how to disable the 'hotspot' attribute of an embedded swf file?
I would like the following swf to be non-clickable (just left mouse button)

As you can see, when you click on the slideshow, it stops and turns to a white block.
I've got a bunch of dynamic and input text boxes. I want the display font to be Arial-bold. I don't have a genuine Arial-bold font so what I really want is Arial with a bold attribute. I've tried all of the following but the result is always just plain Arial:
1. Put dummy text in box, specify Arial, click Bold attribute, click Embed and include numbers and punctuation - run time result: plain Arial
2. Import Arial to library, give it the name f-Arial Bold, click the bold attribute box, check linkage and export for AS3 in first frame, get warning about class name (not sure why), put dummy text in box, specify f-Arial Bold*, click Embed and include numbers and punctuation - run time result: plain Arial
I'm trying to load an assortment of random old flash works to a main swf, to just grab bits and pieces from their libraries at runtime.the embedded code of the old SWFs is unimportant and subsequently throws misc errors when i load them in. So I'd just like to disable any external actionscript and really just load an SWF's assets for use.

The coordinates (0,0) is just an example. Those coordiinates will vary depending on location of hotspot. Is there a code for identifying location of hotspot and centering on it? [URL] The red dot is the one containing code. Green dot is not programmed.

View 1 RepliesI am trying to use a new script that uses XML to dynamically create a menu on the stage. Within the XML, I am establishing a function to use with that button. One button may just link to something on the web while another will simple display/hide a specific movieclip on the stage. I also have another button that I need to use to show any hotspots on the stage. Originally, I had the code on the instance of a static button on the stage and used a loop to get the items on the stage. Now, though, I have this "generic" Object() with a function called showHot. I have been playing around with using _parent, but can't figure out how to get to the items on the stage. All my hotspot movieclips' names start with "hs", so if I can just figure out how to loop through the items on the stage, I can check the names of those items.

The compiler is not throwing any errors and when I trace my complete xml object out it is all there, however when I try to trace out any element or node it keeps comming up undefined. I removed the attribute names with : characters in them and everything works fine. I cant seem to target the attributes either to delete them.

I'm trying to get the number of items with a certain attribute in a xml file....for example, i want to find out how many "thumbs" there are with an attribute of "websites"
var items = web_xml.firstChild.firstChild.childNodes;
var numOfItems = items.length;
The above gets me the TOTAL number of items in the WHOLE list (numOfItems) so i'm guessing i need something like:
var webItems = items.attributes.type == "websites";
var numOfWebItems = webItems.length;
but that doesn't work...

I'm working on a stand-alone application and NOT a web-based application, so I'm trying to do this strictly with AS3, if possible. For example, if I have an XML file that looks like this:

but when I open the XML file, it's not writing "Mary" in place of "Joe."
I am using Flash Builder 4 and have mistakenly set an abstract class to be the default application class.. It's not too much of an issue as I have set the correct one again, which works fine most of the time, but not when I am editing the incorrect one and hit F11 - it attempts to run the project via this incorrect class. Is there any way to remove the "runnable" attribute from this file so that this doesn't happen?An example of how this looks in the package explorer is below (Application.as is the correct file, AbstractQuickDraggable.as is not):

This code works perfect when testing, and it works perfect viewing the SWF, but when you view the HTML file with the SWF embedded, it doesn't display the text file content.
The navigation on a website I am designing is an swf file embedded inside another swf file, the latter being the body of the site. The navigation buttons are themselves embedded inside movie clips inside the embedded swf file...
I'm sure I'm missing some sort of line of programming, however my actionscript skills are rudimentary at best. I have assigned a simple goto webpage behavior on each of the buttons. However, when I look at the site all put together, they do not work.

The first issue is that only the last-parsed node is read and loaded for any of the listeners created. Second issue: Button click seems to reset itself after clicking the first time. Any time past the 2nd, data is lost in the process.

Just moved my Flex app onto Ant with a basic ant script and I am getting this stupid error: mxmlc doesn't support the "file" attribute. I looked through docos and it seems that my code is right, so hows it going.

When i play a flv file the buttons that are below this is still active and i can click on them. is there a easy way to disable buttons when i play an flv file?
