Actionscript 3 :: Setting Source Of An Image Component Not Working?
Dec 10, 2011
I'm pulling in a xml-file with just one result in it. One of the nodes is picture, which contains a link to a picture. This is the xml-file:
<artist>
<id>502</id>
<name>Bad Religion</name>
[Code]....
I've tested the url, and it's correct. This is how I try to bind the url to the image instance (artistPic), but it's not working. Displaying the artist name does work.
var artist:XMLList = new XMLList(event.result);
artistPic.source = artist.picture;
lblArtistName.text = artist.name;
I have a question about setting up an image array from an external source. I have the following action script and would like to edit it so that it reads from an external file. Either TXT or XML. how to edit the array action.
I had to add the cuepoints after setting the source.Iam trying to use cuePoints on a flvPlayer component but it wont work for me.I have a flvPlayer 2.5 in my timeline (vid_mc) and this code:[code]
I have an FLV player on the stage.I'm setting the source (flvplayer.source) as a variable. When the proper file is in the right location it plays perfectly. I'm trying to set up an error report that is generated when the source FLV isn't there. So far I have:
I have a mobile application that has a Text Input used for searching. Below the search TextInput is a StageWebView. When I set the source of the StageWebView using loadURL() the key input is shifted to the StageWebView. How can I prevent this?
I am having some trouble setting relative package source path in the ActionScript Settings Flash CS4.Below is the folder structure on my computer.[code]The only way it will work is with an absolute path like /Users/ jenrosamond/Desktop/Tri-Template/classes.This project is getting moved around to several different machines though, so that absolute path isn't going to work.
I've got a number of related projects set up in Flash Builder. Each project gets its graphical assets from an exported SWC file (or multiple SWC files.) This works fine, but I wanted to create a shared project that contains stuff used across all projects. The first item in there is a screen with a number of clips containing dynamic text fields on them. This screen (and associated assets) are exported to a SWC and then I have written code in the shared project to add functionality to the screen and buttons. I'm using 2 fonts, both are embedded.
Both show up just fine in my test harness, but when I link the shared SWC and src folder (which is required in order to use this code/assets in the other projects) the textfields blank out if I try to set their text properties. If I leave the default text (set in the FLA) it shows up, and the static text fields in the FLA also show up, it's only when I set the text property.
I've tried a number of combinations, including removing embedding, exporting for ActionScript, setting all textfields in the shared project to dynamic, all with no luck. The main project does have the same font embedded, and I've checked that the same glyphs are selected in both the main and shared projects. I realize this is a rather complicated setup, but I have yet to find a workflow to allow a designer and developer to work on large projects that is better (but I'd love to hear one!)
I am changing image through flex every time i change it saved into server directory with same name(which i am referring to show). So when i refresh my page my browser didn't send new request to server since it's already in request.so didn't getting new image.Tip:- when i clear browser history it will come with new image
Does Adobe had releases the source code for the components that comes with Flash CS4 (fl.controls.*). If not, is there any way to use the Flash component library with another IDE like FlashDevelop for code and compile the flash applications.
I am putting together a presentation on flex for adobe user group that specialize in coldfusion. In my example I would like to display the text of the cfc being called from the webservice tag in my flex application. Is there a simple way to load the actual text for the cfc instead of the html that coldfusion is passing back to my URLloader variable?
I'm using the same FLVPlayback component to play many page transition videos throughout a large flash site I'm building. On each transition, I'm setting the component's source using myFLVPlayback.source and listening for the fl.video.VideoEvent.READY event before proceeding with each page transition. This works fine as long as the transition between every pair of pages uses a different video.
Unfortunately, I'm running into a problem when the same page-to-page transition video needs to get invoked for two consecutive transitions. When playing the same video twice in a row, setting the source property of the component to the value it already has doesn't seem to do anything, meaning that my listeners for fl.video.VideoEvent.READY never fire. I could do something hackish like setting the source to a tiny, never-used-elsewhere FLV before setting it to the FLV that I'm actually using for the transition as a means of "resetting" the component, but I'd like to know what best practices are in a situation like this (insofar as best practices with something like the FLVPlaybackComponent can be discussed with a straight face).
I've perused the livedocs for the component but came up empty-handed, and manually using NetStream, NetConnection, and Video objects at this late stage isn't really an option.
I'm trying to learn more about flash, and have found a couple of useful sites.However, I'm having trouble working out how to use their source files, and wondered if anyone here might be able to help please.url...I can't work out how to compile it - I know I need the Five3D files (url...), but even when I download that, and then create a .fla file in the same directory, nothing happens.I am probably missing something very obvious, but I can't work out what to do.There is a .fla file, but there is NOTHING in there that links to the .as file - there is no ActionScript at all I can see if the FLA file, that links to the .as file.
