View 2 RepliesI have a 700px heigh movie, which makes the browser scrollbar appear on most resolutions. If I focus on the html part the mouse wheel works fine; however if I bring the focus to the flash movie (simply clicking on it) it doesn't work anymore! This started to happen when I added the numericStepper component to the stage even if the focus is not on it.
else I'm going to get my hears pulled by the flash-accessibility-sucks people.
I am created a dynamically adding a VBox, that contains two images. Into a Custom Component that is derived from UIComponent. The problem is the Vbox that contains the two image is only a really tiny size. I would like the VBox stretch to the size of the two images. This is how I am creating the Vbox....

I have a test field that I've created dynamically. If I add text to it by writing: myField.text = "some text" the text appears, but if I add text using a variable I don't see anything. If I trace the text field's text trace("text = " myField.text) I get the right value.

In the set data function of the itemRenderer, I receive an entire week (which is ok), but the itemRenderer doesn't know which day to use because the dataField is unknown. Does anyone know how to reach this dataField in the itemRenderer?

On my flex (flash builder 4) DataGrid - DataGridColumn , I have set a custom itemRenderer
itemRenderer="myComponents.EncounterDGItemRenderer".
My renderer is a Label

I found that my tooltips (datatips) stopped working once I started using this custom renderer. I also found that I can set the tooltip on the label in the
override protected function updateDisplayList
by setting:
toolTip=data['addedDate'];
This works find, however the problem is I need to choose a different data field based on the column. I was hoping for something similar to how a DataGridColumn labelFunction works - where I have access to "column.headerText" or "column.dataField". However I only have access to the underlying data object, not the name of what is being displayed (unless I am missing something).
Is there a way in a data grid item renderer to know what the column header text is, or do you have a different approach?

If the validation of MyValidator has errors a red frame apears around the BorderContainer as intended. But unfortunatly the error text that should apear right to the form item doesn't. I'm thinkin it's a layout problem because I define the validator inside the form item content before adding it to the form. I've already debugged this and read documentations a lot.
I have a small-ish text field with a decent amount oftext in it which must be scrolled through to view it all. I'veadded a UIScrollBar component (using AS3), and it shows up fine andscrolls the text fine, but it doesn't scroll all the way down tothe bottom of the text, just a little ways into it. If I use mymouse wheel and scroll the text that way, then scroll bar positionindicator suddenly shrinks and then I can use the scroll bar clearto the end of the text. But if I don't use the mouse wheel to dothis, I can't use the scroll bar to get to the end of the text.I've tried using the update() method of the scroll bar afterfilling the text field with it's content and attaching theUIScrollBar component to it. What am I missing here so that I canuse the scroll bar to scroll all the way down through the textinstead of just a little ways?
View 3 RepliesI made text box, typed some text, converted it to a movie clip, named etc. Used a purchased and proven scroller component ... followed directions to the letter, including referencing/linking the files. However, when I tried to test the scroll bar .... the scroll bar appears, scrolls and works perfectly except the text does not appear. I have tried making a scroll bar with the UIscrollbar same thing happens. I made an other attempt and put pics along with the text in the movie clip ... this time the pics appeared and scrolled, but the text still would not appear.

Using that Code i load a .txt file and the scroller works but only about 1/4 of the whole .txt file...
I have a DataGrid whose dataProvider is an Array of int Arrays (each with different lengths). Since each row has variable size (and I want to display all the data), I decided to extend DataGridColumn and overwrite the itemToLabel function to be able to display the data. The problem is that I also need to display the data differently depending on the int value.
I believe the only solution is to write an itemRenderer, but the only input the itemRenderer.set(data) function receives is the entire int Array. I believe I need either the exact string returned by itemToLabel or the column index of the cell the itemRenderer is for (to basically do the same parsing I implemented in itemToLabel).
Working in Flex 3, I have a series of components being rendered on a canvas, each of which should represent a single potential selection, ideally in a RadioButtonGroup. So in my parent canvas I am defining the RadioButtonGroup, and each component provides a single RadioButton. However, this doesn't seem to work.

So my guess was that at this point if, say, four of these components were added, the radio buttons would behave in mutually exclusive fashion and I'd be able to access myRadioButtonGroup.selectedValue to get the current selection. However, it doesn't seem to work that way. Is what I'm trying to do even possible, or have I maybe just missed something?
I just made a scroll area with buttons and draggable items. All the code is written for vertical scrolling, the content I need to be scrolled is going to be horizontal. how can I rewrite this code to be horizontal scrolling? it seems like the scroll button (the one you drag along) doesn't stay confined to its scroll line either.

View 2 RepliesI'm currently learning Flex, and am having the hardest time getting scroll bars to work. In short, I'm making a giant form for users to fill out, contained within a viewstack component. The user will type up information in one view, and it will be displayed in the other. But right now in the first canvas I have components that run off the screen and flex doesn't automatically add a scroll bar, so I added 'verticalScrollPolicy="on"' to my canvas. Now, while it gives me a scroll bar, it gives me an empty scroll bar. I still cannot move it up or down, meaning components are still trapped off the bottom of my screen. Am I missing something simpleEdit - I'm using Adobe Flex Builder 3, and the components it lets you drag in. http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/218/problem1f.jpg This is a picture of the problem, and i guess relavent code would be.

I have 2 questions about flex datagrids: How can I scroll it automatically to the bottom when new portion of data arrived to it (e.g. I added new items). Strange, but seems it doesn't scroll when I use scrolling wheel, is there any trick about it (especially for mac Users).

But actually it don't work. The text area is not autoscrolled. Seems that 1) scroll is not called after new string is added to chatMessages.
I have a drag-and-drop event form in a flex project. I need to run a validator right after the item is dragged into the dataGrid. In it, I fire off a function through dragDrop="verifyEventUsers()". In the validator, I compare the contents of the two arrayCollections, but it appears to be running the checks prior to completion of the drop. For instance, if I drag an element into the dataGrid and trace eventUsers.length inside the validator, I get zero. When I drag the second element, it traces as one even though two lines now appear.
How can I set up a validation script that runs after the drag-drop action has finished?
The old method for the mx:TextArea no longer works. Specifically:

I've found this method for Spark but seems a bit kludgy:

I have a component A in my flex project where people can vote for their favourite artist. Someone "likes" an artist, it get's updated in my database. There is also a component B that shows a chart of the most liked artists. I call the data from the database on creationcomplete in Flex. The problem is that when a person first votes on an artist, it will not be visible in the datagrid untill the user reloads the main page (?) or reopens the entire application. So i was wondering how i can update the datagrid everytime someone adds a vote to my database. I'm now using an update button, but that's not very user friendly of course.

How do I provide values from the dataprovider (which is an array of objects) to these individual numeric steppers. dataField cannot be mentioned in the NumericStepper tag it seems.
I have a Spark List (spark.components.List) backed by an ArrayCollection for its dataProvider. The List has a vertical scrollbar when there's too many rows to display. What I want is when a new row is added to the List for it to scroll to the bottom to show that new row.
I've tried calling List's ensureIndexIsVisible from a listener on the ArrayCollection. This doesn't work because the List hasn't yet fully rendered the new row. It will either scroll to the second from the last row, or throw the exception:

I am running CS3 but have to upgrade... so I downloaded a trial of Flash 5.5. The only components in the component window are video related. Where are the scroll components?? Do they not come with the software any more? Am I supposed to download those? If so how/where?
