I'm creating a tool where the user can create his own room. The part I'm working now is to save this room as a Jpeg. I've googled some and found some ways to do it, but they except it to be just one bitmap, but the room in my case is alot of different movieclips and graphics.
Is there any good class for saving a field as a rectangle? (just the room.. no menus etc.)
How do you save an arraycollection field in an object to a mysql database. I usually would have used a for each item in array collection field then pass a unique key to it so it track it back later, but thats getting cumbersome now. Is there a way to save an arraycollection that also allows easy update of the arraycollection item.
View 1 RepliesFor those of you still with me, I am tasked with making some scrollable content in Flash. Load in a TextFile using LoadURL(), then display it. To get the text, we've written our own class TextFieldExtended, which is basically just there to give the textfile location to the constructor and then have the class do the various steps of getting it and loading it for you.So I needed to get a Scrollbar, which I got hereThe thing is, it works with Sprites.After trying to get it to accept TextFieldExtended, I bumped into a block, since the scrollbar relied heavily on a Sprite property that TextFieldExtended didn't have or could have.
So I tried adding the TextFieldExtended instance to a Sprite instance using addchild.A problem occurs here that I do not know how to handle. It seems that a Rectangle is drawn and the Text is drawn on that. I say this because the scrollbar moves the Rectangle up and down a bit, but the text doesn't scroll, just the Rectangle it is positioned in and the text then moves along with it.My question: can this be fixed, or is does this implementation of scrollbars need a lot of adaptations before this is possible?
I draw a rectangle i should see a little bold circle to indicate a perfect rectangle, I seemed to lost mine, can somebody please tell me how to get it back!
View 2 RepliesI am trying to convert a rectangle(actually multiple rectangles) to a curved rectangle. I think it should be pretty easy but I guess i am stupid. Basically I would have a start position and stop position (many of these), and they would be converted to curved rectangles and follow in a cicrle around.

I toyed around with .right, and .bottomright with no success. Can anyone lead me in the right direction? or even finding the x and y of the upper right or bottom right side of a rectangle?
how to respond when a rectangle hits another rectangle? I already know how to detect the collision, I just don't know how to respond to it. View 3 RepliesTrying to get a text field in my Flash MX movie to pull from and XML file with CDATA tags to show as HTML. I've checked the box to render as HTML for the text data field... but I'm having problems with the Actionscripting.
The field from this line is what I need to recognize as HTML reading CDATA tags:

I know I need to do more than just change it to ".html" instead of ".text" and have tried a couple things, but nothing seems to work.

I do know how to use the oval / rectangle and oval / rectangle primitive tools in the tool bar and find them quite useful, but one thing I find confusing is. A oval / rectangle primitive object can be edited later but the oval / rectangle can't. So the point is,how do we use them properly ? when to use ? Why does Adobe Flash still keep the oval / rectangle tool in their product instead of removing them with the oval / rectangle primitive tool ?

In the excel file he wanted some cells - in orange - be available for user to input data at same time display the data. I find it difficult to do. But having the user input a number, store it as a variable, store which function the user wants to perform and clear the text field then store the new input in the same text field as a different variable and multiply or add or divide or subtract the 2 numbers and getting the equals sign to display the answer when clicked is harder than I thought it would be.
View 3 RepliesI am working on a file that has a rotating dial, and I'd like the dial to reveal contents of a text field (a link) as the dial points in the direction of the text field. I have 4 text fields located at 90, 180, 270 and 360 degrees (top, bottom, left and right). I have it controlled via AS, so I've got all the Math but I was hoping someone might know how to reveal the links when the arrow (in the dial) is pointing in these directions.I set up a text field for testing, which shows the degrees, but I'm getting 'NaN' in the field (problems with Theta and converting degrees to Radians, I think). I thought this might help me figure out how to reveal those links, if I can get the NaN to work.Currently, the file is rotating with an onPress, but I'm going to convert it to a mouse follow, instead, so the user only has to float around to see the links.

My question applies only when I work in 16 bit system resolution, so when I apply some text and apply 'Anti-alias for readability' with embedded chars, there is some strange filled rectangle showing around the text box. The same applies when I add any kind of filter to a text or image. You may see the exact problem by clicking on the link below: http:[url]....
- Notice the rectangle around the text boxes ('anti-alias for readability' applied, it doesn't matters is it static or dynamic text)
- Notice the rectangle around the middle dark-gray box with glowing effect applied
I will say again, this problem occurs only in 16 bit system resolution, it is not applying in 32 bit.
I know how to do general mosueover which cause cause new objects to load, or display a different frame in the timeline. What I wanted to know is how does one get it to do what looks like to be a motion tween when object is rolled over.

For example: I got a BitmapData with 3 red rectangles. If I use getColorBoundsRect I get the whole area including the 3 rectangles. Is there a way to separate each rectangle?

On the gallery page I want to be able to load and play the external swf slides that the links point to where the black rectangle is instead of in seperate windows. I've tried all sorts of things but I just can't figure it out.
