0 and frustratingly enough that __proto__ property of any object is not around any more in as3.0.

I have attached two .zip files of as2.0 and as3.0 version containing the demonstration of the problem queried above respectively, as printing all the lines from those files here in this post would clutter up the area.

Actionscript 3 :: Instanceof For Dynamic Interface?

Mar 8, 2010

interface If { ... }
class Impl implements If { ... }
function test(type:Class, obj) {
return obj instanceof type;
}
test(If, new Impl());

The call to test on the last line returns false, but it should be true. How can I do this check right, with the requirement that it must be inside the function?

Real code:

public function iterate(callback:Function, type:Class = null) {
for (var node:EntityListNode = beginNode; node != null; node = node.next) {
if (type == null || node.entity instanceof type) callback(node.entity);
}

ActionScript 2.0 :: Loading Data From XMl File And Uses It To Run An If Statement. If Statement Fails?

Oct 10, 2008

The Flash movie contains 2 Text files, one Component button, and 1 component checkbox.The purpose of the application is to load an XML file(works)Populate 2 text fields with information from the XML file(works)Compare the two text fields, if they contain the same information then the checkbox, via AS is told to be selected. (Heres the problem);

Heres the code:

Code:
runCode_btn.onPress = function() {
data_xml = new XML();
data_xml.ignoreWhite = true;
data_xml.onLoad = function(success) {

[code]....

The idea behind this app is that its an electronic form. The user fills it out, the information is then sent to a newly created XML file, months later the open the XML file in flash, and Flash fills out text fields and check and or unchecks Checkboxes based on the XML data.CheckBoxes are mandatory.But I don't see how I'll be able to use them if i can't create and condition statements based on the loaded Data.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Use A For Statement To Create An If Statement

Jul 12, 2010

what I'm trying to do is create an else if argument for each object in an array based on a user set number

Code:
for(var i:int=0; i < numberOfElseIfs; i++){
GENERATE AS3 CODE
}

to which I want it to GENERATE THE FOLLOWING CODE:

Code:
}else if(baskets[i].used == false){
baskets[i].used = true;
drawButton(i);
}

the problem is obviously that the compiler reads this code rather than understanding I'm trying to regenerate the code within the for loop...does that make sense :S? So basically I need as3 to read the code between the for statement as if it is going to echo that out later. Is this even possible?