I have a component where I expose the property 'questions' with the following code:
private var _questions:ArrayCollection; private var questionsChanged:Boolean; [Bindable("questionsChanged")]
[Code]....
In this component, I use commitProperties() to implement my logic.
I use Cairngorm and the 'questions' is in the model and hence it's defined as a source for data binding.
When the 'questions' ArrayCollection's size changes elsewhere in the application, it is not invoking the setter method in the component that is destination for the data binding.
How do I set/access the "Text File" variable as shown in the two pictures. _root and _global don't work.I also tried to access it from _root.CrosswordPuzzle.cp_words_textfile.I don't get components.
I'm building a custom Audio Player. The whole thing drives a MediaPlayback component. I have a scrubber set up that moves with the progress of the song. I want to be able to click and scrub with it though. Currently I have it set to set the playheadTime equal to the percent distance the slider is dragged to times the totalTime of the playback component. After the release of the slider I trace out the playheadTime and it seems to be fine, but I can't get it to resume playing at all. Here's the code in the controller:
var totalDistance = bar_mc._width - slider_mc._width; var wasPlaying = false; this.onEnterFrame = function(){
I'm trying to dynamically set some parameters of a component using AS3. The component has a parameter named "imagePath". I want to set this to a variable named "pathVar" This is where i'm at.
Code: var pathVar pathVar="images/folder1" imagePath=pathVar
i never use compenents, and was recently asked to build one. Ha. Anyway, i have a working class that does all i expect, however, when transforming the class to a component, i am having trouble getting the inspector to actually 'set' the variables. below is a very general idea of what i am doing. All the variables show in the spector, but only the default values are working at runtime.
I ve got a series of frames, each with its own instance of a scrollPane called actionText. When navigating from frame to frame I want the vertical scroll position of actionText to reset to 0.For some reason these separate instances of the component are inheriting scroll positions from one another,for example,if I scroll to 50% in one frame, jump to a new frame with a new instance of actionText, that new instance starts at 50%, not 0.
I should be able to set the scroll position by actionText.vPostion = 0 but I get Position is an undefined property of the object actionText .Roll over either the star one or star twotabs and select any action item, scroll the text down (actually a pdf converted to swf), then navigate to another action item and the new scrollPane does not default to 0. Only stars one and two are coded.[url]......
I am loading a component which makes a HTTPService call to get data that will then be used to set certain variables in the component. I make the HTTPService call in an init() function (for the initialization event) and then set the variables according to the data received in the HTTPService result handler. However, the variables are still null at both the initialize stage and at the creationComplete stage. If I try and read the variables in a creationComp() function (for the creationComplete event), those variables are still null. Is this correct?
I guess I don't understand the flex initialization cycle very well. When are those variables actually set and available to be used? I need to manipulate those variables automatically after the component loads. Is there an event that comes after creationComplete that is appropriate or some other way to approach this? I am using Flex 3.
ive got a radiobutton component on my stage named radio1. I need to duplicate it and then change a few properties, but i cant seem to get the path/naming right. This is my code:
I just spent 2 hours scouring the web for the answer. All I'm seeing is a whole lot of "how do you do it" and a lot of "do a google search for it'. I found a tutorial for CS4 that looked promising yet when I tried it in CS5 the damned Preview attribute (or whatever) just sits there looking at me. You're supposed to be able to click on it and choose a frame. I click and double click and nothing happens.
I am trying to define the content area of a custom component that extends mx:VBox. The component has predefined headers and footers (visual children) and I want to set the area in the middle for adding children to the component. The component will be used like this:
I am wondering if flex enforce style settings and throws compilation errors if a style that is applid to a component that is not supported by it. Has any one tried it before ?
I am trying to set a listener so that I can respond to an flvComponent when it resizes etc. I am not uses any home made classes. I have stripped the code right down to this, and it still wont work! Have dragged a flvcomponent onto the stage and given it the instance name myVideo.
ActionScript Code: stop(); myVideo.addEventListener(AutoLayoutEvent.AUTO_LAYOUT, fred); function fred(e:AutoLayoutEvent){ trace ("hi from fred"); }
when I test I get "type was not found or is not a compile time constant:AutoLayoutEvent". I can do all sorts of processes like changing flv being played, moving it around etc.
I have a video which has an flvplayback inside. I have been using it for others flv. But with these 3 flv, when I set the path in the component parameters, flash shuts down. I have used aftereffects, media encoder to convert them from mov and avi to flv.
I want to change the image at click event.I change the source of the image on click but its not reflecting immediately it comes when any other event is fired.
