And still, the header is not sent (checked with Wireshark).

I am trying to access a .Net service which requires an authentication header. If WebService is used it works fine. But when it is accessed using HTTPService it throws error. The project is already done by somebody else using HTTPService. Now changing to webService requires some time since there needs to be modification in a lot of files.

I can add the services to the Data Services panel but I have two strange things:
1) when I want to configure the return type he doesn't let me create a new ValueObject type, I only get the bottom datagrid which states: Properties returned by the operation: Property: country_Id, provence_Id, city_Id, id_cdpc, district_Id with the related values on the right side. Why can't I create a new data type on the top?
2) When I accept this and want to add the service call to a button (drag&drop) I get the following error: Error occurred while generating code. Make sure that there are no compiler eroors and try again after reopening the file. Componentn type services.cdpc.CDPC not found... (ps: When I perform a Test Operation everything seems to be ok, I get the expected output values)
When trying to send a POST request to an ASP.NET asmx web service I am seeing (in Charles and Firebug) it go through as a GET. Here is my AS3

This seems to be an issue with flash as it is happening before it even goes to the server. I have uploaded this to a testing server and I still see it come through as a GET.
Is there a way to send a simple SOAP message to a web service on another domain, while not caring about the response (this is simply a small data push) in an old flash app?

The site is for a custom nameplate service; once they choose a design and colorway, I'd like to allow customers to preview their name on the sign with, say, 6 different font options to choose from. I've never done any kind of interactive Flash--other than simple mouse actions, so I am at a total loss as to where to get started. Has anybody seen a template that might work?

View 1 RepliesI am in the process of writing an application in Flex 3.3, using the Cairngorm framework, for deployment as an AIR application. The application heavily utilizes RemoteObject services to get data from a web server.Each of my service delegates extends a common class which provides a method for calling service methods on the RemoteObject.So, where I previously usedServiceLocator.getInstance().getRemoteObject('myService').myOperation.send();I instead usethis.send('myOperation', 'myService');I use this method instead of calling the RemoteObject operations directly because this method adds another, global, responder to the operation call. This extra responder analyses data in the headers of reponse from the server.
Or at least it should -- this is where the problem is. In the result data (event as mx.rpc.events.ResultEvent) the headers property is always null despite the headers definitely being sent from the server.
I am trying to extend the DataGrid to allow headers for different groups of rows. However, I cannot figure out which method to extend from DataGrid that would allow me to accomplish this. I do not want the headers to be included in the dataProvider, only the rows. I want to specify indexes to insert the headers at using a property of the custom datagrid.

I am trying to use the Quickbase API (see reference below) with a POST. I am having trouble forming it; specifically, I am clueless as to how to format the header (headers=""). I think the XML Payload is correct, but who knows.

View 2 RepliesI almost got it, but the part that's giving me trouble is making the header background transparent. I am making a custom MXML skin based on the default Spark DataGrid skin. I tried setting the contentBackgroundAlpha to 0 on the columnHeaderGroup and the headerRenderer, but that didn't work. I tried setting visible to false for either of those, but that made it so that the text didn't show up either, so that didn't work. There is no setting for backgroundAlpha in either of those two, so I'm not sure what else to try.
View 2 RepliesI am trying to find an easy and robust way to override the default layout of DataGrid and populate its values in a left-right fashion. To illustrate:My data model is an array of: {a: xxx1..n, b: yyy1..n, c: zzz1..n}The default DataGrid component will lay this out as:
a b c
xxx1 yyy1 zzz1
xxx2 yyy2 zzz2
xxxn yyyn zzzn
etc.
With "a", "b", and "c" as the headers, and x, y, z being their values for each object in the dataProvider.Now I want to lay this out horizontally like so:

b yyy1 yyy2 yyyn
c zzz1 zzz2 zzzn
I've searched around for an answer but haven't hit on anything. Perhaps I'm just using the wrong keyword searches...Regardless, if anyone knows a solution to this, be it as mundane as a property setting I've somehow missed, or a 3rd party component, etc.
ps: Eventually, this must be entirely tab-enabled and cell-editable. If you have an esoteric solution involving a multi-field itemRenderer, please keep this in mind. I mention this because I have attempted such a solution and have failed to penetrate DataGrid's Unfailing Field of Tab Vitiation (ie DataGrid seems to override tab functionality inside its itemRenderer, forcibly setting focus to the next renderer/editor).
I am looking into achieving below two features in a flex grid( or advanced grid).
1. merge column headers ( as in group just the cells in the header row ).
2. add multiple ( say 2 ) headers to the grid.
I am using Flex 3 (ActionScript 3.0). I use the HTTP progressive download to play sound files. I want to secure the sound files, by only serving them when the request comes from my flex app. I chose the simplest solution of adding a HTTP header to each request send from the app. But flash.media.Sound object ignores the headers set in flash.net.URLRequest. Here's an example,

The value of req-origin comes as null in load_sound.php. When i inspect the request using Firebug, the request headers to [URL] doesn't contain the header.

The difference here are two things, the earlier error is while converting flash event to custom event and now this one is while converting custom event to flash event and secondly, I have no clue why it is trying to convert to the mouseevent where I am just dispatching my custom event with proper listeners.

Is there some sort of configuration settings in FlashBuilder 4.5 where you can easily switch between webservice urls? Right now I have to delete and recreate the web service every time I switch from local to production and vice versa.

The motivation here is that I can now create a couple different skin files to change the look and layout of those subgroups. Reading source of the spark panel, there are some calls within the mx_internal namespace such as getMXMLContent() which is a method of the spark group component, but which I have no access to.
Does the description above make sense? How can I create custom 'contentGroups' in my custom Flex4 component that can use nested mxml child components? Should I approach this a different way?
I have a grails application that will be rendering an html page into a pdf file and I have a flex application sitting on a server that is going to accept REST parameters and construct a graph based on the parameters (which will be formatted in JSON). What I want to do is make a call to the flex app with my parameters and have the flex app create the graph, render a JPEG of the graph, then send an image back to grails. In other words, I want to put an HTML img src=that will render the image directly to the page so that my PDF Plugin in grails will render it into the PDF.

determine what is preventing my web service from being called. We have a working application in production and the developer who wrote it has left. am trying to build it on my machine and I can see a web service call in fiddler being made with the URL "/Services.asmx/MethodName" (as a GET request).I have set my break point in the asmx web service and it is not being hit. All I get in the flex front end is a pop up with " The remote server failed to respond and may be offline. he web service is in the same application as the web app that hosts the SWF file.I have the cross domain policy file in place.

I have a flex web application that searches clients with both full name and client id, when searching by name sometimes the usuer just types the last name and it takes a long time.
Since the app is used when clients are waiting in line, I would like to be able to stop the search and use their full name or id instead, and avoid waiting for the results and then having to search the user manually within the results.
I meant "web service" I actually meant mx.rpc.soap.mxml.WebService, I want to stop it from waiting for the result event and the fault event.
