Feb 10, 2011I need to set up a website with a video as the background.
Will I be able to use z-index to position other elements on top of the video? Is there a better alternative?

Sep 20, 2011I have installed FMS 4.5 successfully. I am able to run all the videos in the index.html page (filmthos.com/flash), including the HLS video on my Iphone. I was able to setup a video player for rtmp and it works fine, but I am having trouble with setting up video players for HLS and HDS. I am looking for somthing simple.
The source file or located in these location: /hds-vod/mvp5/media/MP.mp4.f4m and /hls-vod/mvp5/media/MP.mp4.m3u8 respectively (the httpd.conf location for both is HttpStreamingContentPath "/opt/adobe/fms/applications"). So obviously I want a simple video player for the HDS that plays flash and another to play HLS and HTML5. The index.html seems to cumbersome to fine out how these players work.

Media Server :: Stuck In Vhost Setup Have Setup And Working Up To Connection?
Feb 22, 2011I have started the vhost setup. I have cpanel on the server and I added the domain and it resolves to
the hosting account just fine pull up www.domain.com and goes to server.
I added the www.domain.com vhost. I pointed the application dir to /home/domain/public_html/applications/
I copied live over to applications dir. I setup user and pass for the virtual host login.

Apr 21, 2011I have a streaming server (for pushing data not video) setup with GraniteDS and it works great. I have to include multiple swf files in a web page. Each of these swf files has a data table which includes streaming data(this is a specific requirement - so I really cant combine all data tables into 1 huge data table/swf file). All the swf files however, connect to the same gravity channel/streaming endpoint.
How many connections are there from the web page to the streaming server? Does each swf file start a new streaming connection? Or do all them share the same connection since they are just connecting to a single channel?
Image As Background / Resizing / Scalable Background
Jul 24, 2009I am relatively new to Flash CS3 and i have been learning Action-script 3 over the past week. I have come quite a long way and i have made a site in flash but i just have a question.I have been using an image as my background and i am happy with the way flash automatically scales all the objects in my file but the background image does not scale. Is there a way to do this? I have found out things online which show me how to add auto-resizing to the background but this knocks off the flash auto scaling/resizing for everything else.

Jun 13, 2009I've placed an input text box over an image of some lined paper and would like to set a limit for the number of lines that can be typed, as I would like to avoid the text scrolling (I tried the maximum characters option, but it doesn't count spaces, perhaps there is a way to make a space count as a character?). After the user goes beyond this line limit, it would auto-tab to another piece of paper, the auto-tab code's not a biggie, I can code the setFocus, but I'm really struggling to work out how to set a limit on the amount of lines, and the subsequent event that would trigger the auto-tab.

Dec 10, 2010I am currently working on a flash website that has several flv videos on it. Since the website layout has a slight tilt, I have had to transform the videos to slightly tilt as well. The problem that I am having is that when I do this the image becomes very pixelated and the edges of the video become jagged. I have somewhat fixed the edges issue by making a mask around it but i really dont know how to make the resolution better, or what causes it to loose resolution when slightly transformed. The size of the videos is the same as encoded. All I do is tilt them upwards on the right side a bit.

Flash :: Video In CS4 - Importing An Image To Stage And Set The Width And Height To Match The Image
Nov 8, 2009I have a Flash CS4 Professional version installed in my machine. Here is my problem.
1st - I'm importing an image to stage and set the width and height to match the image. (everything is good, no problem) 2nd - I am using the FLVPlayback components build-in from Flash CS4. It does load the video and everything. (everything seems good) 3rd - Publish the video to my local drive (everything seems good) 4th - I could play the video from my local pc and it loads fine and fast 5th - Upload everthing from my local folder to the Web server, it does display the background image but not the video. It has a white blank screen. What is going on? I copy the exact folder from local to server. What have I missed? How could I make the video to load?

Media Server :: FMS For Syncing Background Video
Dec 14, 2010I have a question regarding which version of Flash Media Server will best serve the project I am currently working on and whether the approach I have in mind is possible with FMS.The project envolves Flash Media Server syncing a dynamic background across multiple Flash Players running on separate computers on the same local network. One approach is to have FMS handle the variables and calculation on its side and communicate this to the other Flash Players (this I understand can be done with the Streaming Server).The second approach is to have FMS execute ActionScript on its own side to create the dynamic background and then serve this out as a video stream to the other computers. (With this approach FMS can completely takeover the processing required to generate the background content and the other computers only need to play it back as video. Is this type of approach possible with FMS and, if yes, with which version.

Sep 15, 2011I have a video player program, there is a list page and a player page, once you click on an item in the list it takes you to the player page and it loads the correct video from a streaming server for you, easy peasy When each item is picked it finds the corresponding item in an XML file and loads my video player source with the XML data url

(it has nothing to do with this function not happening on mouse event, this is only the part that happens when it loads)My issue is that if you are fast enough and click to return to the list page before the video has started playing, the video will play in the background, even though the code actually removes the video player child from the stage the code on the button to return to the list page is

there is more code in the button but none of it relates to the videoPlayer item why on earth it continues to play is beyond me, surely if there is no videoPlayer componen on the stage (and this is the only one) then the video has no ability to play whatsoever is there a specific command to tell the videoPlayer item to stop everything and just return to a blank state, do I set its 'source' to nothing?

Which is the easiest way to get this effect - is there some sort of code or application to make it easier? Also, which video size should I pick so it shows correctly in all resolutions?
