Actionscript :: Spark.components.VideoDisplay And Doesn't Dispatch DoubleClick-Events

Aug 2, 2010

I stumbled upon and interesting problem concerning spark's VideoDisplay-Component. It seems that it doesn't dispatch DoubleClick-Events. For better understanding look at the following code:

[Code]....

The Click-Event works for both components. But the DoubleClick-Event is only handled by the Panel-Component.

Flex :: Attach Camera To Spark.components.VideoDisplay?

Nov 14, 2010

I'm using Flash Builder and created a spark-application Flex project that will stream video from the local camera. If I use mx.controls.VideoDisplay; there is no problem since it has attachCamera(camera) method. But Spark's VideoDisplay component does not have that method. I know I can use mx controls inside a Spark app but I want to know:

What is the real difference between spark.components.VideoDisplay and mx.controls.VideoDisplay?How do I attach camera to spark. components.VideoDisplay?Is there any advantages if I go with spark (since it's newer to mx library)?

EDIT: In the documentation this is mentioned: "Starting with Flex 4.0, Adobe recommends that you use the spark.components.VideoPlayer class as an alternative to this class. (mx.controls.VideoDisplay)"

ActionScript 3 :: Events Between Spark And Custom Components

Nov 30, 2010

We are building an interface for a game. The interface has a tabbed menu at the bottom of the screen, with each tab displaying different aspects of an object (called a node). When you click on one of these parts, it becomes the focus, and we download it's details in XML, including all it's sub-nodes and parent nodes and then update the tab display accordingly, or at least that's what we'd like to happen.

What we have:
MainInterface.mxml
<s:Application...
<fx:Script>
<![CDATA[
public var currentNode:Node = new Node();
[Code] .....

We tried adding an event listener for "selectNode" to the dashBoard:SkinnableContainer you see see above, but it didn't seem to want to take. We suspect this is because dashBoard is from a spark component and the dispatcher for "selectNode" is on of our own custom components, but we weren't sure... in any case that's what the code assist seemed to indicate as we had to write it in by hand. We're not sure how to pick up the Events in FlashBuilder 4's debugger, so we're having trouble working out where it's going wrong.

Basically, when someone clicks on the label of a child or parent node (that is displayed by the itemRenderer), we want a URLRequest sent to our website, with the url specific to the node clicked on. We then want a URLLoader listening for the return which will update public variable 'currentNode' when xmlDownloaded is called by the loader. If you could clarify how the click event should be dispatched, what should be listening for it then sending the URLRequest and where the URLLoader that is listening for the xml data to return should be that would solve our problems.

Flex :: Adobe - Take Screenshots Of A Spark VideoDisplay?

Mar 2, 2010

I want to build a component, where the user can play a video in a Flex Spark VideoDisplay. There will be a button and whenever the button is pressed, I want to save the current time of the VideoDisplay plus a screenshot. The screenshot needs to be someway saved, because I want to display all times and screenshots in a DataGrid (screenshots should appear when the user hovers a time in the DataGrid). So, how can I take screenshots of the Spark VideoDisplay and save/display them?

Flex :: Restore Spark VideoDisplay Stream?

Dec 8, 2011

how to receive an event when the streams disconnects that would be great.

The documentation for this control is simply horrible. I have an application that will have a live video stream and I'm looking for a way to make the VideoDisplay control restore its connection in case of the occurrence of any of these specific scenarios:

The application starts and the stream is not online yet. The application is streaming and the user is disconnected from the internet. The application is streaming and the video server crashes and reboots.

I'm using Wowza Media Server and Wirecast to test this. 1 and 3 don't work, I'm not sure number 2 does. I made number 1 work by adding this very questionable piece of code:

Flex :: Spark VideoDisplay In Popup Causes Memory Leak

Jun 3, 2010

I'm currently building an air app with FB 4.

I have a custom control that contains a VideoDisplay control, and which loaded using the PopupManager.

Using the profiler, i've noticed that every time the my popup is loaded the memory for it gets allocated, but when it's closed the memory is never recovered.

