How do you save an arraycollection field in an object to a mysql database. I usually would have used a for each item in array collection field then pass a unique key to it so it track it back later, but thats getting cumbersome now. Is there a way to save an arraycollection that also allows easy update of the arraycollection item.

When i check my service in "amfphp/browser/" in web browser i`ve got this (with all needed data):

I know that "result" is an ArrayCollection type but i don`t know how to get rows and columns from this. I know that my data is there but i have no idea how to get it.
how to get to Arrays and simple data variables which are in ArrayCollection.
P.S. I tried also change query type in service.PHP for mysql_fetch_query but in that case i`ve got only one row (not all data).
I have a problem with saving the £ symbol to a mysql database.I am running a flex front end, with a php + mysql backend When I save a record from flex, the string gets sent to the server as "This amount is £10" php views the string as above, and when it gets saved into the DB, it gets saved as "This amount is £10".
My understanding is that this is correct based on MySQL or PHP is appending a whenever the £ is used I now retrieve the above record, and it gets sent to flex as "This amount is £10". Flex correctly displays this in a textarea as "This amount is £10" I change another field in the same record in flex, and re-save the transaction. The string now gets sent to the server as "This amount is £10" The record is now saved into the DB as "The amount is £10". Each time the record is re-saved, this effect snowballs.
A project of mine involves a flash movie (.swf) in a webpage, where the user has to pick from a number of items, and has the option to thumbs up or thumbs down (vote on) each item.So far I have gotten this to work during each run of the application, as it is currently loading the data from an XML file - and the data is still static at the moment.I need to persist these votes on the server using a database (mySQL), such that when the page is reloaded, the votes aren't forgotten.Has anyone done this sort of thing before?The two mains methods that I have found on the 'net areeither direct communication between AS3 and the SQL using some sort of framework, orpassing the SQL query to a PHP file, which then executes the SQL query and returns the SQL to AS3.
Which of these methods is the better option?For the latter method (involving PHP), I have been able to find resources on how to acheive this when attempting to retrieve information from the database (i.e. a read operation), but not when attempting to send information to the database (i.e. a write operation, which is needed when the users vote). I want to develop a backend admin solution to save images for a post using some multiupload flash uploader. I mean that kind o f uploader, where when you click on browse and than in the open dialogue box you can choodse mulitple files using CTRL plus LEFT MOUSE CLICK).I would like to save every new image to the database. With saving I mean, creating a new row for every item(image) in my table called images:1.id (automaticallyncreasing)2.file_name3.user_who_uploaded_that_bookI would like also to limit the number of files that can a user uplaod (e.g. max 20 files) somewhere in the config file.

I'm creating a tool where the user can create his own room. The part I'm working now is to save this room as a Jpeg. I've googled some and found some ways to do it, but they except it to be just one bitmap, but the room in my case is alot of different movieclips and graphics.
Is there any good class for saving a field as a rectangle? (just the room.. no menus etc.)
Is there a way to easily get data from mySQL database and display it in a dynamic text field?
View 5 RepliesI'm new to Flex and am using TileList bound to an ArrayCollection. The array collection is empty at load time, and then updates with the results from am HTTPService call. The problem is that the item renderers aren't being rendered as expected, I'm guessing because there was no data when they were first rendered at load time. Here's simplified example:

I have a advanced datagrid and populating some data by using arraycollection. And i am filtering the arraycollection, the arraycollection index got changed.
Arraycollection:- [0] - name: abc

after filtering the arraycollection as 'hell' , the array collection is displaying like the below:

Can i know the reason why the index got changed after filter it?
* no server side code for filtering. it is only flex side filtering.
I got a music portfolio web site running PHP, MySQL and Flash. There's a page showing all the artists my client worked for and when you click on a song title, this title is passed as a variable to a PHP page then to a Flash page. The Flash page contains an actionscript music player which then looks for the right audio file in the database and plays the song. Everything works great except for the dynamic text field which displays the song title. If the song title contains an apostrophe or a single quote, the Flash dynamic text field then shows the apostrophe.[code]

View 2 RepliesI have a typical Flex-based application that was written to use a Java/Hibernate/MySQL backend. The client changed the requirements - now they want to distribute it on a CD where the user can just run the app without any installation or a network connection.
To do this, I certainly need to eliminate the web server and the database server and adapt my application (with as few changes as possible, of course) to a stand-alone application that will fit on a CD/DVD. I've managed to export the data to XML and read it into Flex, but I'm wondering if there's a way to recreate the Hibernate data structures in Flex so I could change as little code as possible. Failing that, is there any way to keep the existing Java/Hibernate external to the Flex code but retrievable without installing Apache Tomcat or MySQL?

I'm using FlashBuilder 4 and trying to create a dropdownlist that populates a datagrid. The functionality is fine but my data is being chopped up too much. Currently every since "nepName" tag in my XML file is showing up in my dropdownlist (which makes for many duplicates of the same names) and only shows the data associated with that nepName tag. I want each nepName (by name ex. Barnegat Bay National Estuary Program) to display only once in my dropdownlist and populate my datadgrid with ALL the data in the XML file that is associated with that name.
