Here is the background. I am creating a Flash game, and I have a text box I am using to display text when the shooter misses the enemy. I would like to have the graphic pop up in the text box rather than the formatted text.

I've a CD presentation using flash and XML. The CD includes a search facility. The search and rest of the things are ok but the problem that the result comes along with the picture that is reading from XML file. Sometimes the result contains more that one person's details with photographs. So scrolling the content area is necessary. I've tried to display both, the pciture and result (text) but the scroll bar component doesn't support picture. <img> tag i've tried but no result. Is there any other option for display the image and text withing a scrolling area.

I want to know how(and what scripts) to take words from a text input box and cause it to display and image Ex: if the text box said "smiley face" in it, then the image "smiley_face.jpg" would display on a certain movieclip and can be dragged around the stage and when a new image is loaded, it doesn't replace the previous image on the movie clip.

View 4 Repliesi created an image fade animation on the timeline... no actionscript involved.... now i want a series of text to slide up to the bottom of each image as the image fades in and out...if the image ia on image1, then text1 is displayed, before its gets to image2... text1 should be off..and image1 fades in image2...then text2 is displayed describing each image.. and so on...

i want to rotate 3D an Image called img1 in Flex. I want to rotate it around y axis 180 degree. I can do this by using 3D effect already built in Flex but i want to do a bit more different. I want during rotating, there's another image called img2 appear on back of img1 (in default case, the image appear on the back is img1) and when rotating finish, the image will be img2.

I've got an amfphp returning a resultset from a db which contains too much info and doesn't correspond with my datagrid so I'm trying to copy out whats needed to a ResultCollection (if it all looks a bit mad then it's because I'm new to this and still finding my way around).
Debug tells me there actually is data in the ResultCollection but I'm really struggling to find out why it wont display and will be really. I've searched the web for AS 3 examples of coding a datagrid - all pointers welcomed.

I am trying to display content of xmllistcollection in different fields in my datagrid however unless I use an itemrenderer the value is not displaying in the grid. The xmllistcollection is populated from a webservice call. Inside my item renderer i use a custom namesspace to retrieve contents from the xmllistcollection

However if I try something like

In the datagrid without using an item renderer I get no data output.

I have a number of thumbnail images (8K ish in length), stored in a sqlite database, encoded as base64 strings.
I would like to retrieve these images and present them into a datagrid (along with some other information from the DB)
The retrieval of information from the database works, but I cannot quite "see" how to connect the decoded result from the database to the datagrid, to display the images.

I am able to calculate the total, and tried displaying them on labels below each column by giving width as column width. I am trying to display a list of items in a datagrid from a XMLList.

My current code allows me to retrieve every Series into an XMLList and then i have a nesteddatagrid class that allows me to do things like.

However this displays the datagrid with two rows, the first row has 1 in the Series column and then the two files crammed into the second cell in the same row. The second row is the same but has the number 2 in the Series column and the two series #2 files crammed into the cell next to it.If i do not use the nested data class i can pull the files using Series.file instead and all 4 of the files list correctly, however i do not get the Series number for each...
On my flex (flash builder 4) DataGrid - DataGridColumn , I have set a custom itemRenderer

My renderer is a Label

I found that my tooltips (datatips) stopped working once I started using this custom renderer. I also found that I can set the tooltip on the label in the
override protected function updateDisplayList
by setting:
toolTip=data['addedDate'];
This works find, however the problem is I need to choose a different data field based on the column. I was hoping for something similar to how a DataGridColumn labelFunction works - where I have access to "column.headerText" or "column.dataField". However I only have access to the underlying data object, not the name of what is being displayed (unless I am missing something).
Is there a way in a data grid item renderer to know what the column header text is, or do you have a different approach?
I am trying to format my datagrid column to display the decimal value of the price of the item they have chosen to (2) decimal places. Currently the datagrid is displaying $10 instead of $10.00 & $10.4 for $10.40?

For one of the columns, I'm using an AdvancedDataGridRendererProvider to conditionally display an image if certain conditions are met. I'm currently using the ToolTipManager to display additional information if the user mouses over the image.Here's what I would like to do:Instead of showing the toolTip when the user places their mouse over the image, I would like to automatically display the toolTip whenever the image is visible in the AdvancedDataGrid. If the user scrolls through the AdvancedDataGrid, the toolTip should move and follow along with its image accordingly.

I have a datagrid that loads content from a database. Once the data has been loaded I have a function that has
selectedIndex=0;
Right after that I call another function that tries to display the selected item across a couple of labels. The problem is nothing loads in the labels unless I run the functions twice. I'm guessing its some sort of data race problem where the item hasn't been selected by the time the function that displays the items in labels runs. How can I get the item to be selected before the next function runs.
