I've been asked to incorporate a cover flow into a project I'm working on. Although there are many components available I've been asked for it to loop round i.e. the slideshow has no left and right end, when the last item in the XML is reached it seamlessly keeps scrolling by going back to the start of the array. Does anyone know of a coverflow component with this function?

View 2 RepliesI am trying to find a menu to implement in the form of a coverflow. I have one accessible but flipping through the covers requires that I click covers, or use the scroll bar.
I am looking for one that will move left and right without requiring clicking. Dragging is probably acceptable. I have been sifting through the google search results, but it seems most coverflows are modeled the same. It doesn't need to be free, but if I could customize it via XML that'd be great.
I'm using flash coverflow from here [URL]. My XML contains a large amount of images which really slow the smoothness of the slideshow down as I have it autmatically scrolling through image by image. I was wondering if there is a way to preload the images from XML in as part of the general preloader? I've seen other threads on preloading from XML this way but I am not sure how to incorporate the code they suggest into the existing actionscript I have.
View 4 RepliesAs usual I brought a problem for you guys to help me figure it out. What's happening is that I currently finished developing a MMO for a famous and big company in my country, I have one week before uploading it to their server and everything is ok, besides the performance.
I'm using smartfox 2.0 and I have several rooms, what happen is that if I go inside any of the rooms everything is beautifull and fast, but if I quit the actual and go to another it will be slower, and if I do this over and over again it gets slower each time I do this.
I don't what it can be, I caught the project in the middle of the way and did my part, I was revising the code but I have no idea where to look for something wrong.
I have never done an expandable flash banner before and I am so stumped. An example of what I mean is here (top bwm ad): [URL] The main problem I am having is how do I get that expandable piece to show through like that? If someone could point me in the right direction
View 14 RepliesIm attempting to make a create your own art work style piece in flash. Ive designed it out so that you first select one of 3 buttons to select which vase you wish to use as a base. However the next set of buttons relate to the colour of that object, so there are 4 options (blue, red, pink and brown) and the user selects one from clicking the appropriate button.
However im strugling to figure out how i would know which of the first options (which vase) the user has selected in the first place. Is there some kind of time line trick or script that i could use to sort this out???
I'm making a piece of flash used for a website banner, previously i've had very little experience with action scipt as i've made various animations only having to use simple functions such as "stop()" and i've made a never ending scrolling menu also, but now i want to have an event that "onPress" a small animation is played where the mouse clicked the banner. What would be the appropriate script to link the .swf i make to the "onPress" command? or what is the right command in general assuming it is that command

I tried something interesting recently. I had code effecting an object with the instance name : object_mc.Now I added another object and gave it the same instance name.The result was, that the code only effected the most recent added object (no error).Is there a way in flash to have multiple objects with the same instance name all being affected by one piece of code?
View 5 RepliesThe site I'm working on uses the age-old CSS "suckerfish" menus to do drop downs rather than Javascript or some other CSS solution. On some of these pages there are flash pieces, and for Internet Explorer 8 only, the menus get "blocked" by the flash area. After seeing questions related to this issue, i.e. here and here, I tried both wmode="opaque" and wmode="transparent", which solved the problem for Chrome, Opera, and Safari. Firefox worked without any wmode specification.However, IE 8 isn't working with either of these ... the css menus don't overlay the flash. These flash elements don't have a position assigned to them, so assigning a z-index won't help as far as my understanding goes.How do I make this work for IE 8?URL...

I already use various tools to extract the text and produce a serious of high quality images from the file and the system works well. The last piece of the puzzle is to be able to highlight specific parts of the document to help users with accessibility issues.
However I cannot figure out how to calculate where the specific text is positioned on the page? Notes: The documents uploaded to the system are from 3rd parties, so fonts may be embedded. Meaning that I cannot be sure of the width of specific letters. The text to be highlighted may not be unique, the same text may be repeated How can I calculate the coordinates, height and width of a specific piece of text on a PDF, so that I can then draw a box around it?
I'm working with the CoverFlow library by Doug McCune.
In the example included, he has created some panels inside a CoverFlowContainer. There are other examples of him populating the coverflow from an RSS feed on the page linked above but he doesn't include the source for these :(
I will eventually be retrieving data from a web service to add to the coverflow however I'm starting with this simple example:

I've defined some panels in the mxml and set creationComplete=init() so that the new panel I've created in ActionScript will be added to the CoverFlow container.
When I launch the application it displays the two predefined panels but not the one I have created in ActionScript.
I recently puchased the CoverFlow component from here, and it was a mistake. I assumed it loaded swfs for some reason, when it does not.

..but everything I've found uses an XML file to feed in the variable and parameter information. I need to feed this info in using flashvars and javascript from the html file only. I've tried modifying the ones using XML on my own but it gets to be too confusing on how to change everything when so much information--usually all the variables AND animation effect parameters--are being called from the XML.
I have a coverflow designed and flash but I do not want it to auto resize my images and I want to import pngs instead of jpegs to through xml without having white show on image but im sure that's happening because of automatic resize.

I'm having a trouble centering my flash animation in the center of the page - verically. It centers horizontally but I can't get it to center vertically. How can I do this in either Flash or Dreamweaver?

I have this flash website where i use Stage.scaleMode to dynamically resize the swf depending on the browser size. (i use A.script 2.0). So the width takes the whole screen and the height is scaled in proportion. My design is in a landscape format. It works fine, except that i need the swf to also be vertically centered in the browser Window. (explanantion - on certain screens, example a 19 inch PC monitor which is quite "squared", my flash movie expands the whole way across the width, and the height in proportion, but as my design is in landscape, i have a big empty space in the browser below the swf.)
