Sep 3, 2009In a tab navigator, I need to find out the x and y coordinates of each the tabs. Is there a way to do that? I am using HBox as Tab in the TabNavigator.

Feb 11, 2011I have been working on Flash AS3 project. I am designing a 3D system. Consider a MovieClip A which is at (0,0,0). A contains B which is at (10,10,10). If I rotate A by 10 degrees then the position of B with respect to A remains the same but position of B with respect to the system changes. To find Global X and Y of B, we have the function localToGlobal but it does not tell anything about the Z property. How to find that?

Dec 19, 2011I was trying to convert global coordinates to local coordinates of a UIComplenent in my flex project using below code using below code
var gp:Point = new Point(e.stageX,e.stageY); //global point
var lp:Point = uic.globalToLocal(gp); //local point
uic is UIComponent in which I have subclass of Sprite for drawing something I have set the sprite's mouseEnabled and mouseChildren to false to not interrupt the mouse event. above code is within uic's mousemove event where I was tracing the gp and lp gp was giving correct value and suprisingly lp was giving negetive values. when I move the move to the top left corner of uic i expect lp to be 0,0 but it is giving the -width of of uic. I broke my head for hours and ended up finding an alternate by using offsets. Infact my original code was much simpler like this which was same issue
var lp:Point = new Point(e.localX,e.localY);
I am not sure what exactly is causing this problem. the workaround had lot of issues and it creating a mess in my rest of the algorithms.Just now I found even more interesting thing (which is actually weird). for some reason I went and create a new lp2
var lp2:Point = new Point(e.localX,e.localY);
now surprisingly it was giving correct values as expected and I went back and changed the code as
var gp:Point = new Point(e.stageX,e.stageY); //global point
var lp:Point = uic.globalToLocal(gp); //local point
var lp2:Point = new Point(e.localX,e.localY);
var lp2:Point = uic.globalToLocal(gp);
now it is expected to have all the lp, lp2 and lp3 variables to be same but weiredly lp two is giving wrong value and lp2 and lp3 were giving correct. I am suspecting using the variable lp has something to do. I am not sure about that but above proves it so right now I am using lp2.

I understand that it converts 3d coordinates to 2d coordinates, but I don't understand how. What numbers whould be punched into x, y, and z to acquire certain desired effects?Also, what's the difference between moveTo and lineTo:

I have seen many (dozens) of these problems, but none seem to help. On firefox, it openes in a new tab, (I have it set so windows open in new tabs), on IE it opens in a new window, and in chrome it opens in a new tab. Please help me fix this problem,

May 23, 2010I am fairly new to flash and I have started to attempt to modify a template that I found online to make it my own. The thing that I am having problems with is the URL Links. There are 5 different clickable tabs on the header that I have, and when you edit it in flash cs4, each one is the same image when you edit it. The only way in which you can change what each one of them says is by editing them in the library. This isn't the problem. I want to link these tabs to different pages on my website. When I edit one of them, all of them change to the same url link. The file is too large for me to upload I think.

Jun 14, 2009I can't really understand how can Adobe let the developers release such a messy embedded Flash editor. Please, fix the line copying, it drives me mad. In every normal editor, when u get to the start of the line and press shift+downarrow, the whole line is selected. Flash selects the tabs in the next line also. So pasting is a horrible nightmare.

Sep 21, 2011I'm trying to maintain a web applications state across multiple tabs whilst using ActionScript, JavaScript, and PHP. Should I use AJAX to update the database after an item has been purchased etc, or should I prevent the game being loaded if it's already open in a single tab (if so how could I achieve this)?
I'm building a facebook game, when the user buys an item and has many open tabs it doesn't update the state in the other open tabs. The buying of an item is handled by ActionScript, and the storage of that item is dealt with using PHP.
Flex4 - Vertical Tabs In Flex 4?
Oct 21, 2011I would like to have vertical tabs in Flex 4. I have started implementing this by having a vertical list down one side. On list selection I am updating the selection index of a view stack. This gives the functionality of vertical tabs.
My problem is the look and feel. How do I get the list to have a similar look and feel to the horizontal tab bar? Is it a case of overriding skins? I have found this post: Flex 4 vertical TabBar

Jun 2, 2005I am having a problem and hope someone can help. I've created two mc's. One called "mcSkinned" and the other called "mcSkeleton". Each of these mc's has an mc inside of it that acts as the tab (so when the tab is clicked, the focus changes for either mcSkinned or mcSkeleton). The names of the tab mc's are:
mcSkeletonTabBackground
mcSkinnedTabBackground
So this means that mcSkeleton has mcSkeletonTabBackground in it and mcSkinned has mcSkinnedTabBackground in it.I've placed each main mc (mcSkinned and mcSkeleton) on the main scene and added the following code to an "Actions" layer on the timeline:

mcSkeleton.swapDepths(this.mcSkinned);
};

Apr 6, 2010Just learning Flash CS4 and I can't believe you can't create or set tabs in a text object.You can set tabs for editing actionscript, but not in a text object. Are you kidding me? Even wordpad can do this.
