I am putting together a presentation on flex for adobe user group that specialize in coldfusion. In my example I would like to display the text of the cfc being called from the webservice tag in my flex application. Is there a simple way to load the actual text for the cfc instead of the html that coldfusion is passing back to my URLloader variable?

Does Adobe had releases the source code for the components that comes with Flash CS4 (fl.controls.*). If not, is there any way to use the Flash component library with another IDE like FlashDevelop for code and compile the flash applications.

View 5 RepliesI can see that when I set htmlText in a textarea control, the text property contains the html free version of the text. So there is a parser somewhere that is ripping of html from the content, which would be very usefull for my purposes.
However, based on the flex source code, the setting of html is done in UITextField.as, which is the type of the textfield member of TextArea. The line that does the work is:

in function override public function set htmlText(value:String):void Trying to follow the class hieararchy, I end up in FlexTextField class, which extends flash player's textfield class. It appears the functionality I am after is in flash player. So is there any way of accessing this html cleaning function?

1). Copy and paste multiple-line texts.
2). Write long and scroll the texts.
I also found another working example at: [URL]. (The autocomplete prompt appears when you press ctrl+space right at the caret's position). But an email from its author says he uses monotype fonts to calculate individual character's location. Is there a way to get multi-line input from a textfield?

Then htmlText doesn't support Spark Textarea. Hence produces error. How does one go about displaying HTML formatted text with spark Text Area Property.

View 6 RepliesI converted a .swf file into .fla file using Sothink SWF Decompiler. I can open the file with Adobe Flash Professional CS5, but I cant see the source code. The only thing that I see is the timeline layers. I want to change the background picture of the Flash and save it as .swf.
View 1 RepliesMy ant buildfiles tell mxmlc.jar to recompile target mxml source. However, if the target mxml source file has not changed, either ant or mxmlc is ignoring the file and will not create a new swf. This is an annoyance because I'm editing files imported by the target mxml. I need it to rebuild when those files change. I'm guessing that the mxmlc is creating a cache file somewhere and comparing the target mxml (or maybe just a hash). Is this what is happening? What's the standard work-around? At the moment, I'm editing the target mxml just to cause a file change.

In this component, I use commitProperties() to implement my logic.
I use Cairngorm and the 'questions' is in the model and hence it's defined as a source for data binding.
When the 'questions' ArrayCollection's size changes elsewhere in the application, it is not invoking the setter method in the component that is destination for the data binding.
I have created a textArea element but cannot display my HTML content. If I just display regular text it works or if I change the textArea element to a RichEditableText element it works fine. Since this is for a mobile app I would prefer to use the textArea element as recommended by Adobe.Here is the MXML code for the textArea. All I get is the border and no content displayed.

After setting an control's location to some site. How could I then take a peek at the associated HTML? I notice that as soon as I set Location, htmlText becomes null and vice-versa... So how would one go about looking at the HTML displayed in the control in TEXT form?
View 2 Repliesi have a Air Project in which i have added three extenal source folders. but when i reopen project or strat flash builder again i get icon on those folder like this but when i open the configuration for that project and try to validate the path and adding it again i get message like this but the path is valid. proof is this pic what could be possible error,,, is there any way that i when ever re-open project i get no warning and able to navigate through the linked source code. now i am doing it
1- deleting on of the linked folder
2- again adding that folder.
So inside my src folder I have my app.mxml file. I have a source directory pointed to my actionscript library.It appears that Flex does not look inside that source directory including an .as file within the master mxml file.

I used a FlexBuilder Library Project to create a custom component library (swc). The custom component is a control bar with text fields and buttons, etc.The vast majority of our team's code is done in pure AS3 I've successfully included my new SWC in the lib and build path in our AS3 project.I've also successfully instatiated an instance of my custom component, but for some reason, it will not display. I know it exists, because 1) the compiler had no complaints, and 2) I can trace property values of the custom component and get valid output from the trace statement.

I have used Flash to make skins, which I import and apply to Flex components.But how can I create a component in Flash, with properties and methods. And make it able to be added to the displayList in a Flex app?I installed the Flex component kit for flash. Created my component in flash (it extends MovieClip). Did Command->Convert to flex Component, did File->Published, which gave me a .swc, dropped the .sec file into my Flex project. Now when I create a new var the class "FlashFlexComponentTest" pops up in the new class hint box, so flex sees it. View 1 RepliesI've created a component which is basically a meter (extends skinnable container). The skin to the component contains two rectangles (background and the actual meter). This component receives an arraycollection with the following fields value, max and min(the arraycollection I am passing is Bindable). When I initialize and pass the data to be used to draw It works great (keep in mind - only works the first time). I've created a button that changes the data array and shows the current meter value. Apparently the meter's value is changing everytime I modify the ArrayCollection I've set to be used for rendering.(dont want to say "dataProvider" because it is not a Flex dataprovider, just a variable )... here is the code...

I need to completely initialize a custom component in my Flex app (i.e. I should be able to access it from action script and get its properties and its children etc), But I do not want to add it to the display or make it visible. I have tried to add it to my visible component, but keep it visible, but often many of its properties are set only when it is drawn, so i don't get what i need. Is there a way to add a custom component to some sort of 'Virtual' display, that is not visible to the user?
View 3 RepliesI have an arrayCollection of objects that extend Sprite, and have bitmaps within them. I want to display these in a list (or some other component that would allow a user to scroll through them, and see their associated data.)
When I do: myList.dataProvider = myArrayCollection
the list just shows a bunch of lines of [Object, Item] instead of the visual sprites.
