View 3 RepliesI have flash ui built over the chromeless youtube player right now and I'm wondering if there is anyway to set certain sprites within the stage to not scale on fullscreen without having to do inverted scaling.
Edit: I use FlashDevelop as my IDE and building this purely in as3
I do not know if this is possible but I want to use input field to program things on the stage.
I know if I do this

Working on my first complex game, and I'm not sure how to best approach this problem. I've got a submarine whose motion is controlled by the four arrow keys and which launches torpedoes via the space bar. After the sub shoots, I want the torpedo to be steerable with two other keys (probably Z for left and X for right), and at the same time, have arrow keys continue to control the ship.
First question, is this possible? I'm assuming I'll have to switch focus back and forth via code.
Second, what the best approach to setting this up? Attach listeners to the stage or to each object? If I chose the former, could i avoid focus issues by detecting which key was pressed and then manipulating the appropriate object?

For some reason all three sound objects play at 5% of the volume (the volume that was set for "WhenTextAppears"). I want to controle the volume of the 3 objects seperatly,.... I thought the code above should do the trick but it doesnt.
I have some sounds in movie clips, this is because that is the only way to be able to select SYNC Stream mode (to keep the movie in sync with the narration). Thus I don't want to use Sound Objects because they can get out of sync... Is there any way to control volume (so I can mute) without using Sound Objects?
View 2 RepliesI have a fixed amount of words. Lets say 20 words. I want each of these words to be put into symbols - so i have 20 symbols (box1...box20). Now i want the boxes to fall from the top of the screen and until they reach below the screen. But (and this is where i'm lost) I want to have them fall at different speeds AND I want to control how many boxes falls at a time. Starting out with one box and when this box is out of the screen I want to control the amount of boxes/symbols entering the screen next.
A function telling that next there should be i.e. three boxes entering and falling/floating across the screen (from just above the top of the screen untill they all have reached the bottom). And i want to be able to call a function which starts X boxes - even before the existing boxes in the scenes has dropped). It would be nice to have a function, ie. fallBox(3) , which may be called at any time.
Using AS3, I was wondering how to control one object, a ball, while another ball bounces around. I'm modifying code from "Foundation ActionScript 3.0 Animation" by Keith Peters.
I'm pretty new so I'm probably making some obvious mistakes here. First of all I thought I could refer to the balls as ball[0] and ball[1] since they are in an array called ball. Is this correct?

I have a button calling volumeChange onRelease, but when I trace videoSound.getVolume() in volumeChange, it comes up as undefined. However, if I trace videoSound.getVolume() after I define videoSound, it comes up as 100, but any attempt to use videoSound.setVolume in initNetStream is futile.

View 1 RepliesI have a flex application and have embedded a flash (SWF) file into it using <mx:SWFLoader>. There is an "Exit" button on the Flash file. I want to be able to handle the button click event on the flex application.
So when that button in the flash file is clicked, I want to perform an action in the parent flex application.
Internally Flash obviously keeps a list of the primitives drawn using Graphics so I wondered if you have many such primitives in a Sprite, can you re-position/remove/alter individual items rather than clear and re-draw everything? Or is this deeper into the bowels of Flash than you're allowed (or recommended) to go?

View 1 RepliesI'm using Zend AMF to send my remote objects to Flex. I've defined a Constant class and created getASClassName() method. Then I've created Action script class in flex.
Objects are send successfully, but they are deserialized to generic Objects in Flex instead of specific ones. EDIT: On network monitor in Flex I can see that AMF value is set to com.my.project.valueobjects.Constant. Although array from event.result contains Objects.

I have an array of temporary objects created in a for loop. The objects are of type class "Tile", a class I created. However, it appears that whenever I create a lot of tiles in the for loop, the program slows down indefinitely.
While the array is whiped at a later trigger point, I am thinking that perhaps these Tile objects are not being erased from memory. They are being created on the fly in a for loop, and the array is being reset to "array = []".
Are the objects still in memory or are they cleaned up when the array is set to []?
What I have is a game with a Level object, inside the Level is a Player object, and they don't have instance names given, what I'm trying to figure out is how to do is make it so that the player can change the x or y properties of the Level object.
To be more precise, I'm making it so that when the player moves in a certain direction, he either moves accross the stage, or he starts moving the Level object around the stage, it'd be in an Event kind of function, now I can easily make the Player move, but I don't know how to make the Level object move which the player is inside of.

I will try to give as much detail as I can. I am creating an CRM application using Flex(Cairngorm 2)/Java/Hibernate. The basic problem I am having is this: I have a Customer class in Java that has an ArrayList of Address classes. I have a Customer class in Flex that has an ArrayCollection of Address classes. When I make the remote object call for a Customer I get back a Customer object in Flex, but the ArrayCollecion objects have a data type of Object instead of Address. If I try to call for a List of Address classes I get the same result. If I try to call for a List of Customer classes I get a list of Customer classes in Flex. Using tomcat 6 with the following jars:

How do I align a movieclip, which width and height is user-defined, inside another object (this one is static, though). Top-left alignment is easy, x=0 and y=0, but what about center, center left, bottom left, etc? Math(.round) i suppose, but how?I want an object (static) inside the movieclip (user-defined) to stay aligned to, for instance, the top right corner, similiar to the minimize, maximize and close buttons at the top right of your browser.. The height and width data is pre-defined by the user in another file.But that does probably not make any difference...
View 3 RepliesI want to create a flash movie which firstly loads a selection of images/objects into a portion of the frame. After this is complete, the user can then drag these objects onto another area and the object will be created where the user has chosen. The user can then drag another instance of the ojects onto the area.
For example, there is a background of a lake in one area. A selection of boat pngs are loaded in an area below the lake. The user can drag these boats and place them on the lake. They can drag a boat multiple times if they wish.
I have two movie-clips, one is small-box and another is big-box .Both are rectangular shape. Small- box has an index 0, and big-box has an index 1. Their x,y are same and big-box being big in size gets hide small-box. Now the problem is the listener attached to small-box does not fire as big-box is on the top of small-box. what would be the way to get listener fired when click on small-box area??

blueRod_mc.x = 300.0;I have now created an Actionscript class called Problem.I build a new object from Problem which I have called Riddle.But when I put blueRod_mc.x = 300.0 in a method (of Problem),I get the message that blueRod is not accessible.So I triedstage.blueRod_mc.x = 300.0;That did not work either.
When I copy layers and edit the objects on stage, the objects also change in the other layer(s).
How do I duplicate a layer so that I can modify it with the objects in the old layer being unaffected? There must be a really easy way?
Why do we need to create objects like Sound Objects, Date Objects and Text Objects before we load them? And what are the advantages of using objects?

View 3 RepliesIs it possible for flash to access the windows xp system volume controls?I assume flash can't by it's self, but can flash be used to trigger a function in another language that can access and alter the system volume? At least detect if the audio is muted on the system and give the option to turn it on.The flash movie would be embedded in a browser. The content of the movie has audio that is required. We want the user to be able to control the system volume from within the flash movie.