There's nothing else holding a reference to the popup. And if I don't set the source of the VideoDisplay object, then there is no leak - but as soon as the source is set I get a leak.

I can't see any method to force close the stream or anything on the spark VideoDisplay control.

EDIT: I have tried setting the source to null before closing the popup but that doesn't change anything.

Also, I'm not holding any event listener to the video.

Edit 2: It doesn't happen if I replace the spark VideoDisplay with an mx VideoDisplay. Bug in the spark component?

}

But I can't find anything like an 'isPlaying' property.

Flex :: Spark VideoDisplay With Long Wait High CPU Usage In Google Chrome (and Opera)

Sep 6, 2011

I've created a Flex website that plays a video using the Spark VideoDisplay component. When selected, the VideoDisplay loads in the PopUpManager.

This works fine in all the browsers, except Google Chrome take significantly longer to start playing, during which the CPU usage peaks, then goes back down once video starts playing.

I've traced the player states it goes through and they are as follows:

Loading ready (hangs for ages with high cpu) buffering playing (immediately after buffering, CPU usage goes down, video plays smoothly)

What could be causing this to temporarily hang for so much longer in Chrome? I thought I could expect the same functionality and behaviour throughout all the browsers, as Flash is simply a plugin that runs as a separate process?

Edit: It seems that it's the same in Opera too. Is there any commonality between the two that would explain this behaviour?

Flex :: Dispatch Events Between Two AdvancedDataGrids

Aug 20, 2010

I have two separate advancedDataGrid instances (let's call them A and B). What I'd like to do: when clicking on grid A. I'd like:
for grid A to handle the click normally (i.e. default advancedDataGrid behavior)
for grid B to receive a click event a certain location and handle such event using advancedDataGrid default behavior (i.e. without having to write a handler for such click).

I've managed to dispatchEvent a MouseEvent.CLICK to grid B and to handle such event by creating an event listener, but really I'd like for grid B to handle the event on its own (i.e. without having to re-rewrite a handler), and that doesn't seem to be the case. Is MouseEvent.CLICK even the right event?

Actionscript 3 :: Does It Make Sense To Dispatch Events From Another Object

Oct 7, 2009

I'm still trying to get my head around the best way to structure event flows. Someone made a lot of sense by telling me that contained objects should be decoupled from their parent containers so they're reusable between containers. Instead of calling their parent's function, they dispatch an event. Sensible! I recently myself in the awkward-feeling situation of dispatching an event on a contained object, from its parent. It seems more intuitive for an object to be the one dispatching its own events. Maybe I'm bordering on breaking the Law of Demeter? Example of what I'm doing: child.dispatchEvent(new ChildEvent(ChildEvent.IM_BEING_A_CHILD)); Am I correct in feeling strange here, or is it a normal thing for one object to dispatch another object's events?

AS3 :: Dispatch Events To Objects Not Related On The Display List?

Nov 18, 2009

So, events bubble up the display list. That's great if that's what you want. But what if you have objects on the stage that are not related that need to listen for events from each other? A simplified example:

var objA = new ObjA;
addChild(objA);
var objB = new ObjB;

[Code]....

Object B can listen for events dispatched by object C. But I also need object A to listen for events dispatched by object C. Also, these objects are created in different classes so I can't hard code references to each other.

I have a listener registered in 'mymodule'. Nothing happens when the function/method runs, however.

Actionscript 3 :: Updating View Spark.components.List?

Sep 23, 2010

I am using a List component inside an itemRenderer. The main user interaction involves dragging an item from the List in one renderer and dropping it in another. My problem: When the data object is updated I want the Lists' height to be modified according to the number of objects in the dataprovider(dp), which is passed to the List from the data object. Now I have tried to invalidate the display of the List, refresh its dp and have tried putting this line assets.length > 0 ? assetList.percentHeight = 100 : assetList.height = 10; in other event handlers, such as dragdrop handlers, collection event handlers for the dp etc. I have also tried refreshing the dp for the List component that is using this renderer. The view does eventually get updated but only if I resize the list, or use the scroller or when I begin dragging a new List item but never after the drop.
