Actionscript 3 ::flex - Set TruncateToFit Option To True In The Tree?

I am trying to customise the truncateToFit option in my Custom Tree. In order to do that i have to render a LABEL into my tree as the tree is not having the TruncateToFit property. I am begineer to flex, and i surfed a lot to see how they have rendered label inside a tree but i dint find any solution.Is my prediction right ? If it is right then how to render a label inside a tree component ?

I have a tree component sitting in a divided box. I want to display '...' on the node labels if the divided box is resized. I have a custom itemrenderer and have been looking at the labelFunction property as well as trying various approaches in the custom itemrenderer. Not having any joy.

I am having this problem using the dataGrid in flex. I have a Label in one of the columns of the datagrid, and the label has the truncateToFit property True. But it is not working.
At first I had a static width to Label, and it works in that case. But the problem using that is, when I change the wide of the column, in the output, it does not changes the width of label, and if I make the column width small, the label wont get truncated.
Using 100% width for the label, does not helps either.
My datagrid code looks like below given code:

I'm trying to make a Flex Tree Component display the children of a sprite in a hierarchical way. Moreover, dragging the items on the FlexTree would resort and reparent the items. I have special Elements set as Folders. This would allow other elements to be added there as a children by dragging an element on the tree and dropping it there. I have a failed attempt which works, but breaks when I try to add folders. Basically, it fails at reparenting the items by dragging and resorting folders and that Does anyone know of a component or something which can do this, has anyone have created any of this or could anyone give me a clue?

I have a intro to a picture of a tree which has buttons on it. The intro is an embedded flv video (not using the FLV component). The video starts on frame one and runs to frame 2. The tree is on frame 3.When I click a button on the tree, it runs the respective frames then returns to the tree. When the tree appears, the sound of the video is playing in the background.How can I make this stop?

so mouseOver and RollOver, and their respective outs work great as long as your mouse is actually over the item, or one of it's children. My problem is that I may have another UI component "between" my mouse and the item I want to process the mouse/rollover(maybe a button that is on top of a canvas, but is not a child of the canvas). The mouse is still over the component, there's just something else that it's over at the same time.
Here is a simplified code example detailing my question copy/paste that into your flex/flash builder and you'll see what I mean:Edit, I just made this more complicated and true to my actual problem, drag slowly, if you move your mouse further than the button in a single frame it kinda breaks, but that is just in this simplified version

I have a tree with nodes , and a delete button , first user select the node and click this delete button , I want this node to be removed from the tree , Its not XML , every node in tree is of type Object

I tried delete myTree.selectedItem (but compiler wont let me do it) also tried myTree.selectedItem = null (just unselects the item)and also how can I access reference to parent object of myTree.selectedItem ?

I am currently developing a dynamic LineChart in FLEX 4.I am implementing a Tree control next to my LineChart, which will filter the LineChart dataprovider and lineseries. The tree control has several branches and ultimately 5 children (leaf nodes) at the bottom of the last branch.I need the leaf node/children to be displayed as checkboxes inside the tree control.As I understand,this will require overrides in the TreeItemRenderer class.This is where I am a little confused on how to implement that.Currently I can distinguish between leaf and branches using this code, in my main MXML component.I added this because it may be helpful to some beginning FLEXdevelopers, such as myself, who cannot easily find this functionality documented well:

I am looking at the TreeItemRenderer override class from the following example here: In the example, they override the "createChildden" super function to add checkboxes to the tree control.My question is, can I override the createChildren function directly in my MXML component, and not have to use an entire class file to override this functionality? Must I re-invent the wheel to do this?Also, how can I distinguish that my treeItem is a leaf node and not a parent, in the override function? I only want to add checkboxes to the leaf nodes, how can I differentiate? The following example adds checkboxes to all branches and leaf nodes, but I want to add checkboxes only to leaf node/children. How would you approach that?

I want to extend DropDownList control to include an option for creating or editing the options. For example; for a list of projects in the dropdown list, there will be another option that says "Create new project..." or "Edit projects..." and this will be the last option in the list. When user selects this option, the selectedIndex or selectedItem will not change and corresponding action will be taken (for example a popup window shows up).This will be a convenient way for the end user. Now I want this to work independent of the context and the class must be reusable. User will only specify the optionText and optionFunction to work this out. Anyone know how to change a single instance of an item renderer for a Flex tree item at runtime? To reiterate, I'm not trying to change the entire tree's item renderer like this:tree.itemRenderer = new ClassFactory(ItemRenderer2);I'm trying to change the item renderer of a single tree item like this (the following code does not work):tree.selectedItem.itemRenderer = new ClassFactory(ItemRenderer2);To put it more simply, does anyone know how to reference an instance of an item renderer and set it to a new item renderer class? I have the following situation: have a screen with 4 charts, each being populated with 59 array collections. Each array collection has 2000+ data points. This construct needs to be filtered(by time), but the problem I'm encountering is the fact that it takes a long time for the filtering to finish (which is to expected given the amount of data points that need to filtered).
Filtering one chart at a time is not option, so I wanted to ask you what do you think would be the best approach? (should I use vector instead?). To generalize this question what would be the best way to filter large collections in flex/as3?

How do you make the childAllowsParent property of an SwfLoader go from false to true, that is, how as a parent application do you set up security to make the child app's events and other properties accessible to you. To read the flex docs on this, one would think nothing could be simpler:
"This property [childAllowsParent] is set to true if the child object has called the allowDomain() method to grant permission to the parent domain or if a URL policy is loaded at the child domain that grants permission to the parent domain. If child and parent are in the same domain, this property is set to true . [emphasis added]" So, I'm in a development environment and want to load an swf from my own system via an SWFLoader and then be able to monitor its events within the parent app.

I am receiving xml from a webservice call that contains a nil="true":[code]I used the Flex DataService (webservice) wizard to create the service objects for the cacheEntry component. This object will be serialized later on a different webservice call and stored in a database.I set a breakpoint on the set SystemFK method in the service object. It appears that the value passed in was an empty string!Allowing this value to be an empty string will cause problems in the webservice implementation in Java on the other side. Since the database value was null it is expecting a null in return, If I avoid setting this value, the serviceObject should send back a null which will make the database happy.How can I detect that a nil = true is present in the XML in order to avoid setting this value?
