View 1 RepliesJust learning Flash CS4 and I can't believe you can't create or set tabs in a text object.You can set tabs for editing actionscript, but not in a text object. Are you kidding me? Even wordpad can do this.
View 5 RepliesI have use flash sparingly in the past. I am well versed in computers, but we can flash, very weak. Let's say this I do know how to get into Flash. This is the address for what I'm trying to accomplish. You can see the navigation in the upper left corner [URL].
I am trying to develop a menu tree that has these basic functions:
1. No heavy graphics - basically the information is more textbased.
2. The menu tree works within two tabs.
3. The menu tree using rollovers.
a. The rollovers display a graphic image or text in a "TV" box, display, underneath the actual menu tree.
"Master Swap Action" - there is also a horizontal tab selection available. The master display, largest display area, is changed based on the "Master Swap Action". Also, the menu tree is swapped out. The two areas that are swapped out correspondent to the tab's that were selected. Here is a small sample of how we control the Menu currently. It uses a language called iMint.

I created a motion preset of a 3D text animation that made the text swing back and forth like a gate with the hinge on the far left side. However, when I apply the motion preset to other text, the text moves to a new location and the text swings closer to the center than the far left side. Moving the text only creates a travel path that further complicates matters.
what am I doing wrong with the motion preset? How can I save something into a preset and apply it to other things and have the animation work the way it was designed?
i would like to have a dynamic text that loads text from a *.txt file. This i know how is done, but the problem appears when i want the text-field to roll over the screen, as a motion tween. To be more specific it must be used for an infoboard, and people shold be able to change the "guests_today.txt" and then the guest list should roll over the display, over and over again.
View 1 Repliesdo a simple fade in of text with a motion tween. I have entered text, converted to graphic symbol, set alpha channel on frame 1 to 0% and on frame 30 to 100%, the add motion tween. The text simply pops back in at frame 30 with no fade in between 0 and 30 at all. I have text set as static. Is this a Flash bug? I am working with Flash CS3. The same thing happened when I tried to do a zoom with a graphic and I had to break the two objects apart before I got any motion tween between them. This is not working with text, however. View 2 RepliesI have been searching far and wide for a solution on how to offer slow motion and fast motion options for users that upload video to my webstie. There is an implementation on Google Video that has exactly what I am looking for: the option to speed up or slow down the video and continue to play the audio. The screenshot is below. I know that Flowplayer has an option to slow down or speed up video when implemented with Wowza server. However, when using that approach, there is no sound.
I have also seen the option from Enounce called MySpeed that allows video to be slowed or quickened, but this requires a browser plugin which is too much of a barrier for our users. How does Google do it? How can you add an option to a flash player to slow down or speed up video?Here is a screen shot. You can see the option to change the speed of the video to 1.5x. It also has options to go to 0.5x, 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x, 2.0x, 2.5x, and 3.0x.
I am trying to create a new webpage using flash CS5. I imported the page that I created in photoshop. Now the background is flashing, the only thing that I have set to have motion is one section of text.
View 5 RepliesIf I put any text letter of any size at the top of the stage, lets say for example a "T" of 10 pts. Then move the timeline to frame 50 and insert a keyframe and then move that "T" down to the bottom of the stage and resize it to say 50 pts. (I want the effect of the letter growing as it moves down the stage).If I then isert a Motion Tween and scrub it the letter just stays at 10 pt until the keyframe at 50is hit and then it resizes to 50. Not the effect I am looking for.But if I use the classic tween then it does do what I want which is gradually grow from 10 pts to 50 pts by the bottom of the stage.

the problem is that in the movie (800px wide) the text should go from right to left in about 7 seconds (so it have to go about 400px to the left in 7 sec).
i created a motion-tween with ease for my "text" and the tween is long (at 30fps) 30*7=210 frames.
the result is that the text DON'T MOVE FLUID... it's not a uniform movement... it's too visible the fact that it moves X pixel each x frames. it's the exact opposite of SMOOTH MOVEMENT.
How can i obtain a smooth slow-motion text movement?
So this .swf is so display Contact Us information loaded externally from a .txt and will automatically refreshed when the source file is edited. Used to work but then it automatically changed fonts (for some reason) and then refused to show the text. I put traces at the end of the tween, on rollOver, on rollOut and on the URLRequest and everything is coming back positive. There are no debug errors either..
This is a strange glitch..

If you click the scroller in this .fla I've attached the text jumps away at first. The jump increases when you increase the [x]*dydrag function in value. I want the text to follow the inverse motion of the scroller very smoothly.
View 1 RepliesI would like to create a polygon that changes its shape (circle, trapezium, square, rectangle, triangle) based on specific buttons that the user clicks? An existing shape has to be able to morph into all the others. For instance, the trapezium has to morph to a square, circle, rectangle or triangle.
If I were to create each transition manually, I would end up with 5x4=20 scenes. Is there a way that I can just assign each shape to its own frame, and deploy actionscript to set in motion the transitions from one frame to the 4 other possible frames? I am very grateful to anyone to just point me in the right direction,
I am new to flash but I have used motion tween before with Flash CS3. Now I need a text to decrease size and modify alpha so I wrote the text (one word), converted it to symbol (movie clip), create 2 key-frames (larger size, alpha 30% -> small size, alpha 100%) and "create motion tween" between. But it doesn't work i don't know why! This time I use Flash CS4 and I was wondering if there are some presets or something that I don't know. The arrow that suppose to appear between the frames doesn't ..only the frames change color.

It will work the first time and for the second text on the frame it won't work. What are the requirements of a motion tween when it comes to text on a single layer in the same frame.

Now, _top, _self, I can't get anything to work for what I want to do. What I'm trying to do is make it so when I click a link, it opens it in the SAME tab. I have seen many (dozens) of these problems, but none seem to help. On firefox, it openes in a new tab, (I have it set so windows open in new tabs), on IE it opens in a new window, and in chrome it opens in a new tab. Please help me fix this problem,

View 2 Repliesim writing AS3 under linux and as such do not have access to ANY of the fl.* packages, including tweens, motions, special animations and components. I can only use Math.* and XY Grid Coordinates to calculate motion manually.
I can make movement of sprites fairly easily on a coordinate system, but this restricts how the path can go. Usualy only an up,down,left,right movements for the simplest math. I suppose this could be expanded to move in more varied directions but its not quite what im looking for.
I would like to be able to draw an invisible line that a shape can follow. Then it can have curves or bends in it without problem. I want to then start the sprite at the 1st pixel of the line and set its next coorinate based on where the line is at, but at 10px down it (and so on) till it reaches the end of the line. Is it possible because I cant think of a way? Are there any other good PureAs3 motion tutorials around?
I am fairly new to flash and I have started to attempt to modify a template that I found online to make it my own. The thing that I am having problems with is the URL Links. There are 5 different clickable tabs on the header that I have, and when you edit it in flash cs4, each one is the same image when you edit it. The only way in which you can change what each one of them says is by editing them in the library. This isn't the problem. I want to link these tabs to different pages on my website. When I edit one of them, all of them change to the same url link. The file is too large for me to upload I think.
View 4 RepliesI can't really understand how can Adobe let the developers release such a messy embedded Flash editor. Please, fix the line copying, it drives me mad. In every normal editor, when u get to the start of the line and press shift+downarrow, the whole line is selected. Flash selects the tabs in the next line also. So pasting is a horrible nightmare.

Im loading tabs for an accordion control at runtime. The number of tabs is determined by the role of the user. Each tab comes from a module so the load time is variable. As a result the list order changes every time the app is run.Is there a practical way to sort the tabs as each new tab is loaded?
