Actionscript :: Chinese Characters In Strings For Dynamic Text In Flash?
Jan 4, 2011
I have a Flash file which contains some dynamic text boxes. ActionScript is being used to fill these boxes using strings. However, I can't seem to get Chinese characters to appear properly. I've tried the actual unicode character as well as their unicode-escaped equivalent but when I export the movie, nothing shows up (blank - it was assumed that the characters are not even present).
I am having issue with my created flash, it can't handle chinese characters? is there some way i can handle this thru code? or should there be any font or language pack installed
Am having problems displaying Simplified chinese in Flash. I have a file and I am using an xml file to hold the text externally.I have tried embedding the simplified chinese in the text fields in the flash file, using a chinese specific font, however none of this is working
I'm calling a php file from Flash and adding variables afterwards like so:It works fine if I copy and paste this directly into the web browser, however if I call it through flash, the address bar would end up like this: something.php?title=??Is there anything I can do from PHP or flash to encode/decode the string? that method worked perfectly.Everything is echoing out fine, however I'm now having some issues inserting the informtion into my database via MySQL, all of my fields are set to UTF-8. I'm getting some weird characters instead of the Chinese characters.
I am trying to find a way to load Chinese characters into Flash via XML.Notepad does not like chinese characters it seems... So how to copy the characters...My XML file is very simple:
I've been searching all morning for this solution and can't find any. The closest one is this:[URL]..But it won't work for me. I have an XML that has some characters in Chinese, I can use any of these (one with the characters directly there, and the other with the characters in html)[URL]..The problem is that I can't display the characters on a Flash dynamic text box..
I have tried with sans font, trbuchet, tahoma, all embeding all of the chinese options...
System.usecodePage true and false, and nothing... html enabled and disabled...
I'm trying to load chinese text from an xml-file to a dynamic textField in flash.Is there anyone who knows how I can do that?every feedback - url, idea or what ever will help me - can't find something on google....
I'm making an interactive animation for my project and I need to display chinese characters on stage. I've already installed the neccessary Window XP features to display chinese and it does display chinese anywhere I go. The strange thing is that the chinese characters are displayed as little white squares on stage but not in my library. In other words, I can read chinese in my library or any other places in my computer besides those that were set on stage.
I'm having some issue with embedding Traditional Chinese characters from the Arial Unicode MS font. I've used the character set described here (0x4E00 - 0x4FFF).[code]...
i have a dynamic text feild which is being populater with text. disText.text = "I may start utopian island soon. Then we can recline while the robots and the animals do our bidding. Within reason. No monkeys in bras. &&about 1 hour ago from web"; i can format this text like so:
[Code]...
okay so that is all good. Now i need to search the string and find the &&, any text after this point will need to be formatted in a different way. i have done a search and replace
[Code]...
so that the special characters are replaced with nothing but i cant find a way of findig out where in the string the special characters were and how to modify the text that is after the special characters i.e the about 1 hour ago
I know this is similar to an already asked question, but I would love to get some more detailed help on how the outcome was achieved. I have a website with SWF animations of automotive systems. Each animation has labels naming the parts, action buttons to show failures, and links to other animations. The text for each label is dynamic, with the label being pulled from an XML file. We allow the user the option of changing the language, and currently have successfully used English/French/Spanish (all left to right) and Hebrew (right to left).
We are trying to add Traditional Chinese for a user in Taiwan, and are having difficulty getting the characters to display. We can make it work if we embed the font file into the SWF, but the file size increases to a point that it is not practical to do. I want to use the "Device Font" option, so that we can enter the Chinese text into our XML file, and then the SWF will use the font file from the end users computer to display the characters, but if I change the text property to "Device Font" it makes all the label text in the boxes disappear, no matter what language I select. If I leave the box set to "Anti-alias", the other languages display correctly.
The XML file contains this for the Chinese language label:
and this for the English Language label: The encoding of the XML file is UTF-8.
I've made a imput box (textbox) with the name "user" I've declared an array:
var word = new Array(500); word[0]="";(I need this for first word from a text)
When I try to compare the user.text to word [i] for example even if this values appear at trace() the same, the if (user.text=word[i]) give me everytime false.
I am trying to get Chinese text using XML file. it's loading text BUT it doesn't display Chinese text in it,It only displays Square/Box. I have used TAHOMA font for that text box. is there any solution?
what's the easiest way to cut string in Flex ?I mean, I have a sequence of urls, I want them at most 60 characters length. If they are longer they should be cut and "..." should be added at the end.
I'd like to know how to substitute characters of strings.Let's say I have...
my_str="Hello, Johny!, hello Dolly!";
I want to substitute all "!" characters to "?". How do we do this?I am assuming that first we need to know the character position of the character we want to get rid of.(we would loop this whole 3 step process until no more "!" characters were found in the string)1 my_str.indexOf("!"); returns 12 2) Now...how do I delete that character?3) The next step from there would probably be to use one of the methods String.substring() or String.slice to introduce the new character "?";
I am working with strings that need to retain the details of line returns as they were typed in and also characters such as speech marks (they will contain ascii art). I have looked at using the escape function but this doesn't seem to work--
i'm loading a dynamic text, but some spanish characters like " and " (i hope you see the characters in "") do not appear. Por example, the word "drsticas" which has the special character over the "a" appears "dricas", that is, it skips the letter with the special character and the 2 following letters.Anyway, i've tried using the embed option for dynamic texts, but may be i'm using it wrong.
I posted this in the wrong place (not sure how to move or delete the post). I am actually working with AS1
I could use some help figuring out how to limit the number of characters I get on a simple math function. The line of code I am working with is below. it sends the result to a dynamic text box. How can I make it so no more than 4 characters show in the dynamic text box results?
I'm new to this community and to AS3. I'm working on a project which involves some arabic text.I was able to load succfuly arabic text from external XML, also I could set a dynamic text field with an arabic string. the player shows everyrthing perfect. However when I try to to use the appendText function, it gets ugly
SWF file does not display special characters in dynamic text let alone cyrillic font. I do have all kind of fonts in Flash and they work fine in static text.
I can write the text I want to display in xml file however upon saving it I etheir loose the special characters or they still dont display correctly in SWF. Enconding is UTF-8. Tried changing it but to no effect.
I know that I can send this html to a dynamic text box and it works correctly: < a href="http://www.djlex.com" target="_blank">Click< /a>
But, why does it not work to replace the quotation marks with & quot; ? < a href=& quot;http://www.djlex.com& quot; target=& quot;_blank& quot;>Click< /a>
(BTW, the extra spaces are intentional so the html does not render as html in this post)
The following code does what I want (i.e. any key I press on the keyboard displays the character in uppercase format in the dynamic field on the stage) except that it does not properly restrict the characters to A-Z and 0-9. I can still press the <,.>?!/ keys and each of these chars shows up in the dynamic text field My dynamic text field is txt_BoxWhat is wrong with the following code?
var varKeyListener:Object = new Object();varKeyListener.onKeyDown = function(){ txt_Box.restrict = "A-Z 0-9"; txt_Box.text = String.fromCharCode(Key.getAscii()); txt_Box.text = txt_Box.text.toUpperCase();}
