But on click of the main container I need to maximize that and need to display the components in horizontal. Jun 7, 2011I have a VBox with fixed width and height, and I add image objects with fixed width and height. I find that if my objects' height exceed the VBox's height, it doesn't show the object. I tried validateNow(), but it doesn't work. The object is added, but VBox just doesn't display it, so it leaves a blank with a same height as my other object.

The toString method gives me the class of the object, but what I'd really like to determine is the superclass of the object. So, if I have an Actionscript class called "Fruit" and I created many different Fruit types in the Flash library ("Cherry", "Apple", etc.), is there a way in code I can determine that an "Apple" is a child of "Fruit"?

Flash :: Can't Autoscroll A VBox Unless Height Is Explicity Set?
Jul 10, 2009I have a VBox who dynamically adds and removes children programatically. The height is set to 100% and verticalScrollPolicy=auto.When a user wants to add another child to that Vbox, I want it to autoscroll to the bottom of the VBox since that is where the child is added.
I've tried every solution I could find online, but no matter what, the verticalScrollPosition and maxVerticalScrollPosition are both ALWAYS equal to 0. Even if I manually scroll to the bottom of the VBox and press a button that alerts these numbers.(Even after 'validateNow()' as well).
The only time I can get these numbers to change programmaticaly is when the VBox height is set in pixels, which I don't want since the children all have varying heights.Plllease tell me that it's possible to set verticalScrollPosition without hard coding the height in pixels? Am I missing something totally obvious here?

Feb 17, 2011I am importing multiple class instances into my document class. They are buttons that I want to load larger images when clicked. The problem I have is that I don't know how to tell class instance was clicked to load the appropriate larger image.

I worked with trying to assign myProj.name but I understand in AS3 that isn't the best way to go about this. I also worked with trying to populate an array but I wasn't sure how to get the addEventListener to work when one of the class instances in the array was clicked.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Finding A Simple Scrolling Thumbnail Class?
Jan 29, 2009I am looking for a simple scrolling thumbnail class written in AS2. Does anyone know of any tutorials or code samples anywhere? I can't seem to locate one. I have written one but I have a problem. My thumbnails are 100px x 100px. When I have more than like 36 (can't remember the exact number), my mask (which masks a bit on the left and the right side of the horizontal thumbnail scroller) no longer works. I found out that there is a max pic size for flash so I'm assuming that I am exceeding that max pic size which causes the mask to not work when I breach that size.

The second level HBox is initially hidden.When I click the label, 'Show more Options', the second level HBox is displayed.Now I have the space occupied by the 'second level HBOx' empty and the 'search' button appaers below the space.My first question is, Is there a way to position the Search Button in such a way that, the space is not there and after the 'Show more Options' label is clicked, the 'Second Level HBox' appears?And the second question is, Can I position the Search Button at the center of the page.
